Why is this addon not working with Godot 4.4beta1? :( It says the script addon cannot be loaded
I haven't tried 4.4 yet, since it's still in beta! Are you using the C# version of the Beta?

i could not find the " c# solution " and then i cant enable it , it shows Unable to load addon script from path: 'res://addons/terrabrush/Plugin.cs'.
Make sure to use the C# version of Godot 🙂

It's a good alternative I'd say! In some ways it can do more (water, snow, etc.) 🙂

Eh, no matter how cool it looks, it requires C# :(, unfortunately the choice falls only on Terrain3D, although I would gladly use this plugin if not for C#
I get it! A lot of people are stopped by the fact that it's C#. You can still use the GDScript on your side even when using C# but I know it's not for everyone! Maybe that will change! I can't promise anything, but maybe at some point it will be available for Godot Native 🤞
@@spimortdev I'm not trying to disparage C# in any way, it's great in its own right, I'm a developer who came from Unity, but GDScript has become surprisingly more convenient
@@firerunnew Oh no I know, don't worry! TBH, GDScript is good for what it does! At first TerraBrush was only for my own game which is in C#, that's the only reason 🙂
@@spimortdev Yea. I am using Hterrain for now but I want to use terra brush so bad. I cant use it bc of C#.I hope you port it to gdscript somehow. In this way more people will use terra brush like me. You should write a doc for more understandability. And explain the usage for spesific things like procedural generation, runtime editing etc. Continue on improving this addon brother 👋
@@darksignal_dev not impossible that something will happen, but we'll see! I know a lot of people don't want to use it because of c#. The reason why it's on c# is that it was for my own game at first, and my game is in c#. I decided to release it for people's to use it, but at first the goal was not to make it available for everyone.

I cannot for the love of me make the foliage system work. It all looks like Squares and doesn't look like the sprite at all. I followed every single step, but something in th e latest versions of godot or TerraBrush are different
Yes, the foliage has impoved quite a bit now! The way it works (with the multimesh strategy) is to provide albedo textures for the foliage (it's a new property in the definition). If needed, feel free to join my discord server, I can help you with that! (link in the bio)

when I add the texture to the mesh it just stays a white block, only when I switch to particle 3d does it change , any suggestions to fix it?
Make sure to provide the Albedo texture property on the foliage definition 🙂 If needed, feel free to join my discord server (link in the bio), I could help you there!

The foliage system has changed quite a bit since this video, I'd suggest you to check my last one about it 🙂 The way it works now is to provide albedo images, albedo color, or custom shader Let me know if it works!

Could you make multiplayer?
Anything is possible, but since I can't release the game (I don't want to have problems with nintendo), making it multiplayer is not worth it 🙂
Sound balancing needs work-especially with the footsteps. The shell didn't have the sound effects when skiing. Entering the worlds should have some sound effects to better immerse the world. Bob-omb running was too loud compared to the silent steam that they usually exude when running.

you made a very good joob with this tool! congratulations!! i have a question: is there a way to place scenes like houses (scenes that not are objects to be scattered or multimeshes, they are individual things) in a way the map loads them when a terrain chunk loads? i found a way to know in wich chunk we are (camera) and that would help to load by my self scenes belonging to that chunk, but i would like to know if there is a built in way to do it, Thanks in advance!
I answered on twitter but I'll answer it here as well 🙂 The thing with your question is that "chunks" are not really loaded dynamically. It's a clipmap, so the terrain is sent to the shader all the time, but when it goes too far from the center, there are just no polygon being displayed. So there is no way really to identify if "chunks" are being displayed since they are not really chunks. One thing I could do, is to add an event when I move the clipmap, which occures only when the camera moves a certain distance. Would that help? For the floating point, I've done nothing special for this, so I guess it could be problem if you have a too large terrain. Let me know, I hope this helps! :)
