FTTH - Fiber to the Home is a broadband internet technology used for the last mile in a telecommunication network. Sri Lanka has a fiber network developed by Sri Lanka Telecom which serves residential and business customers with high speed broadband internet connections with fibre. Fibre technology itself has many advantages apart from high speed while there are a number of limitations as well.

Advantages -
• High download speed… LAN speed 100 Mbps
• Low latency - Gaming, ping time, round trip time
• Phone line doesn’t carry power and more safety lightening
• New network, better experience

Limitations
• Phone not working when power is not available -- Power backup available
