I think I still have a 12" eeePC somewhere. I think it had a dual core atom. This video made me want to go dig it up and see what I can do with it.

Still better than my school laptops

For a long time I used the EEEPC701 with Puppy Linux 528 installed. I only stopped because getting a web browser that worked became really hard. It could play videos just fine. Unlike the one you got, it has a VGA plug on it so I could use a big monitor on it. I could take videos and music and play them when I flew. The fact that all browsers went 64 bits was the problem.

I really hated the one I had Windows Starter sucked it’s terrible slow.

I think I have one lying around and I managed to find the windows drivers

i remember trying to run portal 2 then tf2 then ddlc and after all that the damn thing's harddrive killed it's self

linux would fly for basic tasks, nvm i just saw you already installed it

I'm reminded of the toshiba laptop I got for free. Oddly, a switch to dual-channel memory fixed a lot of problems.

I have a same spec Samsung NC10. Installed Q4OS with Trinity desktop & Retroarch. I am able to play older console games NES, SNES, PCENGINE, ATARI800/2600/7800, C64,...

you should install Windows on that and se how slow it is

Put tiny core linux on that and be happy

These guys run games from the early 2000s better than today's machines.

try debian with an even more lightweight desktop like lxqt or/and q4os trinity, would be interesting to see on this little machine

Funnily enough my thinkpad x61 with very similar specs (core2 running on 1.8ghz and 1.5 gigs of ram) works slightly better on same void livecd.

I found one of these intel atom netbooks in the trash and I later found out there's where they belong... even the lightest linux distros run like crap due to these limited cpus. Probably the only operating system that I found a little bit useful is android x86. Some emulators, lightweight browsers, and open source apps work surprisingly well

I just stumbled upon this video thinking EEE was just an expression, but it's actually a EEE laptop I love this kind of video though, it only shows the process and not repeating about how weak it is (what do you expect?)

so this thing has a single core Intel and my Eee Pad (not even a PC) has a dual core Nvidia thats cool. I wonder if I can run some type of Windows or even Linux distro on mine

it might actually be worth installing a 32 bit os even though it has a 64 bit processor, its not like it would be using more than 4 gigs of ram anyway though i also understand giving up on what is probably a pretty lost cause lol

Great machjne to have some old gems installed like baldyrs gate 1 & 2, planescape torment, roller coaster tycoon...for a while one of those was all i had and and did enjoyed some gems that flew past me back then.

What is the model number of that netbook?

You're gonna have way more fun installing FreeDOS on this than any period accurate operating system imo. At least with DOS games everything will be full speed even if you won't get any sound besides PC speaker.

Used to get a ton of gaming done on my old netbooks, stick XP or Tiny 7 on it. A cheap SSD and 2gb ram can go in if you have them lying around. Can get Half Life, Vice City, RtCW, AvP on there, stuff like that.

I’d run CrunchBang Plus Plus GNU/Linux on it. I have a lot of Netbooks (some 32-Bit others 64-bit) and with CrunchBang Plus Plus everything works out of the box always.
