    The lake doesn’t seem to be 100 ft deep, like she thinks. It must not have disappeared during her lifetime of going there.

      @@jackphilips9526, what point am I missing? The lake goes through a natural cycle of filling and filtering. The lady specifically said “We want to speed up the process of Mother Nature”. That’s meddling with the natural process of the lake. The modern human with all the best intentions are the single most harmful thing to our nature.

    • @terrymorris1687
      @terrymorris1687 Рік тому

      @@jackphilips9526 BECAUSE ITS ALTERING THE LAKES NATURAL COURSE OF FILLING!! Humans have destroyed natural ecosystems from tracking mud, yes mud, from one waterway to another. Mother Nature is very balanced, deliberate, and very delicate. When you start digging, moving soil and rock, you are destroying what is the natural state of the pool.

    • @jackphilips9526
      @jackphilips9526 Рік тому

      @Terry Morris Oh fucking chill out. Do you have any qualifications in geology or biology or anything in that ballpark? I doubt it. So get off your high horse and calm down. Moving the sediment around to help the lake refill is just that. A helping hand. To help it create a home once again for all the aquatic life in and surrounding the lake. It's not harming anything. Quite the opposite. You wouldn't have even heard about this project if it wasn't for Dirty Dancing and the UA-cam videos. The project has received ZERO opposition from environmentalists. I asked you what harm it is doing and you've not come up with anything other than some crap about leaving things alone. So take your half baked opinions and your false concern elwewhere.

    Very interesting video. Thanks so much for making it. I would love a followup! I just visited Mountain Lake Lodge July 4th weekend 2021. The lake was very low ... just a very small pond left but lots of small streams running through it. Was super interesting to see. For those that have commented but haven't visited, they are embracing the lake(bed) as it is now. There is a sign explaining the phenomenon of the lake levels and it's also in their literature. There is so much history on the property (aside from all the Dirty Dancing film nostalgia) and the lake coming back would be amazing. I'm already planning my next visit ... lake or no lake.

      If I owned that property. I would have the lake bed smoothed out and sealed and refilled with water and stocked with fish. I would add the small sand beach back and have everything recreated to like it was in the movie. In doing so, It would because a tourist hot spot again.
