Bucket List Northern Lights Caught on Camera
The largest northern lights event I can remember in my hometown of Edinburgh, Scotland, and in this video I share with you the process of how I chase the aurora borealis with my cameras as a photographer and vlogger.
This was from the incredible northern lights storm on October 10, 2024.

Oh my goodness, your pictures are incredible!
Beautiful photos, Sean!
I was in Edinburgh in May and tried to see the lights, but I had no vehicle. But the sky was bright even at 1 am
Great tip on getting video, I’ll have to try that next time it’s visible where I am. I noticed when I tried to get video on my phone last month that it looked like crap, but the pictures were great. I had to use the phone camera just to be able to see where it was because it was sometimes impossible to see with the naked eye.
Beautiful right above the castle 😮😊 it is magical for sure.
I live on Long Island and we were able to see the Northern Lights last month. Mostly pink and purple, very little green at the bottom. I got pretty nice pictures with my IPhone 11
Thanks for sharing
Like cold
When you came back from vacation did it go through the security x-Ray at the airport with the film still in your camera??
@@noahhvilivitzky5460 I did indeed. Not a good situation but It worked out and didn’t impact the film
What are the differences between a Glasgow accent and an Edinburgh accent
Difference between Glasgow accent and Edinburgh accent
The old Olympus camera took 2 shots per frame, too. Nostalgia!❤❤❤
Awesome. Very helpful 👌
Thank you so mutch . To see your video clip this time to shaun
How cool would next year would be if the fireworks 🎆 were set to music?
"blether" is used in American English, shifted to "blather," and now with a negative tint. "He was blathering on and on about something."
Some day I’ll be there ❤
You are definitely, definitely Scotland's answer to Rambalac - he films in and around Tokyo.
Shaun, you were exceptionally lucky. I'm Edinburgh born-and bred. So I can assure you that the chances of it raining in Edinburgh is sooooooooooo rare. Not for nothing is Edinburgh known as the Sahara of the North.
Oh man!! Blast to the past!!! I used to use cameras like this when I was younger and remember having to take the film to the store to get it developed and see all the pictures afterwards 😂 I have albums and scrapbooks of pics from then. My sister actually just bought me 1 of those new Polaroid style cameras, while nothing like the original, it was fun to use. It was cool to watch you discover something so simple and enjoyable. I took photography in school but didn't stick with it sadly. Have fun! Great pics!
If you have never taken photos with a fully manual camera, that is what really gets the creative juices flowing. Also, developing your own film and using the negatives to create the actual photos is so much fun.
Legal demais! Adorei video. From Brazil
I kind of switch to a different personality when using English? More focused, more creative, more playful... There may be a few reasons, my own language might be too connected with my life in terms of growing up in an unhealthy, toxic environment. Or it might be because it´s a different language and I am not fluent so it does take some effort which may "light up" the brain and help me overcome the depressive, passive tendencies I have. God. I should probably move abroad :).
watching from Nebraska! Felt like I was coming home! Great video! Really appreciate seeing all of the places! I've never been in person and now I must go! Inspiring!
Reading this comment from Nebraska! Cheers!
I live in Istanbul. The country I want to go to is Scotland. It is a really wonderful country.
I still have a Glasgow accent but live further north on the west coast for the last 22 years. There's only me and my wee dog, nearest neighbour is just under a mile away ,so I guess my dog barks and growls in a Glasgow accent too.
You make me want to break my old film camera out from storage. I haven’t used it since digital became a thing and honestly I have barely used my digital camera since cell phone cameras improved so much (plus my digital camera is ancient and my cell phone does larger pictures anyway!)
Do it. I was hooked from the very first moment I put a roll of film in the camera
What film types have you used in it? I have only tested black and white with my half frame Olympus Pen and need to find a nice color film to try that will suit it best.
I’ve been using Kodak Gold 200 in my Olympus Pen, but I think best results will be with super fine grain like Ektar 100 or Portra 400
Love the video. I found it extra interesting to follow your walk on Google Earth! It’s nice to explore some of the businesses and sites along the way.
Bir gün burada olurum inşallah 😢❤
The sky feel so Close ❤❤❤❤❤
Amazing, my dream is to see the Aurora while in Scotland but for some reason, I always seem to miss them.
I’m late responding but I just wanted to say thank you for sharing the parade. I’m a graduate of The College of Wooster in Ohio and the band there includes a bagpipe corps (the college was historically Scottish Presbyterian). So the sound of pipes always makes me feel nostalgic ❤
Красиво. помітила що на будинках немає балконів, а на вулицях немає рекламних біг бордів та сітілайтів. Хочу там жити)
I'm northern sweden-er and I changed my accent too when I lived down south. The northern accent I speak is influenced by finnish so sounds, just as scottish, a bit harsh. I changed it partly to be understood and partly to not stand out because that accent causes a bit of a reaction as it's quite exotic to southerners.
Have fun! That is so expensive though! That's why a loved the digital. If I messed up, I knew it right away! So, delete & do it again!
That’s a great camera for playing with and learning 35mm. Half frames give you more opportunities to catch the shot. You should consider putting together a photography zine of your work so you can share it with everyone.
On it! Starting with my favourite photos of Edinburgh 😊
oh my! it seems to high seed accent. but i love jow it sounds
Good video❤
I'm from India and I've watched the series which I loved to the core of my heart. Thanks for giving us a tour of all these castles. It gave me thrills to feel as if I was there. ❤❤❤
Great video thank you
As a young French student I spent a few months in Edinburgh in the 70s. For me this accent became the norm, which didn’t help with my studies I’m afraid 😅, still 50 years later I have a soft spot for this accent. Somehow I have the feeling Scots are using a softer version of what I heard in the 70s.
I love the nighttime walks in the rain. Much better when it’s pissinitdoon at night.
one day, I'll be there, for study and work✨🤲
7 degrees is cold down there?? i might need to visit... thats better than what im used to here in southern canada LOL
I wish they would call the American language just American or Yankee or something else that just makes it American so they can stop telling everyone the correct spelling is wrong. I'll happily own Aussie as the language I speak, especially as I've noticed American shows put subtitles on when Aussies are speaking (like the yanks do for Scots). If they need subtitles, then clearly they are speaking a different language. 😂😂 But you can thank the Americans for simplifying jewellery to jewelry for you: they couldn't be othered with a few extra letters... maybe if they do take on American as their official language they will also remove 'U' from their alphabet.
I was born and raised in the US, but my parents were born and raised in Edinburgh, so I grew up hearing the Scottish accent. I could never understand why my friends had trouble understanding my mom. Thanks for the tongue twisters. Those were new to me. Interesting to hear which words different people have trouble pronouncing.
forget posh, give it me straight Scots!
what camera?
How u grew more hair Shaun? Whats the secret?😂🎉😂
