If Lana Del Rey Ever Performs a Tiny Desk Concert...
The brilliant minds at NPR have been treating us to some absolute banger episodes of their now famous Tiny Desk Concert series ever since 2008, filming over 1,200 tapings including some of the most notable artists on the planet. We’ve been treated to many great performances by female artists on Tiny Desk within the past couple years especially, but there is still one that has yet to showcase her skills amongst the iconic bookshelves - Lana Del Rey.
A Tiny Desk set by Lana Del Rey would be incredible in many ways with not only her vocal talent on display, but also I believe her back-and-forth with the office crowd would probably be wholesome and witty enough to keep us engaged in between tracks. Now speaking of the tracks, that is what the heart of this video is really about - discussing which of her songs would resonate the most, and sound the best within this musical landscape.
My Lana Del Rey *Hypothetical* Tiny Desk Concert Setlist:
Mariners Apartment Complex
A&W
Tulsa Jesus Freak
The Grants
Let me know which songs you would include down in the comments!

Jeff Buckley: Another MTV Unplugged That Would Have Been Legendary
Переглядів 172Місяць тому
In an alternate universe, the hypothetical Jeff Buckley MTV Unplugged set would have been performed and released around the peak of the popularity that MTV Unplugged would enjoy, and would have without a doubt been thought of as a classic amongst the many episodes around that period. Buckley's natural artistry and ability to connect to an audience would have been seen by a wide audience for lik...

I'd go with The Grants A&W/Venice bitch (the full track( Video Games Yayo
@@ittay123 Love to see Yayo make someone’s list!
I respect this hyperfixation
@@phoemela2457 It’s unhealthy sometimes. 😆
I love Lana Del Rey, but I don't think she's a good live singer SNL
@@rickhunter6479 She’s had some rough moments live so it may be risky but I’d still love to see it!
What 4 tracks would you like to see Lana Del Rey perform on Tiny Desk?
Brooklyn Baby American Video Games Terrence Loves You
@ 😮💨 Brooklyn Baby would be an excellent way to start.
Million dollar man White dress Love song Terrence loves you
@@mitsu9894 Nice! Terrence Loves You is quite the popular pick to end the set.
What were some of your favorite albums of 2024?
Some of my favs i heard this year are.. Robot God - Subconcious Awakening, MARS (man and robot society) - Asteroid Lost, Castle Rat - Into The Realm, Rosalie Cunningham - To Shoot Another Day, Klangphonics - Perfect Opposure.
@@1183newman Nice! I just put on that Robot God album to check it out - might be some of the crunchiest/heaviest guitar tones I’ve heard in recent memory. Sounds sick 🎸
@@LastFewSpins Yea it is a good album, their previous album Portal Within is also excellent.
Nice to see some love for all born screaming. I loved it on my first listen, but after seeing her play the songs on tour everything really comes alive.
@@WildHeart7777 She does have a tendency to make a song click once you hear it live! Haven’t had a chance to see her support this album yet but in 2022 seeing “At the Holiday Party” live made me appreciate that one so much more.
I'd already liked St. V, and later saw a video online... my biological half brother (who I've never met) was the drummer in her band.
@@hexane8 wow! I’m sure that was a bit of a shock to learn. Not just because of that part but I hope someday you have a chance to connect with him if that’s something you’d like to do.
I Got ID ...PJ are the GOAT ❤
@@lawsondog3554 An empty shell seems so easy to crack.. *live version* Got so many questions don’t know who the f@$k to even ask! 😄
Flea is my song of the year!
@@CentralScroootinizer Yeah when the chorus kicks in… *chef’s kiss* 👌🏼
Best album of the year!
@@cjtobywelch9578 It was so good 😮💨 Flea always gets me hyped
They made one great album and then had one or two other good songs in the 90s and then nothing that reached those heights again.
@@robbiepeterh 😮💨 Nothing at all??
Yeah no. I saw them live and it was a let down/ played all the new trash and maybe one good song
This is great! Thanks!
Much appreciated 🙏
I LOVE THIS VIDEO, I LOVE PEARL JAM MY FAVORITE BAND ON THIS CRAZY PLANET!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS AWESOME VIDEO!! LONG LIVE PEARL JAM, PJ FANS ARE THE BEST!! KEEP ON ROCKIN IN THE FREE WORLD 🌎 EVERYONE! 😊💓🔥🤘✌️
Your kind words are much appreciated! I'm convinced they'll never stop rocking. 🤘
this question is too hard a have way to many but an all time favorite of mine will always be immortality or state of love and trust
Couple bangers for sure. For Immortality in particular.. the buildup to this part below in particular always gets me hyped. I cannot stop the thought Of runnin' in the dark A-comin' up a which way sign All good truants must decide Then even though it's different lyrics - have you heard the 1994 Live at Orpheum Theater version? So good.
@ no I haven’t yet but thanks I’ll definitely check it out
Brain of j
Brain of J --- such a kickass way to begin "Yield". In fact one of my favorite album openers by them but they always tend to rock out on their first track like this. "You've been taught, whipped into shape, now they got you in line. Stand behind the stripes, there will be order, so give it good mind." In the context of this song being centered around JFK and some "mindful" evidence coming up missing in transport after his assassination, I think this lyric hits the hardest as it sounds like they are giving a little wink to the fact that the practices of our government may have been a little shady within that moment of history, even if it's not portrayed that way with how the story is told. Awesome suggestion @adamilles970
its a simple as putting efffort in to the crowd and engaging you, growing up as a pearl jam fan my whole life and understandng diffrent songs at diffrent times.the range of music that can supplies your feelings of sonder is what creates a brilliant thinking band. these guys had saved me through so much and to feel the emotional connection that they bring is somethibg special. great video!!! (dont forget eddie was leader of the whos fan club growing up and had a grea tprior band experiance with bad radio as these really shaped how they play live and record)
Well said! I totally get what you mean about understanding different songs at different times. Some songs by either them (or any other band) may have a track that doesn't hit right away, but then a life experience happens and it clicks. Then it ends up being one of your favorites. Lol but that tends to happen for me with Pearl Jam more than others. - Joey
The album is amazing 😊
@@ishathompson8439 Agreed! What’s the highlight of it for you?
He seriously deserved an unplugged. Surprised he wasn't more popular back then
@@mrt445 Definitely! Perhaps with that era being at the tail end of the alternative/grunge era, a Jeff Buckley-type just wasn’t something that was hitting at the time. I was only a young pup when he died so it’s hard for me to give too much insight of his vibes at the time but I like to think I would have been into his music if I were an adult back then.
you need to relisten to renaissance if you thought it was a slog, definitely one of the most fun energetic albums from this decade. look at it through the lens of empowerment rather than her self-idolizing.
That's a fair point. I'm always rotating through several different discographies at a time, so soon I'll start going through her albums and catch that one again. What would be your favorite track off of Renaissance?
@@LastFewSpins Definitely Virgo’s Groove, I think it speaks a lot to her vocal and melodic creativity
How did you feel about their #1 album of the 2020's so far?
What's the best bargain you've ever found at the record store?
Saturday was the day but they all were perfect!!
That lineup looked great as well! Which act was your favorite? Would have loved to have seen Meg Myers there that night.
