Angus - war and hospital
Two extracts from 'Angus, Weaver of Grass', 2013. Sections from scenes depicting Angus's wartime descent into mental breakdown, followed by his move to Craig Dunain Psychiatric Hospital, outside Inverness. Music by Loz Kaye, and with performers MJ Deans, Jordanna Kielty-O'Neill, Mark Whitaker and Jonny Quick, This and other parts of the performance were developed with help from Màiri Nic'IlleMhoire.

Two sections from 'Angus, Weaver of Grass' from 2013. The first is the boy Angus making a sleepy entrance. The second section is of Angus, now a young man about to leave to war. The final part of this uses an animation by Ellie Chaney. Music by Loz Kaye and performed by Mark Whitaker, Jonny Quick, MJ Deans and Jordanna Kielty O'Neill.

Another sequence from 'Angus, Weaver of Grass'. Filmed in 2013. Angus, after living for 50 years as an elective mute in Craig Dunain Hospital in the Highlands, receives a letter telling him that he will return to his old home on Uist.
Angus Fighting the Dragon

A short section from the 2013 tour of "Angus, Weaver of Grass", when Angus goes to war, imagining himself a knight of old. This is the precursor to the 'At War' scene, which leads to Angus suffering profound mental disturbance. The singer/narrator is MJ Deans, and the puppeteers are Mark Whitaker, Jonny Quick and Jordanna O'Neill.

It's s small-scale project but represents Horse & Bamboo's long-standing strand of work with and for people with learning differences. In memory of John Bishop, whose work with CUBE influenced our work on this and other projects.
