How to install a spare tire on your boat trailer in five minutes or less

The sounds of Trout Lake (near the Little Trout Lake portage) // ASMR

This is one of a few BWCA lakes that allow gas-powered boats (as long as it's under 25hp). Having a gas-powered boat provides a nice balance of peace and quiet while allowing people to fish and explore this beautiful area. It also allows you to bring a bit more camping gear than you would with a canoe. We camped on the north west part of the lake near the portage to Little Trout Lake. Approx. L...

15 minutes of peaceful lake sounds recorded on Trout Lake in St. Louis County, Minnesota - part of the BWCA and Superior National Forest. Trout lake is an amazing place to camp, fish, and enjoy everything the great outdoors has to offer. There are tons of hungry smallmouth bass to catch and some quality walleye, if you can find them. We had the best luck catching smallmouth using Ned Rigs, whil...

Some awesome adventures and even greater catches!
That's right!
That musky died way to stress it out to the max for your photos 👍
It was out of the water for about a minute, and swam off strongly. fun comment though!
I target northern pike where I’m from because of the fight and the taste!
Northern are fun to catch too!
On top of the world! Good job man!
Thanks dude!
For how much gear oil costs, I drain it completely by removing the bottom plug first, top plug second, let it drain then screw into the bottom hole and start pumping the oil in until it starts to come out the top hole and put the top plug in. Unscrew the pump and put the bottom plug in. You'll only loose a little oil.
That's the way to do it. We were total noobs when filming this. Thanks for your comment!
Be careful where the deck meets the right side of the boat, could lose some coins or a bass down that gap
do you need to coat the wood in some kind of sealer so it does not rott
I would. We sealed our with outdoor deck paint.
😂😂😂
It is really the best way to i love it trolling it is the best way to
i liked the simplicity.of it!
Dinks
I would have liked to see things a litle clearer here and slower so I can do the same for my boat. I am not expert and was hoping I could use this video to build my casting deck. Nice work though
Thanks for the feedback Darren. We'll be more clear in the future. Feel free to rewatch and pause if it helps. thanks for watching!
Is that a Wakebait
No. It's a Storm jointed jerk bait.
It doesn't hurt to have a couple rags handy.
very true. We forgot to mention that.
Unscrew lower screw first then the upper. When filling keep the lower unit straight not tilted. Also after the oil get out of the top hole pinch off the hose and wait for for a few minutes. And then pump again. This gets most of the air out to fill in more oil. Not a important step on smaller engines but should be done on bigger ones 👍
Also change gaskets! ❤
solid advice. why unscrew the top screw first?
which gaskets? @@pracussmargo
@@TheresOneOutdoors well this depends on the brand of engine. Im not very known with parts for other brands then yamaha but i think the gaskets for johnson tend to be transparent. You want to use new gaskets because the lower unit has to be able to withstand a certain inner pressure. With a bad gasket you could have it not leak when servicing but take in water when the engine is running. But then the oil will be white'ish because of water mixing with the oil. oil and water can mix if they are in a vacuum
But why not just fill it from the top hole?
You could but you would need to have a hose inserted into the hole instead of threaded in for the pressure to escape. Both methods will work
Because that will leave air in there
@@CarsonSkinner-fn5vzif you fill with something that lets the pressure out and let the air bubbles come up then you absolutely can fill from the top. Think of filling transmisson oil on a car. Done from the top 👍we in the boat world usually fill from the bottom
I don’t have a boat, idk if I’ll ever have a boat, but something as a man compels me to watch and study this.
you never know when it'll come in handy
Nice 👍
Thanks 🙏
I also don’t see any life jackets. There a must. Pretty sure there a law in all 50 states. Check with your local laws on other equipment you must carry😮
We're covered there. We had one for each passenger and they were accessible . Thanks for the comment.
Pretty sure this is your first boat. Gear lube is never topped off. Dump gear and refill from bottom. If it’s milky you have water in lube. Screw in from bottom hole and pump it full. This keeps air out. Do this every fall if you live in the north were the motor will be in freezing conditions. 🎉 happy boating.
Thank you Matthew. Multiple people let us know we screwed that up. We've redone it. And yes, this is definitely my first boat. Good to work out the kinks before I get something nicer. Happy Boating.
'Promo sm' 🏃
Please remember - when trolling, do not stop the boat when you have a fish on.
Haha 😂 it happens!
It actually turned out to be a solid northern. But the reaction was more memorable than the fish 😂
Matt Damon fishing
That’s hilarious
Definitely a Bostonian. Lol... 😂
😂😂
Imagine that fish gets to 30+
It would be a beauty. It's on its way there.
Called a blue pike. Thought to be extinct. You caught a miracle. They where fished commercially in the great lakes.
I read they were extinct, so I'm glad I wasn't the only one amazed by this.
@@TheresOneOutdoors Well you got one! I would fish that lake tell I got another one and call wildlife services to get a DNA sample. Very important to try and resurrect that fish with proper breeding and protection. Bringing back to it being common. Get another!
@@ThomasNygard-my9jt I thought about contacting the MNR and seeing if they were interested.
That's the most unique walleye I've ever seen
I've seen walleye with a little bit of blue in their cheeks and dorsal fin, but nothing like this.
Nice
We haven't caught any walleye bigger than 22" in the few years we've been going to LOTW. But there are almost always solid numbers of fish caught.
Cool! Looks like it!
It's always a great time.
Some nice looking walleyes.
Nothing huge, but always fun to catch
Thats my jam bro ✌🏻
great job
Update Fall 2023 - We took the mirrorcraft and these oars to Northern Minnesota for a camping weekend. The oars were perfect for navigating shallow water and allowing us to push off from our campsite. We barely use the oars because the main motor and the trolling motor work so well, but I'm glad we had them for this trip.
Does it stay in place when you trailer the boat?
Yes. It hasn't moved at all. It's very solid.
@@TheresOneOutdoors I'm going to do exactly as you on my Lund SSV. i may put the hinges for the hatch opposite as I want to store my anchor and rode under the deck. If I can I will also move my 5 gal gas tank under the deck as well.
@@vernshein5430 That's awesome. Good luck. There are some supports on the left & right side of the middle seat on our boat that helps keep the deck in place. Not sure if yours has that. If not, you might need to find a way to keep it in place and adjust based on your boat and situation. Let us know how it goes!
Came here hoping to get decent information on getting the same motor running and I was slightly disappointed. Thought maybe you would talk about the carburetor or spark or something I could use. I can't find a manual anywhere. Guess I'll just wing it like you guys lol.
haha sorry about that. I'm no professional. New spark plugs, new gas, new oil and some youtube videos on carburetors should help you out. Good luck.
No matter what I try I can’t catch shot not even bites I want a walleye so bad
I'd recommend a leadcore setup for trolling walleyes with crankbaits. When trolling cranks, my leadline setup out catches my normal (braided) setup by 3-to-1.
'promo sm'
That's a good looking boat 🙌
What year is this outboard?
I'm not 100% sure. The boat is from 1979, so I'd guess the outboard is the same year. Still runs like a clock!
Beautiful area. I have been on Lake Vermillion several times but never ventured over the portage into Trout Lake.
You should! It is a beautiful lake worth checking out if you have a canoe or a small boat. You may need a permit though, even if you're not camping.
Good release! So many people just chuck them back in the water.
Gotta make sure he lives to swim another day!
yessss
the more fish you release, the more there are to catch next time.
What were the sizes of the panels that you cut for the flooring
I don't have the exact measurements as we traced the existing, rotting floors. The back piece is 37.5" across (left to right) by 35" (front to back). The front piece was 36"x36". Neither piece were exactly square. Hope that helps!
Nice fish!!
Probably the biggest bass I've caught this year.
@@TheresOneOutdoors good job!
I’ve always wanted to go fishing in Canada. Nowadays however, you couldn’t *pay* me to step foot in C(an)uck land
The fishing is unreal. As far as politics and other things go in Canada, I'll let other people comment on that.
Good catching
thank you
