I will start this video with a short recap of things I have done shortly before making this video. Use the chapters if you want to go straight to the mounting part.

    • @DutchedShedBuilds
      @DutchedShedBuilds 27 днів тому

I dont think i have. If you are starting out I would highly recommend getting a service manual for your make/model. So a Haynes or Clymer manual. Those tell you exactly what to do. The carbs on a gs450 are very simple and basic. So just keep track of what you take off, check the manual for all the parts that are supposed to be there (because sometimes the previous owner skipped a part) and you should be fine. If i find a moment I'll try to make that video. If you have questions just let me know.

I have no idea but maybe it's possible to have 2 switchable mics, one inside helmet for talking and another on the bike out of the wind for engine sounds. Back in 1982 a mate had the cx500, i disliked how it looked then but it's growing on me in my old age.

The CX500 hasnt got the most tasty as far as the headlight and fairing at the front, i totally I agree. But the look of the engine (and reliabillty) are they biggest pro's. And its a lovely bike to ride. NOt to heavy, not to light. As far as the sound... combine input might be an option (maybe us a splitter for the mic?). But what im learning is that i will have to use a second device..

bullet connecters should work oke. Anything that will conduct electricity will work. But be aware that water will get in there, so find some way to keep the water out. Hi Rob, upgrading the headlight to led will require an additional led-resistor. But i used the motogadget and that takes care of that issue. Other then that you can put on any light you want. Not sure what you mean with the threaded plugs, the plugs have pins in them and you just twist them on to the sparkplug wire. The caps are usually sold as a complete unit. Just turn them straight on fresh wire. They self tap so to speak. Hope that helps. You are welcome to dm me on instagram of via my website

I found some old unused plugs on eBay that the caps would unscrew. i dont think ngk makes them anymore. Only solid ends.@Freeman-eo2lx

@DutchedShedBuilds when I got this bike in the spring, I thought I had issues with my petcock because it would not turn. Now that I replaced that if I ever leave it in the prime position with a bike off gravity will take fuel all the way through the engine and I have to change the oil every time. I have to really make sure that it is in the on position at rest.

Do you recall what coils you used when you replaced the originals? I have a CX with a misfire and I'm pretty sure it's a coil issue. Replacement originals are nowhere to be found!

I never replaced the originals with aftermarket ones. The ones I used to test them were originals also. And in the end I never swapped the old ones as they were not the issue in this case. Dont know where you live but here in Holland they are fairly easy to come by (second hand and new)

Ok thanks for getting back to me. I’m in Canada and they’re tough to come by here. I’ll keep checking - I definitely am missing spark sometimes.

Top spul!

Thanks for sharing the show! For all of us who couldn't be there. I really share your appreciation of the building itself! And of course there are a lot of cool bikes. 👍🙏 Cool thing to do with dads. 🙂✌️

You are more than welcome! The building is really cool. The entire area is to be honest. Maybe you could go and have look yourself at some point in time!

Good repair! I had my carb fixed with a similar Dutch product years ago and never leaked.

Lets see if it holds up to petrol and vibration like you said. If it does then this is a great fix.

I've seen it used to repair a leaking petrol tank on another video, so I think it will be ok in the carb. I would be tempted to remove the bare minimum to leave a fillet around the base

Oke, that is reasurring to hear about the fuel-resistance. Yeah i hope i didnt take too much away but it feels pretty solid. Although if that idle-mixture-screw gets stuck over time it might cause the repair to break. I guess i will find out

I think any 2-part Epoxy Resin, such as Araldite, would work!

I totally agree with you. I shoud have mentioned that in the video that there are plenty of different brands available. But this one just came along so often that I had to give it a go.

Way too many BMWs and you walked straight past the cool red Moto Guzzi (one of the most beautiful engines of a bike ever made for customising). Other than that many thanks for showing us all the beautiful custom bikes. A bit too hipster for me I think I'll keep to the more classic bike shows but still very nice to see what people have created.

The pro-builders did most (if not all) the BMW’s. Most of which are commissioned bikes. So a big market. I skipped a lot of beautiful bikes, i just wanted to give you guys a look at the motoshow. I think you would have enjoyed yourself, the athmosphere is really chilled. And you can skip the hipster tattoo and barber things if you want 😉
