A short video today reflecting the agricultural nature of this stretch - lots of small farms to cross. I stopped off in Middleton on Tees to have a sandwich lunch watched by a hungry crow. It’s only a short detour into the town.
Arriving at the High Force hotel I walked along the side of the Tees with a family whose daughters were practicing their tumbling skills. “No chance of an Olympic place” said the father ruefully.
I wondered why I was being treated like royalty on my arrival at the hotel and then realised that Duncan must have rung and asked the manager there to treat me well, which he did, including not allowing me to pay for my dinner. What a nice gesture!
The hotel is fantastic - really hospitable and understandably popular with travellers from all parts stopping for a drink or a meal.
