Thanks for presenting these films… they are valuable and historical. Lots of Seagulls with the curved leading edges. I started in the late 70,s on a Sky Sports (USA) Merlin… I think it was the first double surfaced wing. It had lots of outriggers and drag inducing stuff. But I had some good flights. We were flying at a base altitude of 6000 feet on the highfields of Transvaal South Africa. We needed a wing loading of less than 1 lb per sq foot. Many hours of waiting for a bit of wind, with no sea breeze 400 miles from the coast. Good stuff please keep going. Maybe with more money you can have these digitaly remastered? I would love to fly again, but my knees aren’t up to it.

Some of the film looks like it was shot at Green Mountain in west Denver. If I remember correctly, the local Chandelle shop (Golden Sky Sails) conducted lessons there during the late 70's. Mark Windsheimer was one of their instructors. Upslope, run by the Foker brothers (a Pliable Moose dealer), also used the mountain for training.

I flew hang gliders for about 15 years. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, so much fun for so little expenditure, more fun than piloting light aircraft.

I flew hang gliders in the eighties they were entertaining craft to keep in the air especially the older ones….Moyes Mega and Moyes Micro come to mind….

I watched my mates dad crash his hang-glider in the 1970s when I was a kid. Off the cliff around Wonthaggi area. He was OK.

Hang gliders were still using hang loops made from an adjustable length of water ski rope into the late 1970’s. Great video on the contributions made by many to the sport.

Awesome. I recall the time when Mike Harker came to Europe for a tour with his famous blue delta glider and promoting his flight documentaries in the cinemas.

That's a beautiful, beautiful film. Things are so different today that they are no longer thrilling.

I worked for Chandelle in the late 70s. I so remember this video.

I flew one once. I owned a Cirrus.

I wasn't determined to prove anything, reporters say dumb things. I was determined to find the true story. It was amazing to me that every book, every documentary, every website, was wrong.
