Eats HOT often takes months. Change the clear silver caps in H. OSC. first. Also happens to hybrid Sharps LFOD !

When I come across something that's been heavily worked on before, it makes me shy away from it. Who knows if some of the problems it has were caused by the previous repair attempts?

That bulb was fairly bright. What wattage is it? Could that be the reason the HV did not come up? The good news is the HOT is not red plating...

Really impressive how well the old weather beaten TV works after you had rejuvenated the CRT. You mentioned how scarce brighteners were becoming. What I used to do when I fixed old TVs way back when I was a student was to was to take an old 120V:12V filament transformer and connect one side of the 12V winding to the 120V winding to create and auto-transformer that raised input by 10%. Now splice that into the wires going to the CRT filament and connect the stepped up output of the transformer to the CRT filament. The nice thing about filament transformers is you can often easily screw them to the metal chassis somewhere and even today are fairly easy to come by. Subscribed! Keep up the videos!

Nice looking little set. As you predicted, powered on no problem.

Once in a while a filament lead would come unsoldered at the back of the pin on the CRT tube base and could be resoldered to the pin. However that is a rare failure, but, worth checking. You are probably correct though, it has signs of having air inside. There is a lot missing in this one, so you are justified in parting this one out. It would likely take a lot of searching for parts to replace what is missing. Have fun!

You got a raster,color,and sound and you can see the picture now so call it a win. Does have many more issues to sort out. The RCA console would be a good repair candidate . Vintage goodness with great color and brightness.

Leaving the set on for longer than necessary with all of the old components prone to failure was likely why the raster on the screen deteriorated. I'll bet the engineers of this set didn't have the expectation of someone using it 60+ years later. This is pretty amazing for home electronics that survived the Cuban Missile Crisis!

We lost our local TV shop Mercers TV back in 2020. They somehow managed to hang on until covid and the owner decided to retire. The place had a really sweet RCA Color neon sign on the outside. A collector bought the signage because it was about to be scrap. Great video!

Welcome to color roundy maintenance work. Vacuum tube color sets require regular maintenance. You will appreciate degaussing, adjusting purity, doing convergence and IF and chroma alignment.

No offense, but the reason your channel is not growing is because you only do analysis vids; you need some repair vids too

I think you need to also do something. That output is very pinkish. This tells me there is an issue with the green in the color demodulation circuit.

It seems to me that you have two problems here. Firstly, assuming the signal input is ok, and if its the same signal that went into the first tv then it must be, It looks likely that the horizontal hold has drifted and its trying to lock onto around double the frequency it should. Thats why you csn see two of everything all overlapping. Now this could be either an adjustment or a fault. Try going for the line hold or horizontal oscillator preset. Next, it also looks as if we have a weak signal, that could be the tuner or the i.f. amplifier. I would go after the weak signal first, because if you lose the synchronisation due to a poor signal it could contribute to the horizontal problem. The momentary appearance of a dechypherable picture suggests there is very very weak line lock. Im 65 years of age and used to repair this generstion of set back in my youth. Hope this helps.

Someone made a lot of those color sets for many different companies. I think Sears and Montgomery Ward had their versions as well. You sound young, and I commend you on your knowledge of old tv sets. Ive seen them all over the years.

You are aware that old crts after sitting for decades need to be “woken up” correct? Shango will fill you in. Save the power transformers and stuff to sell on eBay worse case. The tubes were probably yanked when the sets died to be used in other tvs and radios back in the day.

I wonder if that actually still produced B+?

The problem that horizontal hold is off .I don't know if you turned horizontal hold all the way . If you did there is a horizontal oscillator coil . And because its not much off you should be adjust the coil to get a picture .You will need diddle stick , Alignment tool for that.
