Now Living
Приєднався 21 лис 2023
Join our family of four as we create our version of the new American dream- the version in which we prioritize our family, authentic human connection, and the things that we want to do instead of only having time to do what we must do. By traveling full-time, we discover who we truly are and experience the beauty of living abundantly, in the present moment- in the now. We are now living.
Bus Conversion: A Beautiful Disaster
We arrived in Georgia and began working on several different projects on the bus- finishing insulation, laying a acoustic barrier on the floors, and placing a reflective thermo barrier on the walls. Although it was a total disaster, we have transformed the bus into a cozy home.

It's time to move south for the winter! After leaving Iowa, we travel through Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida before arriving in Georgia and stay in the bus while filming along the way. #busconversion #buslife #familyvlog ua-cam.com/channels/D09fN55gBuWQ_qOu-cbZdQ.html patreon.com/NowLiving?Link profile.php?id=61560778624036 Song Credits: 1....

Returning to Bus Life in ONE WEEK!!!
Переглядів 207Місяць тому
With only one week left until we move south for the winter, Scott is still working over-the-road to fund the conversion project. He does manage to make it home a couple of times, and while he is home, there is work to do, so he inspects the leaking problem inside the bus. He returns to work, Amos gets his cast off, and Kali begins to re-evaluate her priorities and make sacrifices for a more fam...
Making the Most of It

To fund our bus conversion, Scott is still working away from home- and away from us. In the meantime, we do a variety of things to make good use of our time and to enjoy our days despite returning to ordinary life. #busconversion #buslife #familyvlog ua-cam.com/channels/D09fN55gBuWQ_qOu-cbZdQ.html patreon.com/NowLiving?Link profile.php?id=61560778624036 Song Credits: 1. Taking a (Short) Break From the Bus
Переглядів 429Місяць тому
We arrive in Southwest Iowa where we decide to take a break from the bus. For a few weeks, Kali and the boys will be staying at her brother’s house while Scott goes to drive truck over-the-road. We settle into the house, get the bus cleaned up, and finish a couple small projects before Scott hits the road. #busconversion #buslife #familyvlog ua-cam.com/channels/D09fN55gBuWQ_qOu-cbZdQ.html patre...
Are We Really Doing This?

While preparing to leave the Midwest for the winter, Kali realizes that she has been afraid to leave behind everything that she knows. As much as she would like to stay, she knows that it is impractical without having the appropriate set-up to endure the cold while living in the bus. To prepare to move on, we return our rental car that we have been using to work for Uber and try to look at the ...
How Will We Survive?!

While bus life is rewarding, there are major difficulties and stressors. Although we have greatly reduced our monthly expenses, coming up with an income while never being in one place for long is challenging. Because we are struggling financially, conversion projects on the bus must wait while we work hard to meet our goals- and here is how we (attempt) to do it. When life gives us lemons, we m...
Our Bus Is Empty but Our Hearts Are Full

We decide to stay in the bus full-time instead of returning to tent camping. Watch us settle into our new campsite north of Omaha, NE where we prepare the bus for full-time living. Part of this preparation includes creating a bike rack hitch to keep the bicycles out of the bus while moving to new locations in the future. Once settled in, it is time to explore the beauty surrounding us. #busconv...

We settle into our new campsite outside Omaha, NE and decide to camp inside the bus instead of a tent. We update electrical on the bus and cut our mattress down from a king to a queen to make it fit better. While working on projects on the bus, the boys go on a biking adventure that results in Amos fracturing his arm. #busconversion #buslife #familyvlog ua-cam.com/channels/D09fN55gBuWQ_qOu-cbZd...
Home Is Where the Tent Is

With nowhere else to go and the cold weather tormenting the north, we reserve a campsite in Iowa where we can work on the bus while living in a tent. As convenient as this spot is for us, we are only able to stay for eleven nights with the upcoming reservations for the site. Despite this short amount of time, we get a lot accomplished on the bus. We finish demolishing the old floor, partially i...
Where Will We Go From Here?

We are already homeless, and now, things are not going according to plan. While finishing up the preparation to get the bus insulated, we make the last-minute decision to replace the floor due to urine-infested insulation resulting in rust. This pushes back our timeline by several weeks. Until the bus is in living condition, we will remain homeless. #busconversion #familyvlog #homeless ua-cam.c...
Is a Normal Summer Even Possible?!

Thirty days was not enough time to make our bus livable- the demo is almost finished, though. We reinstall the windows on the bus, reorganize our storage unit, and move out of our apartment. We are officially homeless but determined to figure something out- this will not rain on our parade! To celebrate all our hard work, we take the boys to the local fair- we are just trying to feel normal. Is...

Merry Christmas!! And great job!!! I miss you guys!! Love you!! Mom
Merry Christmas! We love and miss you!
Merry Christmas to you all wishing you all the best for 2025 can't wait to see all the coming videos on the bus build👍🏻👍🏻
Merry Christmas to you! Thank you for watching!
Awesome!!❤❤❤❤

Van life would be so amazing. We see a lot of van-lifers at campgrounds, and it seems so easy being able to just drive and fit anywhere, but I imagine the limited space comes with its own challenges. Good luck to you on your journey!
Me and my family are in Tulsa Oklahoma. We are planning to start van life in January.
Give the man a break !!!
🫡😇😉
I am anxiously following your progress. I made the mistake of moving into my Bus before any of the systems were in place. So yes, it is fully furnished, but the windows have not been resealed, nothing is insulated. I don’t have flooring down, and rust proofing paint in the floor has peeled horribly in the back third of the bus. I have two extension cords ran from my cabin, which my best friend is living in.(long story) and there is so much I want to do, but the thought of unloading two sets of bunkbeds, a twin bed, three dressers, three large storage shelving units, 2 portable acs, and 20 some totes, etc Is unsurmountable being in a power chair. One day, I am going to have to rent a storage unit for a month, hire people to unload the bus, and then have all the insulation and flooring done, put water tanks and water hook ups in the sink, etc. and then pay somebody to put everything back. 🤪😞 so for now I am managing with jugs of water and I am going to get two solar panels installed on my roof in November. Good luck and God bless, I wish I was your age and not 62. JeffeysMom ❤️🙏👍🏻🐾👨🦼✌️🏕️🚍
We appreciate you tuning in! You may have to hang on for a while though as our conversion progress has slowed down quite a bit. Right now we are focusing more on generating an income to fund the conversion and not much more than what you have seen in the videos has been accomplished. I wouldn't consider it a mistake if it's working for you for now. I (Kali) continually need to remind myself that there is no rush as long as our set-up is working for us- it's one day at a time. It sounds like you have a lot of work to do as well, but we will all get there- we just need to keep our priorities straight slow down and enjoy life in the process. Best wishes to you on your journey as well! And thank you, again, for engaging! ❤️
GodSpeed! With a bus, you are never homeless! Join some Skoolie groups n like I said in another comment find states with BLM land. Also look into Campground hosting or online work. Some UA-camrs do DoorDash, Instacart, etc., and others do seasonal work. I love Quartzsite Arizona. When it’s hot, you could go north into the higher elevations to get away from the heat. ❤️👨🦼🐾🚍🏕️👍🏻
DoorDash/Uber are what we are doing now- it's getting us by but definitely not at the rate we would like. We are working on starting up a couple of other simple businesses and are in the awkward transition between working constantly for DoorDash/Uber and finding the time for the new start-up. Fingers crossed for a smooth transition but it's been a little rough. Any recommendations on skoolie groups?
I am a new subscriber. I am a disabled grandmother and I travel for suicide awareness. I went from traveling in my handicap minivan to a 40 foot school bus. I am currently stuck on my property in Texas because the wheelchair lift is broke and it is $10,000 to replace it. I did a total no build build with yard sale and thrift store shopping! You can do the inside nice cheaply. if you plan on continuing to camp intense outside the bus, please invest in good quality waterproof tarps. There is nothing that sucks worse than having everything wet in your tent. Good luck with the bus and enjoy your travels with the kids! 🚍👨🦼🐾👍🏻❤🏕️
Wow- that just reinforces that anyone can and should do this if they want to - even when so many people treat us like we are crazy! I hope that you're able to find your way out of being stuck, but I'm sure you're making the most out of it. That's really good advice - we are actually staying inside the bus now that the subfloor is finished and plan to continue to do so. Tenting comes with too many disadvantages- why should we put up with them if we don't have to? Thank you for your encouragement and for subscribing! ❤
❤❤❤❤
Keep going. Great video.❤❤❤
Hi from france. I live in a trailer. I had to downsize too with my 3 kids. Lots of hugs.❤❤❤❤
@blueamenaa749 Thank you for your encouragement- it is really uplifting to know that someone can relate to us and finds value in our content. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
300K a year and needing to file bankrupt seems more like money management considering a family of 4 could live comfortable on a 1/3 of that.
There is an element of poor financial management to every bankruptcy case- but the reason behind our filing was to be together more than it was our only option. Without filing, Scott would continue to have to spend weeks away from us to meet the business overhead. Between the damage from Covid and the struggling trucking industry, it was the only practical solution if our children would grow up spending time with their father. There are hundreds- if not thousands- of other solo owner/operators in the same position of needing to file in the current economy.
Beautiful family ❤️❤️❤️
Dat thang was wore out years ago. Its one gigantic money pit. Been down that road. I could have bought 2 of my motorcoach that i have now for what i spent.
@thomaswilson8634 Hopefully not a money pit! At least it should be significantly cheaper than a mortgage/rent payment once it's finished. If it breaks down, I suppose we will boondock down by the river somewhere. 😉
Sir I believe you’re being punished by your wife.
😂 That's good insight. I never thought of it that way, but maybe I am being punished.
Good for you!! You are amazing to do this when your kids are young. Enjoy every second. Sending love and prayers for your safety❤
Thank you! ❤️
