Position Game for Heeling
Переглядів 1,7 тис.4 місяці тому
Heeling is a complex exercise. This game helps the dog understand exactly where they should be. I teach this as a fun game. The dogs love it! Because it's fun for them I use it when I warm them up. And when they need a reminder to maintain position.
stand posture for core strengthening with proper form

This is a foundational core strengthening exercise. Many dogs are tight or weak in their core. This will be a challenge for them initially. Make sure to use PROPER FORM!!! And be patient. Over time this will get easier.
Core strengthening down posture with good form
Переглядів 587 місяців тому
This is one of the foundational exercises for core strengthening. Form is of utmost importance. You will see that this is challenging for Miller. That's fine. It will get easier as he gets stronger!! This is Miller. He's never done this before and he's not one of my dogs. He was actually abandoned at the kennel. No worries, we found him a great home. He's a service dog now!

Could that CD be any harder? Good job Zayna Bear
Great job! So many about turns! 😮
Petra lovely work but inside out. Are you using a selfie camera? All your positions are on the RHS and your 'left' turns are actually right turns.
@@OldDogNewTricksAustralia yes it’s the camera.
Hi Petra, Is there a reason that you are heeling your dog on the right hand side?
@@OldDogNewTricksAustralia it’s just the camera, it reversed it. My dogs only heel on the left side
How do you communicate that the dog is wrong if they move on the right leg?
What a great trick and thank you for addressing the small dogs.
Love your videos ❤ was juat qondering how long you do these excercise and how often?
Nice!!! 👌
Thanks for the tip
Do you have a video on teaching the down? Mine is also inching forward when she downs.
I like the feeding behind to drive the dog back
Thank you for sharing this! I need to work on this with my Border Collie :)
My husky doesn't get the message and keeps on jumping around 😅
Отличное использование положительного подкрепления! Спасибо за видео!
Great idea
Why are you using your right side/leg to set her up? AKC and most other competition obedience work is done on the left side?
I don’t. It’s the camera, it records it backwards when you flip it. Everything is done on my left.
@@petrasdogresourcecenter2305 oh good grief. I kept trying to figure out what was happening. I could see people new to the sport starting to train on their right
Ha ha!
I love you videos!! My dog will look at me but looks away as I walk. I can usually take a fee steps before she looks forward or to the left. I have to say "look" to get her attention back.
Do you do structura walk
Can you clarify? I'm not sure what you are asking. Do you mean leash walks outside of competition?
Great video!
"promosm" 🙈
*promo sm*
Do not reward him pulling back
Cooperative care in a slip lead? Yeah okay
In a facility with other dogs, a slip lead is necessary for safety
You know nothing 😂 This is an excellent example of cooperative care
Yes, it’s still luring in the sense that I put something in there that the dog wants. No, it is not “traditional luring” used frequently in training in the sense I am hand to the dogs nose tempting them to go inside. The degree of separation from the human-food-dog-crate makes it seem like it’s the dogs own idea to go inside and helps the dog out if there are negative associations with the crate with a human present. Therefore, I didn’t define this as “luring”.
I don’t think she understands what luring means.
That's literally luring
“Stop luring your dog” *proceeds to lure dog
My thoughts exactly
dobermans are so smart. this is brilliant
Your videos are very nice but unfortunately, Most people don't find your videos because the videos are not properly optimized. so if you want to get more views, likes, and subscribers then fix your problem.
He did pretty good at fetch! I have definitely seen worse from sighted dogs 😂 he looks so happy
Aw!
This is cool!
Really good video. Clearly identifiable behavior. If only humans got the message this easily 😂
awwwwww!! thank you for all the info
awww the respect between them 🥰 they’re so sweet
Love it, so many owners are completely ignorant of all these signs, cheers!
I LOVE the “freezes” “Are you good? Cos I’m good so if we’re both good LET’S GOOO!” 😊❤
“IM GOOD ARE YOU GOOD” “HECK YEA CMON”
😂 Been in the breed 27yrs, this is classic!! 😁
I watch your runs for inspiration with my Novice A dog. We just earned our CD and did pretty well - three 1st places, but we sure don’t look as nice as this. We’ll keep working on it. Great job! Y’all are fun to watch.
Another beautiful performance! Thank you for posting these.
What a beautiful performance!
THIS needs to be a public service announcement! Good job.
Wonderful performance! Love the judge, she is so nice!
Beautiful performance!
I'm assuming this is to begin training on not needing a muzzle.
Seems to be the other way around, like how to train them to feel comfortable in one and not freak out when you try to put it on them
This is to help condition a dog to feel comfortable while wearing a muzzle. Some dogs might never "not need" a muzzle so we want them to associate their muzzle with good things!
@@petrasdogresourcecenter2305 I got what the short was stating and I get the point of them freaking out about the muzzle but shouldn't you put a dog in some training to where they don't need a muzzle? That's what I meant. Like getting an aggressive dog used to it so they can safely go through training to where it's not needed
I guess my point is if a dog needs a muzzle, put them in training cause I've seen super aggressive dogs become giant babies after proper training.
That would be the goal for many dogs like those showing fear-based aggression or another similar problem. Some dogs may have to be muzzled because they eat things they shouldn't or chase what they consider "prey" which sometimes can't be trained out. It's also just a fun opportunity to teach your dog something new!
Great little drill! Brilliantly simple!! Thanks
Can you tell me why you put your left foot foward when you are starting an exercise and then moving your right foot up?
