Solar is no good in winter . Cloudy , rain , snow and short days . 1/2 output is really lucky , most people are getting 1/10 output most of the month .Need generators to top off batteries . Get a wood stove to heat the house and solar can handle the rest .

100KW a day . I think you just need to step back a bit and plan your days around the weather . Close doors and don't heat rooms that are not needed . Do laundry on sunny days only . You don't cook all day long or shower so that's not bad . Just try cutting back some it might make a big difference .

Yep Water heater and AC are the big power consumers. The well and stove are minimal usually. Still debating the hybrid water heater. I have the current water heater is on a timer and extra insulation on it. I only averaged 8-15 kw a day this time of year in central Florida. My house is a small 2-2 but I did extra insulation throughout.

i have an EG4 18Kpv with two 1/0 cables going to a 400 amp bus bar. from there i have 1/0 cables going to two 30 Kwh battery banks. we are 100 % Off-Grid and lack nothing. we have not come close to using the 12,000 watts available to us. we use propane for the big loads, like stove/oven, hot water on demand, heating and cloths drying.

I agree the higher voltage systems are better just scare to loose one string of batteries is a big chunk of your capacity vs 48/52 v I have 5 banks to make 70kwh of one goes down not the end of the world. But at only 12kw pulling 200+ amps I understand the cost of copper is not fun either. Love the vids keep em up

75kw system, crappy December Wisconsin winter day 12kwh, sunny day 350kwh. I will make more than that but right now I have a few strings doubled up as I am going to be shortly changing up my system to go 3 phase. Last spring I did over 400kwh with 56kw of solar. Today was just over 200kwh on a partly cloudy day.

I Have been getting 4 to 10 kwh a day here in Michigan with 27,000 Watts of panels. Made about 40 Yesterday. Sence December I have made 400kwh as of 12-22-2024. I have about twice as many panels I would need if the sun would be out.

Nice setup. Would love to own so much land to put such a system. Urban life and trees are no joke.

99 kWh today from 32kWp. 45-66 degrees. 3 yrs off grid coming up soon. You are 100% correct. A lot of solar and battery.

I think you can put a little more space between the rows of solar panels to get a little more out of them. You seem to have some free space behind the panels.

In central Florida my electric bill is $100-$130 monthly in the summer and $60 last month. I supplement my grid usage with solar. I can’t afford or have enough yard to go all solar. $2 a day for electricity isn’t bad 😊 I can run all my critical equipment from solar except the 240v appliances.

gloomy this time of year 4-5 days at a time half day of sun I have 10 kw wind turbine that really makes off grid work well to catch up here in western MN lots of wind in the winter one direction for a couple days then the other

The higher the voltage the less loss with the voltage closer to the transfer voltage the better . I know running like 120 volt dc inverter I have 51 volt inverter but my panels at 320 to 400 volt de my inverter runs best at 329 volts

Mike, There is ALOT of multi KVA UPS used for sale that operate not at 48v but 192VDC. These are often APC, EATON, TRIPLITE and most of the time are from 12 to 50KVA often on 208 or 120-240V. I bought one 16kVA for 300$ without battery, but my system is on 48V and I wont change.. But I use high efficiency ELTEK DC-DC to convert from 48 to 192V also bought used and it work nice but at an acceptable 5% efficiency loss, But these integrate the BYPASS or INVERTER mode or UPS mode automaticly. They provide a nice clean AC with great surge power and great power factor too. I would be curious to see if one day you will try these cheap medium DC voltage alternative. MODEL is: SU16000RT4U if you wnat to take a look.

Hey Mike, I have ordered 100 lifepo4 280ah batteries from Jenny Wu. I purchased a 40ft shipping container with spray foam insulation. I was going to do 2 12kw EG4 inverters with a 48 volt system...... after watching your videos, I am seriously considering a 30kw system something like yours. As far as what to consider for the build of your new inverter system, my input would be some type of air filtering system to keep dust, etc out of the high voltage components. If you have ever worked on old televisions, or high voltage ham amplifiers, then you know that the dust particles seem to cling to high voltage surfaces. The filter should be re-usable.

ask them if they can make a DC converter, which is a device that sits between the inverter and the batteries converting your low voltage from the batteries to high voltage for the inverter ....making the inverter run more efficiently
