I Need a Human Skull, So I Made One
I am starting a series of paintings where I'll need references of a human skull. This is the process of sculpting the model that I'm going to 3D print.
It's wild that we live in a time where we can make pretty much anything digitally and have it be printed out. That feeling is even crazier when it comes to 3D printing.
Enjoy the process.

Can I 3D Print This? Sculpting a Character on iPad
Переглядів 2248 місяців тому
Bringing this amazing character by @ChrisHongArt to life was so fun. It still amazes me that we live in a time where this is possible using an iPad pro and Nomad Sculpt. I'm probably going to do this with other artists that i'm a fan of and make it a series on the channel. Enjoy, -Andy Sz..
Digital Sculpting Portrait Process

Sculpting the head is one of the most satisfying things you can do. I had fun sculpting this stylized portrait in Nomad Sculpt. 3D sculpting has quickly become one of my favorite ways to explore character design. I hope my "step by step" commentary was helpful. 😅 Ask any questions you have in the comments, and don't forget to DayDream a little. -Andy Sz.. 🖤✌️ Sculpting Software: Nomad Sculpt
Sculpting Cubone Nearly Broke Me

Sculpting this Cubone inspired by the most depressing Pokémon theory was a trip... Thank you for your patience while I explore a bunch of different formats to find the one that feels like me and keeps the boring parts of art interesting. I hope you enjoy my ADHD commentary😅 -Andy Sz.. 🖤✌️ Sculpting Software: Nomad Sculpt

Art connects people. When I didn't know how to speak English, drawing Pokemon was one of the ways I connected with other kids. It was so fun taking such an important memory and bringing it to life. Hope you enjoy the story. -Andy Sz.. Sculpting Software: Nomad Sculpt
How to Sculpt Complex Characters

Digital sculpting is easier than you think. The thing that holds people back is not knowing how to start. I broke the process down in to five easy steps. I hope this inspires you to try some projects that you might think are above your skill level. -Andy Sz.. 🖤✌️ Sculpting Software: Nomad Sculpt Concept art by: patrick.ganas?igshid=OGQ5ZDc2ODk2ZA
Can an Illustrator 3D Sculpt?

I paint, I draw, but can I 3D sculpt? I am so happy to finally be able to try digital sculpting and share my experience coming from a 2D background. If you have experience digital sculpting give me all the tips in the comments. So stoked to start exploring this new medium✨ Join the journey 🖤✌️ -Andy Sz.. Sculpting Software: Nomad Sculpt
Love the work flow and I noticed you are blocking out each subsection on the lowest voxel count. Gunna try this
yep, it makes it so much easier to move stuff around and gives you more control earlier on. 💪✨
Hi, I love your videos. I'm a 3D student and I'm trying to improve my skills. I only work with hard surface objects. Can I ask for some advice on how to create muscular volumes? I always make weird cheeks, lol. Q.Q I'd like to see a video on how to create various stylized hairs in the future! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. <3
'PromoSM' 😣
One of the best process videos/tutorials I’ve ever seen seriously, please do more like this!! Especially in nomad!
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Currently I’m working on Paintings, but will definitely do more Nomad content in the future💪✨
Maybe it's just me but any time I see a real human skull on tv documentaries or things like that i cannot ignore the nagging thought in the back of my mind that asks "who was this?"
Lol, I can't say I've ever wondered that any other time than when watching "Bones"
Really cool! You should definitely make some art from your idea of the larger skull eating the other! Keep up the hard work! :)
Thanks so much @rubengecko 💪✨ I for sure will make a painting out of that idea.
Awesome work! Love the chill style of the video :)
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Still trying to figure out the vibe for my videos✨
The joy and pride on his face at the end❤️ i believe that feeling is what all artists strive for, thank you for sharing this amazing progress Andy❤️
Thank you so much Illusonary, it was so fun to make. I'm glad you enjoyed it.💪✨
Cool beans!!!
TYSM!!!✨
@@AndySZofficial np!!
What device did you use?
I used an iPad pro and apple pencil✨
BRUH HOW IN THE WORLD YOU MASTER SCULPTING FOR A DAY YO I CANT I AM STILL TRYING TO SCULPT HAIR FOR 5 WEEKS MAN
lol, I’ve been making art my whole life. Some of the skills transfer over from 2D to 3D. I’m still learning though. 💪✨
Absolute genius. You just gave me a new way to look at the anatomy. On top of how to sculpt a character. 😊
Too kind. I'm glad this helped.
It’s the crappy UI in every. single. sculpting app.
It’s fine🤷♂️
Really good video, if i may give a bit of feedback for the initial part of the video and the sections where its you in front of the camera. First off, the music is a bit too loud, it feels very overwhelming to have your voice, the echo from the room and the music all at once. Second, a slight zoom in on the shots really helps to make it more easily watchable. you just have a zoom in and then you reset after a cut. Also it would be beneficial if you move the camera a bit more way from your face, that way the viewer can see your hands and that makes more easy to relate and understand the body language you are using hope that helps ^^
Thank you for the feedback.
just need to stick some texture and that would be even better
🎉🎉🎉🎉
looks really nice! abit more contrast in the colors, but sick sculpting, i especially like the part where you break the character down in forms, the study phase as you called it, thats a really good tip.. thnx for the breakdown of your process ^^
Thank you for the advice about the color. I'm glad you enjoyed the video ✨
Wow! Amazing work! The beginning you blocked out the shapes in color then when you were in the program they were in 3d from your drawing, what is the called? Does blender offer that? Seems amazing for getting shapes
I’m glad you liked it. When I did the blockout on the drawing I broke the character down in to those smaller pieces so I would know what the 3D parts would look like. Since they are all separate 3D shapes the software colored them in different colors. You should be able to do that in Blender. Most 3D softwares have that option 💪✨
loooove your channnel arghhhh keep up the good content!!!
Thank you so much, I’m glad you’re enjoying it💪✨
7:14 That's the final result? You left out so many details plus the left forearm is too thin compare to the concept. You rotated the left hand. The bracelet's position is off, also the belt, the belly part has just the six pack outlined and the rest looks like a balloon. You should spend more days into this and pay attention to the details and volumes.
Nipple rings huh? You know you're talented when you can make nipple rings cool.
lol
This isn't a how to video, this is a "It takes a lot of work uhhhhh let me not show you my process at all and only small irrelevant snippets so I can plug a product at you and promote myself" video. Horrible for actually learning.
Watching the beginning of the tutorial I was just thinking where are the thieves from OpenAI gutting our models and sculpts (god forbid that ever happens) and you put up this poster of Arnold the Predator vs. the Deal hand to hand combat and banter with AI hands and laugh. Great tutorial. It was a lot of fun for me to watch. and there is meaning in your words. But I don't spare time and effort to do the "annoying" and boring things that raise nothing at work. I even love them. All this basic shape geometry is a very fun level to work on. For Bao's geometry inspiration: the first Playstation and PC games, especially Resident Evil and Sin 😁😉😛
Can you recommend a course to learn Nomad sculpt?
I don't know of any courses, but @SmallRobotStudio has a bunch of really good videos on Nomad sculpt. They helped me a lot when I first got in to it.✨
Thank you for sharing your style.
I’m glad you enjoyed it. ✨
Im so lucky to have seen your video in my recommendations. Im certainly gonna keep this message to heart and strive forward >:D
No wonder no one likes my cakes
this guys art is phenomenal. he has a beautiful painting style. you should link his socials in the description btw
In the block out did you have pre-built shapes?
I lost my footage of my blockout, so to illustrate me adding them in I used shape keys to make them appear.😅
Gained a new sub! Love this, cuz I just started using nomad. Would be awesome if u did a tutorial on how u did some of the components because I have no idea how to sculpt hair
I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'll do a more in depth explanation for my next video. You got this. Keep at it. 💪✨
I gave this video a LiKE cus you shop at costco --- MY MAN
lol 💪✨
Cononut Water sort of basic - but still good breakdown info - missing the Polygroudn for each part of the body because Art director may need changes, and you have to be ready ---- Again cooconut water? BASIC AF
Lol, basic but gets the electrolytes✨ Ya, those polygroups come in clutch. 💪
seeing videos like this both inspire me and make me feel inferior when it comes to making 3d sculpts/models... (I use blender)
It took me a long time to get here, don't give up. You got this 💪✨
@@AndySZofficial oh I was kidding for the most part lmao, so me giving up aint ever happening. im pretty decent at making models, but to the final level of where i want to be in terms of modeling, im gonna have to use the sculpt method then retopo which I aint the best at 💀
@@bifrostyeti it’s definitely a tedious process🙈
Thank you! but the music was a little loud it was hard to understand.
I know🙈 thanks for the feedback. Worked on fixing that in future videos💪✨
Hello Andy! I was wondering, is the blockout stage at 2:25 in blender or it is a different software ? Thank you very much!
Hey, I use Nomad Sculpt for the whole process. It’s a mobile app I use on my iPad✨
Thank you very much@@AndySZofficial !
beautiful sculpt. thanks for sharing the work flow and process. you make it look easy.
You are too kind, I'm glad you enjoyed it.✨
i saw pecs in the thumbnail so i clicked
lol
Nice sculpt. Learning characters is definitely a labour of love :D So worth it though!
💯it's so satisfying when you see the finished sculpt. Glad you enjoyed it.
I'm not actually familiar with this sculpting software. What is it?@@AndySZofficial
@@3dmutiny it’s a mobile app called Nomad Sculpt I use on my iPad✨
Which application are you using?
Nomad Sculpt on the iPad
With your blocking out, do you actually shape it in as low poly as possible as shown in your initial objects?
I keep it as low poly as I can for as long as I can. You can see more of my process in my latest video or the Cubone one✨
damn ,can draw nice and sculpt ,cool hope can learn like you doing
You can do it!!!💪✨
One thing i struggle with is when to go higher resolution and also when to remesh or start building subdiv levels. I also use nomad and blender. For example, in the refinement stage. What were you using?
It is tricky knowing when to go higher resolution. It took me a while to get the hang of it too. I am using Nomad for the whole process in this video. I'll talk about resolution, and how I approach it in my next video. The beauty of sub div levels is that you can go back and fourth in resolution if you don't bake them in, but a good rule to follow is, "do as much as you can in the lower resolution and add sub div when you need details that won't show up at current level." This was a good question, hope my answer helps.💪✨
nice work bro!
Thank you💪✨
DADAN BROTHERS INC.
Man, I know what I gonna say is out of context, but u look like Aphex Twin ( Richard D. James). Good video.
I don't know who that is😅 Glad you enjoyed it💪✨
I wanted see u block out lol
lol, just posted a video that has more of that process. Working on a detailed video showing process of a full character💪✨
I mean, that's the workflow allright. But people, if you just begun sculpting, expect your first few dozen characters to be nowhere even near this. You have to have solid anatomical knowledge, know your software, generally experienced in sculpting all kinds of shapes, and just develop the raw knowledge base needed for it. There are no shortcuts in the end. But this video certainly clears up some workflow related questions, and thanks for that :)
Point two about this is having a powerful enough machine to even reach this amount of detail. Of course you can make due with less dense meshes, but the more detail you can control, the better.
you used a Yami reference therefore I will sub lmao
lol, he said it best 💪✨
Thank you 🙏🏾
Glad you enjoyed it✨
What!? I was expecting to see you going from blob to character, but the blob part was like nothing happened and suddenly there was a character there! 😕
More drawing if you can
