I've got this feeling too. There's far too many moments in season 2 where 001 says something and Gi-Hun looks at him as if he knows but is trying to keep a poker face. All moments i could see them throwing together in a big anti-reveal twist montage where Gi-Hun was playing the FM the entire time and even this failed rebellion is part of his plan. Makes sense why they would split the season in two since it means whatever happens next is going to change the status quo of what just happened in the finale, otherwise they wouldn't split it.

I mean even if 125 is a VIP, that doesn't mean that he would have shown up in the first season. Would all the VIPs (who given their wealth are probably very important businessmen) really make the journey out to the games every year? And given how old 125 looks he could always be the son of a VIP.

I think this theory could be true because the vips symbolize us and how we like watching the show and min su could symbolize people playing squid games on like Roblox.

I don't see anyone talking about this much. But there is a theory - what if Gi-Hun made a pact with 011 before joining the game. Before Gi-Hun goes to the island we see a small "encounter" between him and 011 in the hallway and she looks back at him. Why did the director show us that? Just to show that she knows him? But a lot of the workers from previous games probably know him, it's not a big deal. To show that she has been in the games before? There are other ways to do it, like when she talks to the square and he says that they have known each other for years. I feel like they focus on her a lot, but what is her importance to the plot? Just to help the little girl's father? Or is there something more? She sabotages the organ harvesting and from her conversation with the square it seems like she is starting to get disillusioned with the system. Maybe she contacted Gi-Hun before joining the game and they made an additional plan.

Well, I still don’t think he knows. In the end, Gi-hun chose Jung-bae to go to the control room and left Young-il there. That move was a fatal mistake whether he wanted to “befriend” or “eliminate” Young-il. It was like turning back at the finish line. That only makes sense if Gi-hun didn’t see that the “finish line” aka Frontman was right in front of him.

I think Gi Hun fell for the 001 scheme a second time because he trusted the frontman with a weapon and never told anyone he trusts to keep an eye on the frontman. Way too much trust with such a high cost as everything was on the line at the end of the season. I don't buy the whole Gi Hun was playing the frontman explanation because "fool me once ..." does in fact turn into "I got fooled twice" in many real life cases where people "should" have known, but still fell for the same thing.

The Frontman was clearly shown listening to the stories Gi Hun was talking about one night, from his bed, with eyes open. The camera zooms in on him as well. The Frontman must have heard his name from other times the season doesn't show. They can't show you every part of everything that happens, because that would be unrealistically way too long for any season. So I can't jump on board with that justification. If anything, I'm on the fence at best with the frontman not hearing Gi Hun's name.

Sure, it looks valid with all that edites scenes, but I think it was on purpose to make viewers root for Gi hun to realize Young Ill's real identity. Once Gin hun gives him the extra ammunition it's over. Also when he screems to the walkie talkie - shows he has no idea who Young Ill really is. So unfortunatelly I don't think he has any clue.

I like the theory but it feels like a stretch based on the fact that we know all along who the player 001 really is, inferring that Gi-hun could have guessed too and put on a double role. The idea is very appealing but there's no concrete evidence of this, only looks and faces that can be heavily and differently interpreted. We have no inside insight of what Gi-hun really thinks about player 001.

I liked the theory! Yeah it's still strange why Gi-hun let the frontman have a weapon and participate in the rebellion, but the only way to stop the frontman from doing so would be killing him, which doesn't sound very easy. Even if he tried to shoot the frontman from behind in the middle of the rebellion, his friends could see it and get hostile towards him / give an opening to the guards. During the rebellion, Gi-hun also specifically called his friend to go as his double instead of the frontman, and the show does make sure to highlight this, by making his friend ask why he didn't call the frontman instead. But I wonder what Gi-hun will do now, as the frontman is not playing anymore - he lost his last advantage.

I was thinking about this too. But Gi Hun can’t reveal what he knows. He has to go along with the rebellion until he knows for sure. I like the subtle details in the show that highlights Gi hun’ s suspicion.

Much of this is a pretty big stretch, and even if Gi-Hun was slightly suspicious he doesn't know. Gi-Hun is barely competent, but even he would not equip 001 with a gun and no oversight as part of his rebel band with the knowledge that he'll be a traitor.

I really like this theory, but there is one little hole in it in my opinion. If he knew 001 was the frontman why the hell did he let him go alone with the other two players behind the guards in the end of the season?
