    Well put together documentary. Will be doing a 100k in July and I haven't started training for it yet. Been away from running for the past 2 years and I know it will be a struggle for me this July. But having watched your video, I'm confident that if I put in the time, I will be able to finish it, hopefully within cutoff (28 hours). I like that phrase: "I don't stop when I'm tired. I stop when I'm done". And you proved that it can be done!

    What did your training block look like? How many miles per week? Any road marathons or what?

    • @stache940
      @stache940 2 роки тому

      Thank you for asking. I did nothing more than an hour 3 times a week. Then I did a long run on the weekend of at least 13 miles. I tried to do another run of an hour on Sundays. That worked until I went to Leadville for a training camp in June. I realized that I needed climbing so I added 2 sessions of two hours on an old type of stair stepper. 2 hours is a lot and you will sweat horrible but it helped so much. In the month of July, I ran a marathon distance every Sunday. Several were 13 in the morning and 13 at night. Hopefully that helped. It is also important to find out what happens to you when you hit a wall. That was found when I did the FKT run found on this channel.

    Hey mate. How's your recovery going? During your 10-14 days of isolation/covid recovery (or whatever period), what were your symptoms? You noted below- it took 30 days for your Heart rate to return to return to normal (4 weeks after recovery) then 4 weeks later- your running returned? So 8 weeks/60 days *after* you recovered from covid- this was the time period for heart healing to get back to exercise level? Entry level or immediate intensity? I've just had 10 days covid, tested positive twice (Day0,day 5) then Negative day10 - had nasty flu symptoms but after day 10, it went away but the heart felt weird, sometimes right chest or left chest - a tingling/ slight pain Whats your experience/advice/ Thanks So much! Aly New Zealand

    • @stache940
      @stache940 2 роки тому

      I do think you want to run slow pace for long distance and maybe only have a fast day now and then. But after 30 days, I think it will get better every week. It really messes with your mind. I know a guy and a girl that swear that it has effected their recovery in Crossfit. But honestly, they are improving non stop so I don't see how. I do believe it is worth monitoring and that's why I got a Whoop strap. I used a Garmin watch before and wrote lots of it down. I do feel that I am fully recovered now. It did not effect me at Leadville at all. I did better that I even expected. 60 days should be the mark of normalcy.

      Its a great question. It went totally back to normal. I really kicked training up throughout the summer and I even ran the Leadville 100 in August. I then returned to Crossfit in October and my endurance has remained. I do think that my resting heart rate has still not got back to original before Covid. But it is close and I am not doing the same ultra long distance running. The chest pain has gone away. I did get Covid again before thanksgiving. That is twice but this was mild congestion and went away without effecting my Heart Rate at all. I now wear a Whoop strap and feel alll numbers are good and back to normal.@@alythaer
