I Hit A Rock My Season Is Over
It was supposed to be a three day trip that turned into only 4 hours on the water. I was on beautiful Lake Temagami 5 hours north of home when I hit a rock and tore out a huge strip from my hull. I think that this years videos have come to an end.

$3 to 7 million are not cottages. They are Lake homes. I grew up with cottages, simple, small, function, in most cases self constructed. I like your channel, however you cannot truly explore a Lake by just going fast like riders on a chopper. Not unlike tourists driving on a highway, only stopping for gas and food. I get it that your channel is about riding not unlike motorcycles. BTW the richest lake is Lake Joseph.

Ive had a similar situation happen to me but the rock punctured my ride plate emptying all of my coolant and putting the machine into limp mode and unrideable. I was in the middle of no where. The water was emptying when your engine was running and the bailer tubes were siphoning the water out - luckily you had a slow leak for the system to do its job. Also amazing you had a second rider. While your seadoo is being repaired can make a video on what to do in these unfortunate emergency situations Glad youre safe and got back ok. Its only money at the end of the day.

If you are going through insurance, might be a good idea to take the video down until that's all sorted. The more the insurance company knows about the specifics of how this occurred, you might cause more of a hassle for yourself. You were operating outside of the channel marker... just my 2 cents. Best of luck

"I was looking in a different direction, didn't see it..." despite the fact that there's a red and green marker right there!!! and what if that rock had been a canoe, paddleboard, or air mattress with kids on it.. do us all a favour and stay off the water, and if you drive your YUKONBOB SUV the same way, stay off the roads as well.. my suggestion would be to take down your YT video so the rest of us much more responsible boaters don't come to realize what a d.u.m.b.a.s.s. you really are..

I feel your pain Bob! Good on you though to have posted this in such detail, I look forward to more on the repair process and eventually your return to the waterways. When I first moved my boat to Georgian Bay I soon met a veteran boater of those waters who said something to me that has stuck: "there are two types of boaters, those that *have* hit bottom, and those that *will* hit bottom". If you boat long enough I believe those words are very true. As others have pointed out the most unfortunate part of this is the green marker was there to steer you clear of that hazard, c'est la vie, we all make mistakes for sure, on the bright side, you will be WAY more dialed in about markers and upstream/downstream the next time you are in hazardous waters like those again. Once you *have* hit bottom you NEVER want to do it again. Don't ask me how I know that LOL!

They should be able to remove the bad spot and fiberglass it back strong then they need to look ip how to repair “gel coat” If it were mine I would have them fiber glass the spots then gel coat the area repaired then once the gel coat fully cures I would have them sand the entire running surface and apply a product called Super Slick 2000. Also highly recommend you start carrying a roll of gorilla tape on your rides so you can tape over any dings like that in the future. Also as others have stated there are suction hoses in the rear of the ski that works when the jet pump is on and it wicks out any water that gets in hull as you are riding to a certain amount of course. That’s why it was not as much water when you checked on water but as soon as you docked it and loaded it in trailer it was pouring out the water that leaked in then. Have them Super Slick it for sure.

@@iananderson7569 I would grind away all the delaminated materials to get back to solid laminates. Make sure the edges are tapered to allow for the new layers of fiberglass to lap over the original materials. Build it up with layers of fiberglass so you can grind and shape it without the need for fillers. when shaped apply 4 coats of black gelcoat and sand it down to a smooth surface and feather the edges that can be painted since the new hulls are coated with acrylic and need to be painted instead of polished gelcoat. You will probably have to go down to 600 grit prior to paint.

So sad. But you did answer a big question that has most seadoo users wondering, "just how effective the twin ventura tubes are at evacuating water in a leak situation", when in motion of course. That was impressive to see the flooded bilge down to the original trickle after you travelled some distance. The outer layer is not plastic according to your boat repairer said. The outer layer is a gelcoat over the fiberglass hull. Did you edit out the moment you hit the rock because of the foriegn language you suddenly spoke in. #*!!^ The upside is, you could replace it with the new 2025 Seadoo line up coming out next week.😊
