Young fawn browsing nearby. 4 minutes of peace and calm.

Part of hunting, is slowing down and enjoying the moments of peace and pure, calming nature. This young solo fawn stayed nearby for over an hour. It is always fun to just observe. It was too fun not to share. Here is a snippet from that hour. Turn everything else off. Sit down, breath and relax. Turn the volume on and enjoy the peace only nature. Can bring. This is the "REAL" world to me.

I wanted custom features, but not the purchase price of an off-road camper. So I stopped dreaming and got to building. In 9 weeks and for about half the cost of a comparable used off-road camper I built one myself. In this camper build episode (part 2) I show how I built the interior panels and frames. I finish out the galley, add lights, vent, windows and electrical so I can start preparing fo...

Turkey Season 2024 Validation: Chasing a Chance (part 3 of 3) Arkansas Public Land

My first ever turkey season, I was successful on day 2. This year, I had to see if it had just been a fluke. I headed out on Arkansas public land to see if I could get a turkey on camera for the second year in a row. Patience and persistence were the main components in my strategy as I found myself Chasing a Chance in the final episode of my 3 part series. Spoiler Alert: I wasn't disappointed. ...

What software did you use for designing it?
@@minuteadventures6131 Sketchup free version, you can use it straight from the web-browser. It has limited features, but good enough to create final dimensions.
I like the exterlook
Well done. I have always heard to keep venison dry cold. But when I butcher chickens, turkeys, squirrels or rabbits they go in ice water. Definetely going to do the ice bath for venison. I'd assume the critical piece is to keep the meat below 40 degrees. Thanks for the video. Great stuff.
I did this with a full mat and built a 2x4 frame. I installed I bolts so I can move it with the tractor!! It is super heavy lol.
@@Lugnutz89 I bet it is! Lucky for me the frame is strong I can roll it like a big square wheel and it isn't too bad for one person. But I definitely don't want to do it very often!
Great proyect , direct to the point ! No nonsense ! 👍👍
@@EduardoJimenez-rk8nw Right on! Appreciate it!
I did the same thing years ago and kept an almost empty can of WD40 near the target and would give a little shot to the arrow shaft behind the backstop before pulling the arrow out. Worked well.

Awesome sauce! how much weight do you think you can fit on top of it? could you stand/jump up and down on it?
@@BjornBoswellSince I did poor mans fiberglass(PMF) directly onto the foam, the foam can still be dented by pushing on it so I wouldn't jump on it or walk on it. It does easily support my weight as I sat on it to work on the roof vent and when I attached the solar panels I had close to about 375lbs set on a panel while the silicone cured. If I had intended to walk on it or load/carry anything on it, I think I would probably laminate a sheet of 1/4 inch plywood before the PMF. Then I would feel confident walking on it or bouncing around without a doubt. Thanks for checking it out!
@trailandpursuit are you gonna do another one ever?
@@BjornBoswell Probably not in the immediate future, but it is a possibility. I will likely do some short videos on breaking down some of the build aspects. Also maybe some durability tests. I really want to do a foamie skiff for fishing and bowfishing, but I think I have enough hobbies for now. But maybe . . .
@trailandpursuit do you bowhunt too? where you located? I'm in MO rn

i love everything about this foamie. ill be utilizing a bunch of things you've taught me about the build. ill try routing into the foam so as to nest the skeletal framing and then panel the walls afterward, but not that that matters much. you did a wonderful job detailing the entire process. and just look at this gem you'll get to enjoy for years to come!

How much does it weigh?
Haven't officially weighed it, but trailer is about 550 and camper shell is about 350. So guesstimate is 900lbs dry.
Probably the best Poor Man’s Fiberglass finished product I’ve seen. Great job! What A/C unit did you use?
Wow, Thanks! So for starters, my priority was for low power consumption for offgrid use. So, this unit isn't designed for very large spaces or frequently opening the door etc. I was really just going for enough to take the edge off and make a dent in the high humidity of Arkansas. With that said, it has actually exceeded what I expected. I rarely off grid camp in temps higher than 90, but I ran a test on a 95 degree day (on shore power) and within 2 hours it was 76 degrees in the camper. On a very humid 80 degree night I was able to run it on the lowest settings and only use up about 50% of my 2048Wh power supply. So don't expect comparable to a window unit on shore power, but it does what I need. The only question now is how long will it last. love the foam campers
Cool so easy to mount one to a truck chassis to make a 4x4 camper for a family
Thanks for the vids. I will be using this same process and appreciate seeing your work. I have a question about the drywall anchors you used around the 3:50 mark. What exactly are you joining together with them? I see them going into the 2" foam, but what are they holding together?
In short, they can be used to attach anything to the foam. I used them to attach the floor to the foam, as well as the frames. They were also used to attach the galley box and the interior shelves. If you look in the walkthrough video you can see the screws along the framing pieces. Hope this helps. Glad you enjoyed the build!
What a great job!! Very neat and organized. I will definitely be watching. 👍🏽

Why wouldnt you have just bought an old camper and just gutted it and went from there. I know you are short but then you could have stood up inside of the camper!
Old camper leaks and are filled of mold. In other words, it’s junk and not worth investing your time and money on it. His build is much better.
I still dont understand where you go poop in that thing?

Great job on the camper! I almost didn’t watch, due to the music being loud, but your speech being quiet at the very beginning. Glad that I did, since you have some cool ideas.
Dang, sorry about that! I tried to balance the volume, but I know it can vary depending on speakers or headsets. Glad you stuck around and I appreciate the input! Thank you!

Interesting method to build. I thought this was going to be a foamie or whatever they call them (foam and fiberglass) But with the plywood… why not just just make your structure out of the plywood, then wrap it in foam?
@@Mebeknob For the main body, it's all about keeping it lightweight, so while the minimalist interior frame does add some strength, the true strength comes from the redundancy of the layers. If I had built the frame first, it would actually be quite flimsy and likely be difficult to keep square during the process so that is why the panels where constructed before assembly. If I had built the body first out of plywood it would have been approximately 350 lbs heavier than what it currently is. The body of the camper is 5ft x 10ft and 4ft tall and only weight about 350lbs! Good question! Thanks for checking it out.
@@trailandpursuit so you’re saying you would’ve had to add additional wood to be able to build the wood first, then apply the foam?
Would love to see the poor man's fiberglass!
@@MebeknobI got you, I thought you were asking why the entire body wasn't built with plywood. I attached the frame to the panels first because the foam and 3mm panels and frame altogether is where it gets it's strength. If I built the frame first, the frame by itself would be flimsy and easily become out of square, rack, or sag and not withstand pushing against it and or handle much weight during assembly of the panels (since it is a very minimalist frame). Which, would make assembly a little more complicated. Also, pre assembly allows for better glue up as I could lay the foam and panels flat with weight on top to insure even contact while the adhesive dried. Not to mention, adding the 3mm panels after the framing and foam would mean assembling everything from the inside and it would all have to be cut down to fit through the door. Resulting in more cuts, seams, and work. It definitely could be done either way. I think it is part of why some people tend to overbuild like it is a traditional 2x4 structure. They think the frame needs to be a majority of the strength, whereas, in lightweight campers it is a combination of multiple elements that provide the strength.
