10,000 Reasons Cover
This song certainly isn't new, it seems that everyone and their brother has recorded a cover of it, and my cover isn't anything special. But, I have loved this song pretty much since I first heard Matt Redman sing it live with only a piano, guitar, and cajon, almost ten years ago. I really consider Matt Redman a modern-day psalmist. He writes with such intelligence and scriptural integrity. But this song, specifically...
First, it’s based on possibly my favorite scripture regarding praise, Psalm 103. In the first verse of that Psalm, David’s speaks to his own soul, telling himself to bless the Lord with everything within him. In the first verse of 10,000 Reasons, Matt Redman talks about starting his day singing praise and ending it the same no matter what.
Redman’s second verse reflects Psalm 103:2 - Bless the Lord and forget not all his benefits. Just as the psalm then launches into a list of why the Lord should be praised, Matt Redman does the same in his second verse, ending it with, “10,000 reasons for my heart to find!”
Finally, the third verse is my favorite. When my time has come, I also want to be praising my Lord, “10,000 years and then forevermore.” I pray that God will let me enter eternity with His praise on my lips.
In the meantime, I will continue to say to myself, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me bless his holy name.”
THANK YOU Matt Redman for writing beautiful music that allows the Church to worship with scriptural truth and integrity.

I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day / Peace On Earth with the backstory of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, set with Civil War and Iraq War images.
Thank you for sharing the background story! Who is the artist please? This version is so beautiful!
Is this Brendan Frasier narrating?? It sounds like him
arranger? publisher?
I am watching the movie now, the scene of his wife's death is very sad. It is too bad they did not know about " Stop, drop, and roll back then if you catch on fire. I never heard the carol before, very pretty.
"Peace on earth, goodwill to men"😇👼🙏🕊
Charles Longfellow was wounded during the Mine Run Campaign near a small Virginia settlement named New Hope Church. This happened in November 1863. This is not to be confused with the better known Battle of New Hope Church which took place in Georgia in May 1864.
Oh my! This song and the movie HAVE BECOME MY FAVORITE.
I never knew the history of this song, and this video struck me being a war veteran
Made it sound like a pop song! Bloody awful.
I have nev er been a real christmas kind of person, but this song has always been a favorite. Nice knowing the history behind it.
Makes me cry to read all these, to know what evil leaders have inposed on their citizens. But we shall have peace when we behold our Lord.
This is so sad. Interesting part of history.
This setting is *good*, but to me it feels a little... overwrought. I honestly prefer "Waltham", "Herongate", or even Johnny Marks's tune (as performed by Bing Crosby, Burl Ives, and Frank Sinatra, among many others).
🙏🙏

it is an exceptional poem. brings me to tears every single time i hear it. i will not diminish anyone who sings this perfect song, but i will tell you that Casting Crowns does a great job at singing it
I heard the bells on Christmas Day Text: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, 1863. See Luke 2:14. Music: “Waltham” by Jean Baptiste Calkin, 1872 (Two civil war specific verses and a chorus added recently are omitted.)
I first heard this song on a Hallmark movie and fell in Love with it, it wasn’t until I saw and heard this story behind it that has made me appreciate it even more❤🙏🙏🇺🇸
I'm trying now to find that movie.
Hello, we would like to use this video to show during our Sunday Service, we live stream and record, is this ok to do so?
Sure! However, I have a 16:7 format version that you may prefer to use
That would be great, thank you very much. How do I get the 16:7 version?
@@TheAcer8888 I’m just realized I forgot to reply! I’m so sorry. Not sure which Sunday you were going to use this, but the 16:9 version is on my UA-cam page. So sorry!
What a magnificent piece of lyrics to this song
I seeing this last year in my living Christmas tree it speek out truth in depth into the poem itself into a most beautiful
New Hope Church - appropriate venue for Longfellow to write his poem, waiting for new hope while his son was gradually recovering from his wounds.
Very Touching God Hold The Soldiers in Your Hands 💖
Praise Jesus Christ he will save us
Scripture says that peace will only come with the advent of Heaven. Amidst all the suffering we may find the Grace we seek.
I thought of Ukraine
Who sings this version? I would love to download this song!
Now there’s a movie “I Heard the Bells” 2022.
I watched, I HEARD THE BELLS. Beautiful Movie. 🥹
I played this at the close of service yesterday 12/25/22. When Jesus was born I believe there was peace on earth in that moment of time. He is coming again and He will usher in true everlasting peace. To God be the glory forever.
I heard once that during Jesus Christ earthly life and ministry there was no major wars for those 33 years. There were small battles, fighting etc. But, nothing big.
I like the original better.
Growing up , my Dad would always raise a toast to some German guy on Christmas Eve , and then had to wipe a tear away . Eventually , curiosity caused me to ask who this fellow was . He told me , during the Battle of the Bulge , he had killed a German soldier on Christmas Eve and going through his uniform , had discovered his name , age , some photographs etc , and broke down and wept and promised this soldier he would always remember the tragic circumstances that led him in taking his life . Every Christmas , he upheld that promise and that honor has passed on to me . Over 70 years ago , and my family still remembers that young 18 year old German soldier that died for his country so far away from his home . Will we ever find a time when ‘ war ‘ isn’t in our vocabulary ? God help us .
Thanks for sharing
We will come to a time when war is no more, but only when the Prince of Peace finally arrives. He will make all things right. In the meantime, you and your family have made great strides by remembering this young german, and by sharing the story with us. Thank you
The angels were declaring that the peace was between God and man brought by Jesus Christ. Please reconcile to God before Jesus returns. Then the evil will be gone and then there will be true peace of earth.
God bless us all
What was the young German soldier's name? My wife's Grandfather on her Mother's side was in a Sherman tank crew in the Battle Of The Bulge. He would not talk at all about it. He brought home emotional scars that affected the rest of his life and the lives of his family members. He was unable to be close to any of them after his experiences in the war.
The angels declared, Peace on earth to men of GOOD WILL.
I will never leave you or forsake you says the Lord. He is not done with this great country yet just like He wasn’t done with it back in 1865. Please God bless America!
Who wrote this and where can I get the music for my choir for next Christmas? So moving! Thank you for posting.
The song was arranged by a contemporary Christian band named Casting Crowns. Their arrangement is based off an older hymn of the same name.
I just stumbled into your post. 12/22/22. Thankyou for the blessing . Peace comes when Christ returns.
I am hoping you will come up with a version with lyrics
This version gave me chills. "God is not dead, nor doth He sleep."
I know. It's a fabulous line.
It peace on earth and goodwill to those whom I am pleased. It's not a promise to all men but only to God's adopted sons and daughters through Christ.
I love that line, but I don't like the music @1:02. The departure from the original tune is so distracting & I love the familiar melody rather than this completely different melody! The line you quote here is in the song. It's not specific to this version! This new tune detracts from the power of the original.
God help us all 😢
My favorite! Loved this version.
And so is life, beautiful things come from unbearable tragedy, thanks to our wonderful God 🙌🏼
Very well made! I like how your video captures both the darkness of war and then the coming of peace through the arrival of the Prince of Peace!
I didn't know that Henry W. Longfellow wrote this beautiful carol. I love him as a poet and now a songwriter! I bought a book of his poetry dating back to the 1864-1893's. What a treasure it is!
Longfellow wrote the poem; I believe Casting Crowns wrote the music.
@@richardadams8417 Casting Crowns did make their own arrangement, but the hymn is much older. It was first put to music in 1872
OOyaa ccchfq
He was a poet
He was was not a poet, not songwriter. Someone else put it to music.
Could you please give me the name of the person who arranged this score? Thanks so much!
Beautiful arrangement and performance - thank you for sharing.
His wife's dress caught fire and burnt her alive?
Yes. She was standing near the fire stirring the pot that had been cooking over the open flame, which at that time, was in an open fireplace inside the home. As I recall, she got too close to the flame and her dress caught fire. Her husband tried to put it out quickly, but her burns were too severe, and pass away. Unfortunately, the dresses of that era were as such that they too easily caught fire on too many women.
Never knew the story behind the Bells song So beautiful Still we long for peace in earth
It is not "peace on earth, good will to men" but rather, "peace on earth, to men of good will." The difference could not be more important. Those who wish or do evil are men but there can never be peace with them or for them. Thus, the passage clearly means there will be peace only to those of good will.
How anyone can sit here and not be filled with joy at the presence of the Lord? I hope the answer is no one! Our Lord Is Worthy!! 🌿❤️🌿❤️🌿❤️🌿
Where can I find the traditional tune?
I think this song will be very useful during the times of 2021 and 2022 here in today's America...
