The reason the music is so prominent and um...awful is that this was made as Part of a show for schoolkids called Music Scene, made by Yorkshire TV. The idea was to show how incidental music could be used. In this case it was used to annoy the dogshit out of me apparently.

Strangely it was made for an ITV music tv programme to show how music could be used to enhance what was on screen. I say its strange because the music is the one thing people always say they don't like about it ! Its on the dvd of the ITV Jan Francis version of casting the runes as an extra.

I usually love MR James ghost story adaptations for TV but this one's completely ruined by what is quite possibly the worst soundtrack I have ever heard - totally inappropriate, totally ineffective and totally annoying. Who is this Philip Wilby guy, what an awful "composer" - I hope he never got to score another film or tv production after this...

There is no sound

The house in the Photo is in North Wales, in a village called Trearddur bay. This is on Holy Island and altho people will say it's on Anglesey it's not true as Anglesey is the big island next door.

Cut out the sexual fantasies and propoganda and this could first rate.

I think this would be a great story to hear as student of M.R. James at his fireside although I think my mouth would be open and someone would ask if I was trying to catch to flies

This is a wonderful story and do well told. Wonderfully creepy and absorbing.

My favourite story teller. M R James would be my Desert Island book.

An interesting story, almost conjuring the same atmosphere as The Woman In Black. Has great potential for a decent director to make a newer version made with modern technology to create a creepier atmosphere..
