Mike Technoist requested a tutorial on my kick & bass / bottom end process. Here it is on a dark tekkerz techno tune I made, link below for the release. Lots of drum buss / bass buss / mixdown stuff etc in this one. Released track: rudiment.bandcamp.com/track/vitals More of this kind of thing on Patreon: www.patreon.com/benpest

Little video explaining my process for finishing tracks, as I've just wrapped up an EP. Workflow yes but also massively a headstate thing. It's a bit ranty. www.patreon.com/benpest benpest linktr.ee/benpest benpest.bandcamp.com www.benpestmastering.com

Bitwig 5.2 Beta - Bass Sound Design From Scratch (no talking)
Переглядів 7773 місяці тому
Made this in under an hour from scratch using only native Bitwig plugins. A bass design focused-session. Polygrid and drum synths as sound sources and utilising many of the new fx processors in 5.2: Compressor , Focus, Sculpt, Over and Tilt. Watch as I fumble around plugins I've never used before and abandon whole ideas in realtime! LOADS of other KEWL stuff like this if you subscribe to my Pat...

Longform video (no edits), I made nearly 2 mins of a tune from 3 fairly minimal liveset stems as a starting point & only native Bitwig plugins (no 3rd party stuff). Obviously it's not perfect but defo on its way 🫠 For more stuff like this and to support what I do : www.patreon.com/benpest
Bitwig 5.1 Beta - Electro from scratch, no talking (all native plugins, no samples)
Переглядів 2,1 тис.9 місяців тому
Made this chance based electro jam completely from scratch, using many of the new features of Bitwig 5.1 including most of the new filters, waveshapers and several instances of Bite, the new oscillator in Polygrid. Had some crunchy fun. Head to my Patreon page for more stuff like this, and load of other production resources: www.patreon.com/benpest
Track from Patreon samples (Ableton-only plugins)
Переглядів 76910 місяців тому
Thought it would be fun to make some electro from all the samples & jam audio I put on my Patreon page in recent months. 50 minutes of sound design / beat making using Ableton-only native fx including, saturator, compressor, spectral time, vocoder. Def gonna build this one into a tune 👌 More stuff like this: www.patreon.com/benpest
Remix in Bitwig: Samplejunkie - All Of That (all native fx, no talking)
Переглядів 37511 місяців тому
Here is the first session on my remix for Samplejunkie. Just under an hour of sound design & loop making using stems provided, a few extra drums samples and native fx only, before I hit the arrangement proper. Lots of freq splitter to gate channels (my favourite) and the curves modulator. Also got into the fx selector to randomise various bits. It needs a mixdown too :) Mad tho I hardly used an...

The Pill
Clipper into a clipper into a clipper into a.. ❤️❤️❤️ can’t wait to hear the whole track
I like your dirty beats, man! High energy!
Extremely practical and musically effective, thanks!!
nice video, why those the kick sound like its doubling tho?
Bleed from the monitors into the mic probably
Can't believe I'm just seeing this videos, you've been such a big inspiration the past couple years! Even if your sets always remind me to mourn my dead mono lol, thanks for the videos and nonstop bangers:)
UA-cam hardware videos are so saturated with people that don't actually release music (and if they do its the worst shit you ever heard). Its refreshing to see a good artist that I knew from bandcamp on here. I hope you find some success doing these videos!
Lol I love it. Imma go get stuck in a loop then
You’re bloody adorable 😘
I love the part about the loop 👍
Very cool approach - great to hear your thought process. Thanks!
Nice!
Hi ! are you on Spotify ? Thanks.
Yayyyy!!! ❤
wow amazeballs
Great stuff :) are you sending patterns to the cyclone from both Elektrons?
It's sequenced by the Syntakt

Nice one mate. New subscriber ✌🏻
i believe "Masterclass" is trademarked.
You must be fun at parties
@@skylerkade5895 i'm definitely not the guy who's trying to seem relevant by regurgitating overused lines so..... yeah :)
@@danielstraw-du4nc i have a theory why you keep hearing that one…
@@danielstraw-du4nc wonder why you keep hearing that one in particular ;)
This is not true, only MasterClass is trademarked.
Love this
Highly recommend. Brilliant course content. Excellently executed by @benpest @jamesorvis 👍👌
yay <3
Yes!
❤🙂
Wow impressive session and set up!😮 Subscribed for more! 👍
Thank you for this happiness injection! I had to listen 5 times. This is masterful!
💥 "promo sm"
I like this a lot but im interested what makes you define it as Electro? It doesn't sound like the electro I grew up on?
Modern electro is like this - cold, hard, almost industrial sounding at times, but still funky. Electro has a long history with lots of changes along the way
@9Hmm... it seems to me like there is something else that got called Electro much more recently that doesn't seem to know about Electrofunk. Not thinking about your thing so much but there is definitely stuff called electro that isn't connected to the original stuff. Seems weird to have two genres with the same name. Almost like they don't know about the proper stuff. .. There's a school of thought that it can't be electro if it doesn't have an 808 or at least an x0x.
Sound pretty much Drexciya'esque
Lovely work on this Ben !
Awesome stuff! I'm also your 666th subscriber!
So sick! I've been flipflopping between getting a P23 or a Perkons. I'm looking for 2 things: crunchy percussive sounddesign and heaviness, and being able to do ridiculous freeparty style livesets. Videos like this are definitely pulling me towards the P23. Bye bye money
Hi! I’ve had both, I can definitely say that Perkons lends itself better to live performance due to the immediacy of the sequencers, the banks/patterns, recallable parameters It’s a very different sound though. I would say the Perkons has a much “heavier” and aggressive sound than the Pulsar, which is a more experimental and subtle in the tones it can make. Definitely try them out before you get them if you can. Hope this helps!
@@maelorachthanks! Yeah I will definitely try them both
If you have anything that can be used or modulated get the p23. The cross modulation possibilities are endless and incredibly. Agree with the above poster though re the playability of the Perkins
Really great! I've never thought about modulating the Bass module warp with the data pin. Did you record into the looper and then speed up the clock tempo?
What is this device? I like it
SOMA Labs Pulsar-23, a modular percussion/drum machine, FX & sequencer!
That bass voice sounds great. Like toms and bass all at once.
I found an alternative to sooth which is a M4L device, called Boba. Seems to be pretty decent but I haven't used soothe2 so can't really make the comparison
Cool tune!
About 34-35 mins you mention perhaps a phasing with EQ+, try EQ-5 as EQ+ I believe has uncompensated delay compensation. EDIT, just read on KVR "As of 5.1, it's now latency compensated." So, hmm!
Thanks so much for this !! Legendary 🙏
@@benpest6931 It is indeed, 5.1 release notes "EQ+ (EQ) device: Is now latency compensated" I'm going to use it again!
HI, it's a black limited edition or is customize by yourself??
Audio parasites. They make alternative face plates for different machines and eurorack
