Making Accessories for a Regency Outfit | Dressing Mr Bridgerton - Part 3
I make a Bridgerton/Regency/Jane Austen era men's cravats and ribbon watch fob. I made a full Regency outfit for my husband to attend the Bridgeton Ball with me in May. I'm making the next pieces of the outfit, the cravats and stock for variety, using Black Snail pattern 521, and a ribbon watch fob to pull his watch out easily.
I was able to finish the entire outfit in time for the Ball, so you get to enjoy watching me make it all! Part 4 will be making the silk waistcoat.

    I'm attending a Regency Ball soon, for which I have been sewing my first long gown. How far from the floor is recommended in order not to trip on the skirt? I've seen some at ankle length, but do you think that would appear too short?

    • @AbiSueCostumes
      @AbiSueCostumes 8 годин тому

      @rehhaus5857 I would say at least an inch or two off the ground. Ankle length would work, but might look a tad short depending on which decade you're going for

      @AskAlice24 awesome! What pattern are you using, does it have clear instructions? If so, definitely start there. If not, the way I cut and construct mine is a good place to start. Doubled fabric, cut out the correct size, sew up bodice, fit it, then attach the skirt part.

    Use the sun as your light table. Sticky tape your pattern to a window facing the sun, then sticky tape the fabric in place over it, unless your confident you can hold it securely. Can I ask you a question? Does your back skirt consist of one or two panels? I watched you cutting the fabric - you cut only one panel for back skirt (on folded fabric). But if I am not mistaken that paper pattern provides two: skirt back and skirt side back. I am a little bit confused .🤔

      @marinagrimshaw2810 I cut 1 back panel piece on the fold, I added extra length to that for the train. The large pieces I cut right before the back panel piece are the front/side panel pieces, I cut two of those that I sewed on either side of the back panel, so two seams on the sides, none in the back. If that makes sense?

      @@marinagrimshaw2810 also, the front/side pieces I did cut on the fold, that could be part of the confusion, I cut straight up the middle of the fold to separate the pieces into two.
