After seeing a video by @DavidCanterbury doing a 25 second ridgeline, I decided to take up a challenge in the spirit of friendly competition, to make the fastest repeatable ridgeline. This is what I came up with. I did it on film in 16 Seconds but my best was 14 when practicing at home. I can repeatedly do it in 20 seconds or less if i fumble a little. I decided to create a challenge to learn f...

Doing one for my zt0630. Thanks for simple instructions.
Nice knife. I'm a Benchmade man but will go a ZT in the future i think.
Brilliantly simple!!! Aussie ingenuity!
Cheers
I’m in the United States, North, Carolina, and I love my Alton Goods tarp!
I used this on shock cord for shoe laces to make them slip ons.
Great idea. Cheers
Oooooo that's why mine funny
Thank you! Tied my first paracord lanyard using this. It’s for my small EDC screwdriver from Oknife.
Nice. Thanks for watching.
I'd use the inline 8 for a rope that I didn't intend to re-purpose. I personally prefer a directional slip knot for ease of untying and storing. Any thoughts?
I find this to be as easy to untie as a bowline and less stress on the rope than popping out a slip knot. Also if the loop twists when pulling out the slip knot, it can bind up.
Where's the follow up? Just got some 12.5mm rope that my usual technique won't work.
Cheers mate, I haven't got to making that videos yet, but the same principle applies. Form a figure 8 on the ground laying each bight on top of the last. Ill try and do a video when I'm back off holidays.
I just added a snake knot to an impact tool that I carry.
Nice. How does that help you on an impact tool? I'm curious.
Did one for my USB key.
Great idea. I might try one in microcord.
Great video
Cheers mate.
Dude seriously? Slow your ducking roll, impossible to follow. I felt like it was Superman tying a knot!
Sorry mate. I'll try to slow it down a bit
There is a longer video somewhere, I'll try and find it

What kind of stone is that? Whatever it is, it looks like a really thin flake.
Some type of granite is my best guess. Very hard and sharp.
I just put/saved this video on a new Playlist, and am thinking of making it a collaborative UA-cam Playlist . I'm going to wait for a week or two and hopefully not forget to make further action on developing the concept. It seems like a fair idea "marketing"/sharing modality, to accumulate video compilations.
Sounds like a good idea.
Smooth as mate
Cheers Rick.
Thanks for the video! I use this hitch to attach the anchor line to anchor trolley's ring on my kayak. It's easy and convenient to tie with just one hand. Just pull the first bite through the ring, grab a bite from the standing line, repeat with the free end and that's it. In a case of some emergency or if you just got a really big fish and don't want to let it tangle around your anchor line, you just release this knot and throw the rope away, there is a float on the end so you can pick it up later. btw, we call it pirates hitch in Russia.
Handy tip, thanks.
Great knot. But if you're using a slick flexible rope, like mule tape, it will come undone.
Yep. There are ways of making it more secure like a full twist or double half twist for plastic rope and mule tape. I have other videos on that. Cheers
Easy to undo?
Reasonably easy yeah.
knife
Thank you! I just made a lanyard for my Otacle U1 utility knife.
I just got the Otackle for my kit. Good piece of kit.
@ yes, sir! Definitely a must have!
I love your pag5fetþ
Thanks mate. I appreciate it.
Oh yay, a backwards view.
I've started making first person view videos by popular demand.
That's not a knife, that's a spoon.
Haha. I have my fair share if both lol
@@OutdoorAcademyAustraliaFrom The Simpsons a parody of Crocodile Dundee. I used your video to add a lanyard to a CRKT works great it was fun.
Been trying to figure this out for ages and I got it within 5 minutes of watching this 👍
Awsome, glad i could help.
I prefer the dumb American way with the slip knot. Why? Because I only use a trucker’s hitch a few times a year, and it’s stupid easy to remember. If I tied it every day, different story.
Fair enough. Do what works for you.
Thank you mate! I'm putting a lanyard on a Milwaukee Utility knife!
Cheers mate. I have a couple of the Milwaukee pocket knives. Awsome tools.
Genius!!! Thanks for sharing. Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷
Cheers mate. Glad you liked it.
Best starting tutorial out!
Cheers mate. Glad you liked it.
Very helpful To Do video. I want to add a short paracord lanyard to my Microtech UTX-85 OTF Switchblade.
Nice. Glad I could help. Thanks for watching
😂 Love how the pup didn’t know what was going on; and flopped on his side.
Haha, she still loves a belly rub lol
So simple. So easy. I like the Larks Head for the same reasons.
I like to keep it simple. No need to complicate it. Cheers
Are these more secure than the figure 8? Ironworker here and i always used it to secure steel lugs putting it thru a bolt hole.
More secure yes, but harder to untie afterwards if tension is applied. I'm a coal miner and use the figure 8 most often than not.
Thank You!! So easy to follow!❤
@@HelloNatalieK cheers, glad you liked it.
I can build million dollar machines, program and operate CNC machines but tying knots is very difficult for me. I guess I need a layout or print. My father could tie many knots and he remembered them forever. Your tutorial was absolutely the best. I must have watched a dozen different videos and yours was by far the simplest and the best, thank you.
Cheers mate. I have knots I've done dozens of times and still sometimes I grab the cordage and have a mind blank. I went to moor the boat yesterday and had a complete mind blank lol. Luckily I could watch one of my own videos to refresh my memory lol. I must be getting old.
At the end of this video you mentioned to always rest your hat upside down and then you place the hat on it's CROWN, but say you are resting it on it's BRIM 😮 unless hat anatomy is different between Southern and Northern Hemispheres 😅😂🎉 Happy Boxing Day 🎊
Haha, Good pick up. My head said crown and my mouth said brim lol. The ADHD is strong in this one. All the best for the new year mate.
Finally someone doing it the way I was taught. Cheers mate
No worries. Just gotta show the others how to do it right.
I reckon keeping on learning to tie knots and learning to play an instrument like Piano and guitar are helping to save my aging braincells from dementia and mental beffudlement etc 😅👌🏼
100%. If you don't use it, you lose it.
@OutdoorAcademyAustralia too true my good Sir. I tied a lanyard on my Olight O-Pry 2 mini prybar. My fingernails are too short so it comes in useful. Now it's easier to whip out of my left 5.11 pants compartment pocket, which can get quite fiddly with their number and depth (those pockets...ya can lose gear in em 😂)@@OutdoorAcademyAustralia
Give me that dang dog! What a cutie!!! Thank you for the knot 😎
You made that so easy, in less time. What is the knife company?
BPS knives from the Ukraine. Best value knife on the market IMO
This is great information! I've been using the Alpine Butterfly method for decades but will experiment with your faster suggestions!
Cheers mate. Here is the fastest one I've got. ua-cam.com/video/iv-35Y8u8JY/v-deo.htmlsi=dAnUx9qIyri6Njxq
Looks like a monkey fist like, cool.
It does a bit. Nice decorative knot.
Thank you❤
Thanks for watching.
I use one of your truckie methods but I'd like to see how set this one. Do you have another video on this one?
@@pappysproductions Hey mate. I've got a few videos on the truckies hitch. What application were you interested in. I'll send you a link or make another one for you.
Watched it 4 times .Wow, it's pretty cool, mate
@@ToddMatthewSmith cheers mate. I have a couple more videos on it that explains it a bit more clearly.
Sir, please, make it slowly and more near to the camera so that we can copy. Tks.

Awesome
Seems like a full twist would be the easiest to do and remember.
Yep. It's what I usually use
🔥
Cheers
Love it so much more work done with less effort
Cheers. Glad you liked it.
If you’re pulling a bicycle sure but that rope simply isn’t rated for the typical 20k lb load capacity that a true soft shackle is designed for. Especially not that nylon utility rope
Just a demo mate. I wasn't going to cut my Dyneema for a 1 minute video.
