To Cam or Not to Cam ? That is my Question!
I have never done any motor work to any of my bikes in the 22+ years I have been riding! It is now time. I am keeping my 2016 Road Glide and have come to the point where I need some more juice. I am finally going to cam a bike. I am a bit nervous, but look to your advice and support. Leave a comment for me after watching this video.

Do You CARRY WHEN RIDING? Considerations for Carrying a Firearm on a MOTORCYCLE
It looks like the 24 has an adjustment for the buffeting issue. I hope so, I’m buying one and I’m 5’9”
my first harley was a 23 lowrider st. after listening to the stock m8 i knew i was going to cam it. while in there i also did preventative maintenance, changed out a lot of things. s&s sells a kit. Then took it to a dyno tuner that races in king of the baggers. It was cool of him to check on my work, and the tune was great. At first I messed around with dynojet and fuelmoto tunes but in the end nothing beat a professional dyno tune. i havent thought about motor work since then - i am real happy with my bike still and i dont plan on big boring it or anything like that. the bike is faster than me. One issue i did find was after camming the bike, the 2-1 short exhaust was really loud. i lived with it for a bit but im changing it out to a longer pipe.
The Wood 222 or Andrews 48 are nice torque cams for a bagger. That's about as good as it gets unless you want to get some high compression pistons. That opens up a lot more options.
@@travism8412 people seem to like the Woods as it has been a solid recommendation so far. Thanks for your input.

30/30 here went from 96hp to 117hp and 117tq to 137tq. 20 and 20 is great.
@@MrAgentEcho that’s solid numbers for sure
I have thought about a cam over the past several years but have never pulled the trigger. I am kinda content on the power that my milwaukee 8 delivers. Also keep in mind your fuel economy will most likely drop.
@@scottlin777 yeah I am sure the fuel economy will decrease for sure. But I would like a little more go power. Never done this before so we will see how it goes
30/30 Star Racing Cam . No issue with my stage 2. I have a stage 128 kit no issues and I put in big miles

Totally agree with your comments about the softail lineup, especially a dyna-esque bike. Dynas were beautiful.
harley is the bud lite of motorcycles
I just got my first ever BAGGER and Harley Davidson about a month ago. Vivid black Streetglide. Loving it so far, although I have only ridden a chieftain dark horse 116. Only comparison I really have. I’m hoping to get the opportunity to ride a 23 Streetglide , great video sir!
@@ZhekaSpetz92 hell yeah. Congrats on the HD !
@ Thank you sir! Sadly about to winterize it as I’m from the somewhat great state of Minnesota! But that’ll give me all winter to buy parts haha. Keep up the good content! Ride safe
@@ZhekaSpetz92 I understand that. I am originally from Michigan. Lots of thinking and planning to do in the winter time. Thanks for the comment and support!
No such thing as a Road King Standard. Road King on the new chassis is what to expect. Softails will be unchanged. Moving Rev Max to Thailand will kill it. Trikes need the chassis upgrade as thats where the $ is. No sense in the factory making 4 separate fairings and two frames in the touring lineup. Dyna is dead. Have a good cry and get over it.
You made some good points brother. Personally i like the silver color on the 24 street glides. But my favorite color is that shark skin. I have noticed the prices have come down on the 24s quite a bit and i was looking at them until i found a 21 street glide special. The price was great and it only had 5300 miles on it. I just put the kahuna heated grips on it Friday. Never had heated grips before so did my research and pulledcthe trigger. Wow. I cant believe how nice they are. I went for a day ride Saturday and had them set at the number 3 setting. So i am looking forward to extending my riding season in Ohio for sure.
@@scottlin777 I know the prices on the touring models are going up for sure so that will change things a bit. Glad you got a new scoot. And yeah heated grips are nice!
A few things: 1. All corps have dei and have had dei. If everyone is upset because of this and wants to boycott…cool. But be prepared to show that same enthusiasm with your banks, your fuel, your groceries…ect. I didn’t say some corps. I did say All. 2. Should they publicize their dei? Meh. This product and the demographic, probably not and when a company does this it’s kind of virtue signaling. 3. Should people be boycotting. That’s a choice but see 1. 4. Is the ceo a dumbass? Yes. 5. Is Harley in trouble? Yes. It has been. They have been far behind and playcating to a group that honestly, are more in the used market now and have been behind the rest of the market in new riders. 6. Is Harley trying? Yes. Look at the pan am. That bike is great but they are starting to price themselves out of that market too. When it first released I bought one, loved it and said good job Harley for having a 19k big adventure bike. Not having a sub 10k bike though is a big mistake. The barrier to entry is too high now. I have had soo many bikes. I left Harley for Indian for a while, went to triumph, and my latest looked at Honda goldwing (too smooth of a bike), rocket 3 (this was hard to say no) and bmw but came back for that sweet 24 road glide. I love the v twin. Love the water cooled heads, leds, CarPlay, and the overall lines of the new street glide.
I have been waiting for Harley to come out with this 24 model. I wish it was all the way water cooled. Why wouldn’t we want more power just from cooling. I live in Texas so yes please. Led all around? Yes please. Car play? Yup. Good functions and options yes. And now, I love my 6 day old, whiskey fire street glide. Rinehart exhaust…not too loud, sounds good when I get on it. No ear pro needed. Yes and yes. Love it!!!
I did that brother tour. It was interesting. The whole town was interesting. Thanks for another great video.
What I remember most about my Alaska cruise was the waterfalls and how abundant the bald eagle was. Your drone footage is spot on. Kinda makes me want to ride up there next yr.
We saw 2 eagles. It was very majestic. I would LOVE to ride up there. Thanks for the comment bro!
My folks took me and my two younger brothers on an Alaskan cruse yrs ago. We flew from Ohio and did the tourist thing when Seatle was still "normal" we went to the fish market and up the Seatle tower.
I would have liked it better if is was "normal". Still a cool place though.
Orange is great with chrome OK with black. You gotta do the interfering though.
@@johnmccormick6942 the inner fairing not being painted is definitely an oversight but keeps the price down.

Glad you showed some Duke things. Was wondering if Smokey and the Bandit was filmed in Georgia. Anyway. This was a neat video
@@scottlin777 Yes!!! It was filmed in GA and that will be coming soon….. Thanks!
@@ridingfreenation Yeah, come on over to Jonesboro and McDonough.
I started riding a little later in life. I was looking for something fun to do. Started on a KLR 650 and it was fun. Decided to try a Road King and something just clicked. Can’t really describe it. I will say that riding is my mindfulness if that makes sense. I now ride an Ultra Limited and I can’t really imagine not riding. It just feels like that’s where I belong. The other thing that changed for me was becoming involved in a biker organization that helps abused kids and that has really changed my life. It gave me a new sense of purpose and belonging to a community. I could go on for hours and still not describe it fully. Like you said, if I have to explain it, you wouldn’t understand
@@grump7007 that’s how I feel. I can try to explain for hours but it won’t bring an understanding. Thanks for commenting and sharing your story.
I started riding because my dad rode and it was a way to bond with him. He passed three years ago 28 August. I am glad I have memories of long-distance trips we took together.
@@TobyNorthEN man I wish could have rode with my dad. That would have been amazing. I ride with my sons and share that with them and I can cherish that. Thanks for commenting and sharing your story
I grew up round bikes, my dad was a bike nut as was my older brother. Our annual holiday was to the Isle of Man TT on my Dad's Panther and Swallow double sidecar. As soon as I was old enough I got my licence and never looked back.
I bet being at the IOM is pretty awesome. Thanks for commenting and sharing your story!
CHIPS was a cool show. I watched it all the time. But the major influence was my uncle. We would see him a few times a yr because we lived in different states. But he would tell us stories of his adventures while riding and camping. He rode a gold wing. My first two bikes were Japanese brands but my plan was to eventually move up to a Harley. He hasn't rode in yrs but Whenever we get together we dog each other because he was a hinda fan and I am a harley fan. So when I go camping with my harley it's such a great feeling. A feeling of freedom. The sound. The smells. The sights. The experience. It feels great at the end of the day. Unloading your bike. Setting up your tent and relaxing. I just saw him a couple of weeks ago and we talked bikes and travels that we had done.
I have yet to go camping on the bike. I got all the stuff to go. I am gonna just have to make the plan and do it. I think that would be a great time. Thanks for commenting and sharing your story.
We didn't have much money growing up in a single parent household in the '60's, but one year I was given a used bicycle from my uncle. I rode that thing all day long and it represented freedom and independence as I explored EVERYWHERE on it. Come 50 years later and I STILL get those same feelings as I ride my Harley EVERYWHERE just as I rode my bicycle.
Man I was the same way. I rode my bike everywhere. And then I got into working on them and doing some fun stuff. And here I am all these years later doing the same thing. LOL Thanks for commenting and sharing. I love hearing these stories.
Was thinking of a new bike but now considering buying one that's one or two yrs old from a private seller
This was all planned with these companies in 2014 with the WEF and the rest of the billionair class to force a centralized one world government they did this intentionally just like all these transnational corporate companies they are controlled by the centralized globalist lizard government with China There is a list of these companies and the DEI All of them are dead to me. All I want from Harley Davidson is a great American made motorcycle and to be part of the worldwide community who love their legendary and iconic American motorcycles. I don't care who designs or builds them as long as they are the best people for the job and love Harleys as much as I do. I'm one of thousands going to the Thunder in the Glens Harley rally in the Highlands of Scotland at the end of the month, it's awesome to be with so many like minded people!
Well stated.
They made a few DEI policies and have since said they are cancelling them after everyone complaining about it and threatening/ boycotting them
So what is their position?
You make some excellent points. Unfortunately, experience can't be taught, only learnt over years of riding. I always ride thinking every other road user is out to kill me. Drinking and riding or driving is a huge no for me, totally unacceptable.
You are totally right about experience. You have to learn. I still go out and practice stuff while riding even after 23 years of “experience”. You can never learn enough. Thanks for the comment Good Sir.
Great tips Chef. Watching the tire on the other vehicle at intersections key. Alot of folks don't know that. On my last trip I was about twenty yards behind a semi truck when it's tire blew. I saw it when it happened. Heard it then saw the tire shred. That's why I don't like to get to close to them. I always watch my mirrors. Moving or stopped. When stopped and a car is coming up behind me I squeeze my break lever a few times so hopefully the car knows I am stopped.
THANKS FOR ALWAYS COMMENTING BRO! Yeah I keep my distance from semi trucks if at all possible. Years ago on a group ride we had a semi blow out an air suspension bag and scared the hell out of us and we were all over the road. I am glad to know I am not the only one who uses the brake lever to signal folks behind me LOL.
Hope you had a great time and a good ride, my trip to Daytona was an experience to remember hopefully I’ll make it back, and Sturgis would be a great bucket list someday
budd was fine.. they lost a couple of rankings.. Harley is in deep trouble.. no one likes to be called gay riding down the highway. ish.
As a Scotsman, Americanophile and Harley fan, I can't believe what's happening with the brand. I ride a Harley because they build great motorcycles and to me represent American freedom and individuality, something long taken from us in Europe. Zeitz needs to go ASAP and the board need to be replaced by patriotic Americans who know what Harley Davidson means to us!
Well said Sir. You are the most American Scotsman I know ! And we love you for it!
I imagine the founders are spinning in their graves over this. I hope Harley wakes up and sees their mistakes. Thanks for a great video chef.
I am sure they are- like rotisserie chickens. So many have worked so hard to make it the company it is. Hopefully this does not affect them the same way as others.
Most Companies are doing it. Bud light is not the same.
Sick of hearing about it !!!!
