One of the nicer Algarve coastal towns and we've seen quite a few. Airbnbs or local villa rentals are great options compared to the more expensive cramped hotels. Though do yourselves a favour and avoid this town or any other along the Algarve during peak summer season. Crazy busy and definitely not a relaxing experience. Off or shoulder season of early spring or fall, are much better times to visit. And be sure to take in a good part of the famous Seven Hanging Valleys trail along the coast from Carvoeiro. Absolutely spectacular!!!

My wife and I were here a month ago. While it is a great access spot for seeing the sea caves and other nearby attractions, we found the town itself to be a complete tourist trap. We'd never go back there. The beach was also very dirty, over-crowded, and the food for the most part was disappointing.

I'd love to go to Portugal!
