I really like your opinion on just buy and choose the version of the figure you like most. It’s a good opinion and basically a fact because some of these figures have so many versions it’s insane like Batman and Superman

I bought into Firefight just after their first Warpath Kickstarter where they did the main mass battle game and the fan requested option for squad based skirmish combat that became Firefight. I have followed Games Workshop since the 90s where I was playing 2nd Edition Warhammer 40K, now I am playing 10th Edition and Bolt Action, and still think Firefight is a great system. Though I feel more attachment to my 40K stuff, both in and out of game.

Im an OPR Tier 2 Patreon.....Im 48, I worked for GW back during 5th ed 40k (best edition by the way) and once I left the company I was so burned out on GW I never really looked back, but I was a big fan of Starfleet Battles and Battletech before 40k. GW's rules have gotten really bad, and a lot more restrictive in many ways, mono pose models, retcon's on lore that is decades old.....bah.....I was done with GW before now Im even less likely to go back. OPR has given the freedom back to the player much like it used to exist before corporate board members discovered they could make more money by standardizing boxes and reducing the product range. OPR and things like it are the future, no doubt in my mind.

Firefight is good, and I started back when it was also "Warpath", where they used the 28mm models but used squad bases to simplify gameplay and increase the game size, aka Apocalypse. Now with Epic Warpath aka Epic 40k coming out, hopefully shipping by November, the universe is getting even more meat on its bones. If anything, the novels are decent ofc, but I recommend getting the Sourcebook first.

Thanks for making this a well rounded review! Mantic Games have been pushing out great games for a few years now, often not quite perfect, but the rules are generally 90% amazing 10% WiP. All their games are way more accessible than the other guys. Firefight is really fun to play, and the players in my local community have really picked it up and also started a podcast: Controlled Fire. I look forward to more Mantic Games review. Have you seen Kings of War?

They've got a skirmish game called Deadzone which I one of the best games I've ever played. Epic Warpath looks great too

Hell yeah, Sergeants deserve more love. I'm about to assemble a Company Heroes squad with a Captain, using that new Horus Heresy MK3 command squad that they're dropping. The "Captain" is going to be the squad Sergeant and they're just going to be a really badass squad, with varied wargear, as opposed to a command squad. I'm going to use that smaller standard that comes with the kit as the squad standard, not the company standard. I also often take my first company Sergeants and run them as Lieutenants/Captains for my battleline company squads. Absolutely agree that, in the lore, we need more representation when it comes to rank and file badasses.

I sold all my GW models and armies for both 40k and age of sigmar due to getting sick of the constant fomo and price hikes. Bought the deadzone starter set to see if it would be a good replacement.....and it is definitely a better game to play and so much cheaper to get started with.

Firefight is still not grabbing me the same way as OPR. I do like the models and while Firefight might not be the most amazing thing ever, DEADZONE is really good. Also FWIW, The plague are humans who went wrong so, their kit is "reaver-ed" GCPS gear. The Marauders were used as filler troops by the GCPS until they rebelled, so, a lot of their gear is GSPC kit as well. You get to the actual Aliens and the variety kicks in.

Mantic miniatures have come a long way in recent years. My Veermin are a very thematic army with some really cool models, vehicles, and characters. They were around a third the price of an equivalent GW army. Some of the firefight/deadzone miniatures are excellent and the vehicles are very special. I have yet to make the switch but I am pretty sure I will. My research indicates that the rules Mantic make are much better presented, properly tested, and key for me, really fun to play. I already have a number of useable models in my squats, arbitrators, orcs, and others, so no reason not to. Alesio Cavatorre and other ex GW staff members work closely with Mantic these days so its not surprising they are producing the better games. I think the Epic scale game maybe my entry point to Mantic's games frankly.

Ur absolutely right. Snyder mangled batman in his run. He never really understood how the character should b grounded in reality more. That being said I really hope they succeed in this new initiative of theirs

This game is fantastic. As someone who has played both this and the current edition of 40k this ruleset is far superior in every way. Its cleaner, easier and more balanced, I love it. I now just essentially use my 40k models in Firefight as they're are obviously crossover factions. The older ranges of Mantic's models aren't the best but their new stuff is pretty good and they are supporting the game with new models and a new faction on the way shortly. Getting players is the issue as 40k fans are reluctant to try anything else, regardless of how much they moan about their rules and balance and prices etc. Great video, glad Firefight is getting some attention around the world. I say the Sisters of Battle are as great as the Space Marines, since they often get miracles from just pure *FAITH* to allow them to do shit like parry greater demons. As for Sisters of Silence, they’re more specialized against demons and warp entities as opposed to the more generalized Custodies.

What pists me off is that GW ignore the Sisters of Battle and Sisters of Silence, who are the female equivalent of Space Marines and Custodies respectively, the former by the sheer amount of FAITH while the latter are the strongest blanks known to man.

They mentioned dick Grayson being Batman in this universe, I wonder if they kinda sorta doing the route of the Dc new 52 animated universe where they had the half the bat family, and ofc we got the teen titans and the Superman family ofc. But I wanna know if they are really going to have Darkseid later on into the series and Mongul as well.

The models are not "mono pose" so the results depend a bit on the person assembling it. That ha advantages and disadvantages... A specific model might look a bit weirdly posed but in contrast you also don't suddenly have 5 guys or whatever who jump off the same weird looking rock.

I don't get this at all. If female Custodies would be exactly like male Custodies, and the one bit of fluff that actually has one basically says she's just like the other Custodies, then why fight so hard against this? Ok you don't agree with the assumed motivation behind the change and I do agree people that hold such views are wrong. But by being so hard against this all you're doing is presenting yourself as what they believe you to be. So I ask; why can't women be Custodies? There is only a vague implication that it can't be done by virtue of it never being stated to have been done as far as I'm aware.

about boycott, i don't really say I'm boycotting but I've not spent a pennie for while now on 40k. my collection, time and money is not appreciated by GW I buy new primaris liutenant in 8th and build it with legal loadout to just be hit on to nose in 9th it is no longer legal loadout, and as dark angel player now it feels half of stuff is either in legends or do not exist in game rules at all. It's really hard to find motivation on to the hobby as the gaming was the biggest reason for me to the hobby. I tried OPR but their newest revision doesn't scratch the itch . so yeah I've not spent even a pennie on Gamesworkshop for sometime now. especially not after 10th ed

Jumped on the mantic train myself, building my Asterian force now. Asterian lore in particular is super strange lol. Basically an elf space force who uses weak weaponry to for 'balance' of the universe, and ran by a bunch of 'neuter males' or space eunuchs

I'll say it the lore and books are secondary to the tabletop wargame. Without the lore warhammer is still a game system, without the game warhammer 40k is a shit story with some good ideas. There will be female space marines eventually because that means they can sell you space marines (the most popular army) again its not that deep.

you do not need to buy anything new to continue to play warhammer. you can get rules online and buy second hand or 3d print. Also you can play older editions.

So think about this, out of ALL the factions you can play in 40k, how many are single gender, SM/CSM, Custodians, Soritas and Silence Sisters. And how many are coed...hmm. Yea not much excuse for "needing representation"
