      You would need to re design the wings/airfoil for that. The VNE is only 150.

    Damn, I was hoping to see the gear come up as you took off., ha, ha, ha, Wow, what a beautiful 3 point landing. Doesn't get any better than that. I must say that is the BEST looking Hummel Bird I've ever seen. I've flown some different planes, over 40 years, but your plane is the "coolest" I've seen. I love that plane. My last Experimental Amateur Built plane was an EROS 1650 Minimax. I flew that one over 13 years and put over 750 hours on it. It was more fun than any of the others - well, maybe the Arrow, but their wings started falling off. I would guess that when the DAR or FAA showed up for your AW inspection, they signed it off immediately. . :-) Any plane built that nicely certainly has it "all together." :-) Love it. N6395T Thanks for letting us see it.

    My Air Guard unit was flying F-100's back in the 1970's. A few times I got to go out to the test pad when they were doing engine maintenance like this. You'd be standing a few feet away from the engine while it was running and when the afterburner lit. It was very loud of course but you could also feel the heat pouring off of it. I also got two rides in an F-100F so I had a chance to see and feel what its like to ride in front of the engine.

    That's just amazing... 37hp from two cylinders with a top speed of 114mph! Let me guess.., at cruise it only burns 5-6 gal/hr? I'll eat my shoe if it burns any less! Beautiful aircraft!

    • @H5steve
      @H5steve 4 роки тому

      At 105 mph cruise it burns 1.7 gal per hour. that equals 61 mpg.

      @@H5steve Good thing I have some BBQ sauce, this shoe is gonna be tough! :) Wow, that small amount of fuel consumption is impressive. Then again, it is only HALF of a VW...? LOL. I'm accustomed to these Rotax two stroke motors, yet even with 64 horsepower and drinking twice the amount of fuel I can't even come close to your cruise in a Kolb MKIII. However, I realize I'm comparing a prize winning Red Delicious apple to an old coconut. Again, what a beautiful aircraft. I love that runway, I didn't see any dirt. And all that green vegetation! Not one tumbleweed! Nice! Just add extreme hot temperatures, variable wind from 5 - 30mph from directions than change during the day along with the fact that the sun will bake, boil and ruin anything left outside and now you know the perks of flying in Nevada! Ugh. :( Happy flying, Sir! Stay safe.

      the 1/2 vw is common now. the Citroen 2CV motor is well adapted to aircraft, but you wont see 37 hp from it. ( doubt anyone actually has dyno'd one of these)

      I'm also retired from the airlines and feel no interest in flying part 91. Just too much buck for too little bang (at near $200/hr for 172 and CFII). May I suggest flight sims? I couldn't believe how far they've come. The graphics are amazing and I'm even talking about day VFR flying. I felt all of my old habit patterns coming back after a couple hours of "flying" and I was not spending a dime!! 😊 Right UP a civilian pilot's alley. 😂
