You should go for mid model way to big for your wrist
Your discussion here is interesting, but you don't get into technicalities at all. The Santos is a great watch, but the Cartier calibre 1847 is essentially an ETA 2892. Nothing wrong with that, but in terms of chronometeic precision, durability, and longevity, it is inferior to a Rolex movement. In all other areas, I agree with you, the Santos is a better watch. But they were able to offer you a better watch at a similar price to a Datejust (or lower) by focusing only on the design of the case, bracelet, and dial, and not investing very much into the movement.
Love the review! May i ask, is the blue dial really that blue? Alot of videos i've seen it looks more black than blue.
@@jaredrosenberg4965 thank you! I greatly appreciate the compliment. So the blue is a lot more apparent in the daylight but in indoor settings or dimly lit areas it can almost look black but that just adds to the contrast to the indices and case
Santos anyday...I am going to go for it and it looks classy and very eye catching!!

Funny this, I sold my santos as I couldn't get a good fit on the bracelet and got a 126200 as a replacement. I wish I had the santos again, took my breathe away when I first tried it on.
@@monsieurdale9310 it is a stunning watch
Sold all my Rolex watches and moved to Seiko - never looked back. Made in Japan carries weight.
MY TAKE: I just bought a 41k full gold bluessy and the Reverse panda.I like the Reverse panda better.41k vs 6k go firgure. Its a bad ass watch for sure. GO TUDOR!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@greenrush4313 amen brother! Solid gold bluesy is a major flex nowadays. Way more than a Daytona imo but there’s something about having a great quality watch like a tudor chrono that takes the mental anguish out of wearing it. You can wear it everyday, goes better with most clothes and occasions, bang it up and it’ll take a beating, swap out a strap and it’ll look great. Couldn’t agree more with you brother!!
How to return my watch. My wife gave me this watch as a gift. She pay full but i found out my copy is fake..

@@thomasrusso1411 that’s why there’s a process called “polishing” that exists to help buff out scratches. Pretty revolutionary stuff, I know
Great Review and I’m leaning towards the Santos de Cartier with Green dial. Had the bluesy Sub, sold that and got an older Sea Dweller
@@Yorkshiremadmick thank you! The new green dial looks amazing. I’m sure it’ll look great k. S brown alligator leather strap too to make it dressier/casual wear. It’ll be a great addition
@@monarchtimepiececollection Green alligator strap, with green dial. 👍🏻
Love, love, love my Santos. Thank you for telling me that you share it with your wife. I first bought the blue medium, then just last week, I fell in love with the new brown/gold, so I bought it in medium. All the while wondering if I should get the large. Have had my eye on the green dial, so I’m toying with getting my third Santos, might just pull the trigger on the green LARGE! I also bought a Rolex DateJust a couple of years ago and think it’s beautiful but I am mesmerized by the Santos, and Cartier in general. Recently bought the 35mm Pasha, also outstanding. Wonderful wide high shine bezel! May just keep the Rolex, just to have one. Although I’m a female watch enthusiast for the last approx 10 years or so, only realized within the last couple of months what I’ve been missing out by not considering Cartier. By the way, began collecting with Invicta, so I’m not scared of a larger timepiece. Invicta gives you the option of wearing it on your wrist or hanging it on the wall! lol. Glad I’ve come a long way from Invicta but that’s how I got started and still have many Invicta’s in my collection. Not a bad watch and lots of bang for the buck! Thanks for a great video, and God bless!
@@joannesalvia2495 thank you! And yea females are rocking larger watches nowadays. The santos takes up my wife’s entire wrist but she loves it and it looks great on her. At the end of the day it’s all about what you like. I may even get a small tank because I love that aesthetic of having a small dress watch for classier occasions. Thank you for commenting and enjoy the watch collecting journey!
Not a fold-over clasp. It’s a butterfly clasp.
I have the Panda version, I love it,I like the size & I like the rivets too, people are way picky. That's why there's so many variations, my critique; in evening it can be hard to read in Panda version. It has a rich feel when you give it a wind.
Seeing someone placing watches on crown means no education and respect for the watch :)
I certainly like your review. Would you be able to find time to review the Aqua Terra on previous metal?

Cartier power reserve lets it down badly but cartier seems immune to things like that, a quartz in the range is a death sentence to many brands but not Cartier. If Still like to see Cartier movement go to 60-70 hours power reserve though .
Cartier is sex on the wrist. Rolex is just a clitoris....evert c#nts got one

Nice dial, awful bracelet, if I were to get one, I would immediately remove bracelet, & put it on a nice strap
@@marcusherts9345 honestly I thought it wasn’t too great at first but after having it on for a while I really started enjoying it
Love my Santos. I have the white dial. Wanted a classic look. It brings a smile to me every time its on. Great watch that can fit into a number of situations, work, going out, outdoors. But my god it is a scratch magnet 😅
@@gordonjeffrey231076 couldn’t agree more! (Even about the part of it being a scratch magnet)
To me the Santos is a little too delicate. Just for me personally though. I'm a big guy so it doesn't suit me.
I don’t buy a watch to impress anybody else, but to bring me joy, I’m too old to care if others like it or are impressed. Personally I have often had great conversations with other Rolex owners just due to the shared passion of Rolex. Sitting on a flight, 2 x 3 seat configuration, 5 out of us 6 turned out to wear a Rolex, which 4 of us noticed already before take off, bringing us a knowing smile between complete strangers. That’s what I like, people who appreciate a Rolex and have it because they like it, not because they think, do others think it’s cool or is it common.
I hare santos, the only square watch that looks good is a JAEGER-LECOULTRE REVERSO CLASSIC DUOFACE SMALL SECONDS
Decent, would’ve been better with a jubilee bracelet in my opinion and 41mm is a better option too, depending on your wrist/height. But not a bad datejust
@@CharmingReality I agree. The datejust belongs on a jubilee 100%
Good video, and a beautiful watch. I just don't understand why so many of you are willing to play these games with the authorized dealers: forming phony friendships, buying jewelry you don't need and don't want, visiting the dealership weekly to prove your worth, submitting to background checks and questioning ... all in the hopes that you will be chosen to spend tens of thousands of dollars.
@@jamesmoninger1982 thank you! And I agree. Most of us work really hard for our earnings and we shouldn’t be pushed to buy stuff we don’t want in our collection or jewel that we don’t need. In my opinion, when the difference in price is not crazy I think it is more than reasonable to get a watch on the great market.
It should have a fluted bezel. Magnifying glass and omega inprinted around the second markers then it would be better then the date just
If you regrets buying please sell it at the retail price and you will make a lot of follewer happy..
@@micaljimenez7381 that’s what I plan on doing Not looking to profit off of it
@@monarchtimepiececollection congratulation, because we are so tired to see rolex so expensive in grey market, best regards
I own both i have the 2 tone Santos large and a DJ41 with Azzuro bkue dial. The price points not being equal aside. They are equally beautiful and Amazing watches. The Datejust you compare to the Santos is the least attractive and desirable in the ROLEX collection.
I never liked the existing GMT's ugly colored bezels, like the red, blue, green and root-beer colors. These unattractive colors made the beautiful GMT look like a kiddie toy. Happy that Rolex released their new Grey/Black colored bezel which is called the Bruce Wayne model. I just bought it. Of course this is a very personal taste and your taste may not be as good as mine. If you have good taste, like mine, then look for Rolex GMT II model 126710GRNR.
No your not a idiot, great choice, probably the only watch you need,❤️👍🏴
@@charleslyall4911 thank you! I’m really loving it

Love the santos !
i get it... but bro also got the most boring datejust , so nobrainer the Cartier is better. i have the dj36 jubilee silver dial and ill never sell tbis watch..i consider buying a midsize blue santos as daily , cause im concerned the rolex gets attention of some robbers on the street
@@mike15. I think the only DJ that has a solid contention to being a good configuration is a blue dial or a black dial. White, silver, grey, or grey just don’t look great on it. But even then I think the Santos is overall a better choice. If you gotta worry about a DJ being recognized and think what you have to do to avoid getting it stolen then that for me is enough of a reason to ruin the joy of wearing it. A santos is gonna get recognized as well. Thieves know watches better than most of us and need to be able to recognize pieces from all brands.
Santos for sure but I think the better size is the medium
I agree. The medium size has better proportions. At the time they didn’t have the blue dial in the medium but now that they do I kinda wish I could have it in the medium size
OMEGA seamaster300 pro chronograph is better than a speedmaster to me. 2tone with blk and sedna gold with dark coffe leather band hybrid rubber band and gold sedna clasp.
Oooofff that sounds like a killer setup. But I see you seamaster 300 chrono and raise you my new dark side of the moon Apollo 8 that I’m gonna do a video on soon!
The Cartier Santos is an iconic beauty but I would not buy one. Why? Because the Santos is very scratch prone, especially on the high polished bezel. Cartier knows about this flaw and refuses to fix it, meanwhile, UA-camrs keep making excuses for the flawed and subpar metal casing. Silver colored watches, such as stainless steel and titanium, are the defacto metal of choice. Why, in 2024, aren't manufacturers making "scratch-proof" watches? There are PVD coatings and nomenclatures like 316L steel, super titanium, TinSkin 3.0, and platinum encasements. A company as profitable and well funded as Cartier has no excuse for making watches that are scratch prone. Invest a little R&D and fix this problem. It's not just a Cartier problem, but most luxury watchmakers don't put in the effort to ensure their watches are "scratch-proof" or as scratch resistant as possible. It's a shame. For this reason alone I would never buy a Cartier Santos. Profits above all. So what are the most scratch resistant metals? Tegiment steel and UltraHex titanium.
Although that is true, and several company’s are making scratch resistant watches with newer materials, but Cartier does have a PVD santos now which imo is stunning. Along with there are newer santos models that have ceramic or pvd bezels to combat this pronation to scratches. Although I agree that the stainless steel isn’t as scratch proof as other materials, I believe brands still use it for its durability and versatility. I’m sure it’s cost effective and yields a greater return but overall I think it’s safe to say that most collectors prefer to have a SS watch in their collection opposed to other materials other than precious metals
@@monarchtimepiececollection Stainless steel is an umbrella term. There are stainless steels that prone to scratches and stainless steels that are not prone to scratches, as well as coatings too, which we've both mentioned. Having the bezel on a Cartier Santos scratched by something as innocuous as the cuff of your shirt is unforgivable.
@@davidhunternyc1 you’re right. It is prone to being scratched by a fabric stitched shirt, but that shouldn’t stop you from getting it. Nothing a quick polish can’t remove. But if that factor robs you from enjoying the Watch to his full potential, I completely agree and understand. There are certain aspects to other watches that do not make them feasible for my collection or taste. It’s always to consider every factor when adding a watch to the collection and what they’re made of is something most don’t consider as much as they should
I love my Rolex Datejust 40, but not enough to hold on to it. I gave it to my younger sister. I’m getting the Cartier Santos (medium) but in the white dial.
Very nice. I’m sure you won’t regret it. The santos is another level of uniqueness, class, and quality that most Rolex models won’t give you. Enjoy it! IMO the medium size is the perfect size/dimensions for the santos
amazing comparison, i was trying to decide which watch to kickoff my collection and this video helped TONS! earned a sub
Thanks bud! Glad to have you and welcome!
Pepsi is iconic but in my opinion that’s is its only draw over the Batgirl. Pure aesthetics Batgirl is perfection. Also, it makes more sense for GMT function with Blue being for day and Black for night.
"Iconic" in this context means "based on hype." At some point, the fury over this watch model will end, and how will that portend for the thousands of you who spent about $23,000 for a $9,000 watch?
@@jamesmoninger1982 I refused to pay grey prices. While I do believe that it will retain its inflated prices I’m so glad that I waited bc I eventually got the call.
