Did inspection on the engine after machine has fallen on hit's side. Main bearing and Rod bearing OK. All component were ok Engine started fine and all reading are ok.

Ran engine without valve cover to see if rockers were getting oil. Cylinder #1 took more time but finally oil was getting there.

Whare are the glow plug and injectors thank u in advance
Glow plug are located under the intake manifold. Injectors are under the valve cover, thoses are injevtion pump + injector unit driven by the camshaft (over head camshaft). They have to be "timed" individualy.
Hello, I have the same type of engine, only I have a problem with it, it runs normally as long as it is cold, after it warms up it stops starting. The injection pumps no longer send diesel to the injectors, We bought new injection pumps thinking they were broken, but even with the new ones the engine reacts the same way. I thought it was a cooling problem and I checked if the fans are blowing air to cool and they seem to be working normally as well. The engine is 95% sealed, it still loses a little air on some gaskets, but not so much that you can say that this would be the wave of causes. It would help us a lot if you could direct us to something, we don't know what else to check to fix the problem. Thank you!
- Have you checked you oil pressure ? * If the oil pressure goes down as the engine warm up it might shut down the engine as safety purpose. - Does it have enough fuel Supply (lift pump working properly)? - Check your belt tensioner there is a system that when the belt brakes, it will shut down the engine (if wrong belt is installed or as stretched).
@@martinst-amand5117 Thank you, I checked the belt is ok, on the other hand I don't know if the oil pressure is good, is it possible that the oil radiator is partially clogged and this causes the engine to overheat due to improper cooling of the oil?
Deutz Engine and Volvo Design
Any advice on fitting a reconditioned injector pump? It’s the original pump that’s been reconditioned. I fitted the pump but there seems to be no fuel pressure so I’m not sure if the timing is off or what could be the problem. It’s a 1D41s engine and my first time working with it
Reconditionned fuel injection pump does not exist. Pump shoud create pressure even if it is not timed properly. Timing is set with shim ans gasket (number on block + number on pump)

Hello, I have a problem with my Hatz 1D42 engine. I have replaced the piston and cylinder. The first time I used it, after 5 minutes the speed slowly dropped until the engine stopped completely. It then started to smoke black. Now it no longer starts. I disassembled the injection valve, cleaned it and tested it together with the injection pump. Everything is fine so far. Then I checked whether the valves were tight and measured that the exhaust valve was leaking. Then I grinded in the valve and now it is better, but the engine still does not run. It is always about to start but smokes a lot and won't run without the starter. The only other thing I can think of is that the diesel is being injected too early or too late. How can I check this? What else do you think could be the problem?
Have you checked your main bearing ? It might have turn into the engine crankcase, that would cause a blocage of the piston cooling nozzle. I would check if your piston is not seizing to the cylinder. If it ran fine for 5 minutes, that means your injection was ok, no need to recheck timing, it never goes bad unless someone changed something on it!
@@martinst-amand5117 Many thanks for the quick reply!!!! When I replaced the piston, I checked everything and everything was fine. The crankshaft bearing was in good condition and it was easy to turn the crankshaft. When I had the cylinder head off yesterday I could easily turn the crankshaft on the flywheel.
@@lucass2934 when you replaced piston and cylinder was it "gripped" on the piston skirt? If so it is moslty because of that bearing having turned. Bearing will not be damaged, there is 2 ways to find out. Removed piston and cylinder and feed air or oil by the oil port under the oil filter and you should have a skirt of oil comming out of the little hole in the crankcase or remove crankshaft and inspect the bearing alignment hole should be at 12o clock ! I press out the bearing and re-Align then drill a tiny hole between bearing and crankcase and put a little setscrew to prevent it to turn again later on.

This company produced 1 cylinder, V2, and V4 engines beginning in 1961 in Cunewalde Germany which was East Germany at that time. Engines bear a close resemblance to the Deutz brand. Another company that made a similar engine is S.A.M.E. in Italy. They built a 3.4L V4 used in their Centauro 60 tractors which had 58HP and then increase displacement to 3.8L for the model 65 which had 64HP. Unfortunately, virtually none of these found their way to North America. The Deutz air cooled diesels were about all we got in this country.
I didn't think anyone else made V4 diesels.

Oil temperature depends on Oil grade, with 15W40 we test engine full load and temperature can reach 110c (depending also on ambiant temperature).

I do not remember but at least 1 week. I have to measure all components and torque everything to specs. That does not count the cleaning / sanblasting of many parts

They are manufactured by Deutz, they are BF6M1013 with your serial number I can tell you the Deutz exact type.

Regular diesel pop tester and adaptor is sold by Any Kohler Diesel Dealer.

I've heard D7E's that make low pitch droning noises. Is that the air compressors?
There is no air compressor on this one, Dyno room sometimes does not reflect actual sounds.

When you remove side cover for timing, do not pull too hard if cover does not want to open, turn crankshaft slowly until cover open. The governor/oil pump might interfer with the gears.

Can I get your opinion on why my Hatz z 790 is not turning over easily? Starter looks new and brushes are fine. Battery is new. Seems like the compression stroke stops the starter. With injectors removed it turns over fine.
Have you checked the valve clearance (valve lash) ? Is there liquid in your cylinder when you remove injector? Might have a leaking injector causing a hydrolic lock. When was the last time this engine ran ?
@@martinst-amand5117 Thanks for the quick reply Martin! I purchased the engine at an auction, so it I am unsure when it was last run. Ugh, a hydraulic lock. That could be it. Hope I did not damage anything, like a rod. I seriously wonder about the engine lying on it's side for an 15 minutes is the issue. Oil may have crept into areas that it shouldn't. I did not see liquid when I scoped it. I will do a snake camera of the cylinders and present it here on youtube. I will tear in to the top-end today. Again, thank you for your reply !!
@@urgentcareguy3 Before removing top I would remove injector and try to put them outside of the engine and crank engine, you should see if it leak or spray nice and at the same time if there is fuel/oil on top of piston it will be blowned out trough the injector hole..If it dors blow liquid out and injector are ok it might be because of what tou said ! Just clear it with starter and start it ! Might just smoke for a litlle and you are all set...but if it was at auction might be more major than that !

@@urgentcareguy3 seem pretty clean, but like I said, Check valves lash 0.1 mm (Metric), if Ok, remove injector and injection line outside engine and try to crank (watch so you don't get sprayed with the fuel 180 bar injection) you should see if your engine is injecting fuel properly and check if you see any liquid cumming out of the injector hole (put a rag over so if there is liquid it will not spray all over).. Also you might want to put your oil filter on and check oil pressure with a gauge if possible. Hydraulic lock will be if you have liquid between piston and cylinder head.

@@cunerider3028 I could not find the year the manufacture those engine, I did not know if they where shipped all around the world ? When did theu stop manufacturing them ? I mostly work on Deutz Diesel engine and this one looks similar to the Deutz.

What do you need to know ? Pump is timed with a shim under it. It has ro be calulated with the code on pump and code on engine block. This spill timing was to confirm acurate timing (if it match)

@@martinst-amand5117 You are correct. The manual says to add the code on the engine block, which mine is 2,7 (2.7mm) plus the number stamped on the pump 4 (.4mm) which equals 3.1mm. So my question is if the shims are supposed to also measure 3.1mm? because the shims I took off measure .140" which is 3.55mm. Also there are numbers printed on the pump next to the part number, it says +1.2, the number shown to use in the manual is the stamped number though, as in hit with a hammer and number punch. Any help is appreciated
@@dcbrunk shim must equal number on pump + number on block. You are correct 2.7 on block + 4 (2.7mm + 0.4mm) = 3.1mm shim. Must be checked with a micrometer (more acurate than caliper). Paper gasket are 0.1mm
Thank you for your reply. Few people seem to know how to work on these but I am trying to learn. I obtained a service manual but it was not clear about if it should match or not. I am looking for a problem as my engine does not run correctly, purchased with only 30 hrs, so im investigating. The shims that were on it measure .140" which is 3.55mm, and I need 3.1mm. 1mm is 1 degree of timing according to the manual, so that means I am .4 deg retarded from what is intended. I already reassembled the other day as it was, as I have no other shims to trade out. Do you think that .4mm will be a problem?@@martinst-amand5117

I have a 2007 artic cat diesal, it is hard to start and can take several minutes. once she starts it will not idle. I have adjusted all the cables and checked the idle screw. If I throttle it before she dies, she will race foe a long while then slow down and die on idlw again. The only way I can keep her running is by perminantle adjusting thew throttle. any idears what the problem is. All filters have been changed and fuel system bleed from flow and return banjo screwws.
Mary Gray did you check your fuel supply pump you should build at least 3psi.. does the engine smoke ? If it smoke what color blue, white, black ? Does it the exhaust make your eye cry/itch ?
How many miles or hours to change timing belt? I'm dreading to do mine. By the looks of your tires, you have a lot of hours!
