Short term at first. I will visiting and staying in other towns as well. Need to figure out what part of Panama is best for me

@@keithkeith2106 Easiest way is to reserve AirBnb- this will give you freedom to experience as many places as needed. This can be really amazing trip for you, best thing to do is to prepare a good route and get accommodation along the way to see the pros and cons of every destination. Nobody knows what is right or the best for you, other than yourself. Locals and Expats are very helpful throughout the nation, make as many questions as time permits. We ended up buying two building lots in Chiriqui District, but are actively looking for properties from the Mountain communities in a cool climate as well.

Yup- it is easier to drive with manual transmission on steep hills, for sure. Some vehicles have even both manual/automatic- VW/AUDI Tiptronic, where you can lock in any gear so you don't gain excessive speed going downhill pressing down with both feet and wear out your brake pads prematurely. Still, I think 4-wheel drive is the best for extreme conditions. Rental vehicles, compact cars with 100HP or so are clearly not intended for these steep hills, and are lucky to be able to pull themselves.

Some hills are extremely steep. Altos del Maria does not have all the shops close by compared to for example El Valle de Anton, but features amazing outdoors opportunities with 19 walking trails and community is stunningly beautiful.

You are correct, these are Panamanians selling the homes featured. El Valle de Anton is "playground of the rich" according to a local Panamanian Realtor, and the prices are higher than in most places. Please keep in mind all real estate is local in nature and if you are looking for homes in very low, bargain prices, there are a lot to choose from in other areas in Panama- something for everyone for all budgets, way way lower than these prices and way way higher as well (wink, wink......)

What a nice place did the Canal Zone people choose. Times have changed by looking at the size of the mansions- the wealthy folks feel the same way and seem to be drawn to Los Destiladeros, especially.

You can simply do a google search "panachif horario de buses panama". When we bought bus tickets last time with Panachif, they only honor tickets bought during the very same day of the travel. Meaning, if you'd like to leave 1:30pm, or a late night route, you can buy the tickets in the morning to make sure you have a seat for your desired time of departure. Unfortunately, for some reason Panachif did not have an option to buy bus tickets ahead of time on the previous days.

Conway features some good merchandise, and Furniture City sells Ashley Furniture in their store around the corner, models not featured in their store can be ordered.

Amazing place to enjoy great coffee. Hope you tried their Batidos- coffee infused milk shakes, wow, after having one I feel like having 4-5 more, LOL!!

Totally agreed. We have gotten meal from Fondas in Volcan for $2.50- to $3.50-/person, but........ not this quality meat. The meat in the fondas has sometimes been very hard, no marination at all, however the beef meal for $10.50- melt right in my mouth. That Angus beef really was good, getting this same quality in the U.S. for the same price is simply not happening, unrealistic at best. Pastas in this restaurant were not especially special, I would recommend focusing on the beef/steaks. You are also correct regarding the high end gringo pricing in relation to the locals not being able to afford this food by large numbers, but comparing these gringo prices to the original gringolandia's- the U.S. and Canada, this is a bargain. We will go back for more beef here many, many times in not-so-distant future......... What a nice experience.

Please find enclosed link to the property description. This property has been on the market for a number of years- the reason it has not sold because there are no bedrooms, only a living room. Buyers would have to build another building, and most people do not want to go through a complicated construction process. Are you considering buying or renting? Please search "Andromeda & Costa Pedasi homes in, Panama", and you'll find a number of interesting properties offered both for sale and for rent in these gated communities. I would also try Airbnb, if you'll book a longer stay, for example 1 month or more, the rates are usually lower compared to daily visit. Recommend comparing Beach areas (endless selection of beautiful beaches), or if you prefer cooler temperature, the mountain areas- Altos del Maria, el Valle de Anton, Boquete, and Volcan. If you have an opportunity to stay 4 weeks or more, hit many places to see which ones you really like, and have an adventure of a lifetime.

It is truly a beautiful community, with a very comfortable climate, amenities, safety & security- great location with convenient proximity to shopping in Coronado, Panama City, and Valle de Anton.

The first property, a small 1BR/1BA house is offered for $275K- the second one 2BR/2BA house with an amazing mountain views was offered for $335K (American builder) and it sold very quickly after we released the video. Far away from civilization and the property prices… Sorry. They are a joke. Not one Panamanian person would pay that. That’s Gringo Prices. Especially North Americans don’t use their healthy senses when it comes to buying a property. You see. Here, like in most countries - there is no bidding race to buy a property. No! Here you negotiate the prices down. Because most properties are on the market for years. Don’t let you tell anything different. If you are interested in a property, go by yourself without an agent and ask neighbors how long it is on the market and how long since the owners moved. You will be surprised to hear the different stories the neighbors told you to the agent telling you. And again. How far is the supermarket, hospital etc. . Just the basic stuff you would expect in your own country. Enjoy Panama. I live here already for 5 years.
