Really cool!! My rescue husky akita mix is so speedy and we are just finishing up our first pre agility class. He is not food motivated either, I had to work off leash with him for a really long time before he actually got the concept of having to eat a treat not being a bad thing and actually being kind of delicious. He's almost 3, I got him at 8 months old and the poor dude was convinced treats meant being stuck on a dumb leash and getting stressed out. I had to teach him that treats meant getting permission to fly around the woods at top speed, and he started to love treats. They do still have to be pretty high value though or he literally will turn up his nose or spit them out lol. Even if it's something he normally loves, he will act like it's the grossest thing he's ever seen if it's competing with him getting to run, explore, and smell. I'm really fortunate that I have some fenced dog parks in my area, otherwise it would have been pretty hard to make any progress. Now he actually has a great recall. I think I have to train it just to maintain the skill a lot more often than other dog owners, but other than that it is probably a more consistent recall than 90% of the dogs I see out at the park. Lol if I didn't have high standards for consistency I don't think I would have a recall at all, because it only works if he doesn't think twice about it. As soon as he stops to think, he'll talk himself out of obeying, no question lol. I love agility because I get to be part of his little flying around the woods over and under and around the trees world. I really really want him to love it. I really want him to connect that focusing and working with me means getting to fly around the course, because if I can connect those two things he will be obsessed with agility, no question.

The way he went out of his way to find a pen for you and even tested it is a testimony to his character.

Thank you for sharing! It's always interesting to record one's training on video and see it again in a new viewpoint. You then realise all those things, that your dog experiences (like noises in background..) as well as one's own mistakes

We are in central France. I only recently heard of Hoopers and my 10 mth old BC very keen to play along with me while we wait for her to be ready to train agility. Your vid very useful to get us goingwith direction and distance. 5 hoops just arrived but we will be using some of the kit improvisation too! Thanks lots from me and Mathilde. They are notorious for running off. But with lots of training it gets better....until you trust them...and then they prove you wrong again😂. This can be after one day, or six months😅
