Welcome to Vivsvibe! I'm Vivian Camille, or Coach Viv, helping you slow down to run fast toward joy, peace and true contentment in running and racing.
I’m a UESCA-certified ultra coach and have been running and racing for over 12 years. I love sharing what I’ve learned with y’all through a science-backed lens and keeping things REEEEAAALL honest. This is ultrarunning; the highs are high and the lows can be really low (that’s why we love it). I bring you with me for all of it!!
Enjoy!

The EASIEST Way to Clean a Gross Soft Flask... even if it has a tiny nozzle opening
Переглядів 4992 місяці тому
Train ONE-ON-ONE With Me!: www.vivsvibe.com/coaching/ There's NO NEED to spend longer than 30 seconds cleaning you're soft flasks at the end of the day. Especially after a long run, the last thing you want to do is spend time standing around with dumb tools de-stick-a-fying your bottles. This is the easiest way to clean a soft flask. I use this method regularly and have do so for years now. It'...

Great info!
Very good vid. Liked and subscribed.
Me - "I wonder how Viv knew that I was sitting on the couch scrolling UA-cam and procrastinating getting my workout started?" The Universe - "Viv always knows...." ~ LOL! Seriously, thanks Viv, a great message! For me, when I am finding myself in that headspace where I am searching for the excuse to avoid or cut short the workout, I will be mentally playing the game of imagining forward to that worst part of the upcoming session, the hills, the repeats, the distance, etc. Fortunately, I have learned (after much failure) to recognize that negative thought pattern and to use that as the catalyst to break that thinking pattern. My mind - "that section of hills coming up is really going to hurt.....", my response - "yep, and that is exactly what we are going to do....maybe twice." For me, it takes that moment of shock to break the negative thought pattern. I used to be a competitive tennis player (professional), I learned from a sport psychologist to use a momentary shock to break a negative thought pattern. When I was playing and my brain was slipping into a negative space or I felt myself losing control of my thoughts I would slap myself on the thigh or hip as the signal to "break" that thought pattern. That slap was hard! With enough practice, I engrained the response to "reset" when I felt the sting of the slap (a little classical conditioning!). Your example of "just doing the loop" is also something that works very well for me. I have a very easy 21 mile flat out and back on a bike trail that I do (I am a road cyclist). I know that I can complete this very easily in about 80 minutes with little effort. On the days where I can't muster the ability to do the planned workout, the "deal" that I have made with myself is that I just ride that out-and-back route. At a very minimum I can always do that, no matter what my state of mind and no matter what the weather is. In that way, even when I have a day where I "fail" to do the planned session, I still "win" by getting-in that basic amount of activity. Turn the potential loss into a win.
You need bigger shoes. If you have high archs most probably you need more q4ch support. The longer you run the arch lowers and your feet extend in the shoe.
Hey Viv, I wanted to ask you im training for my 6th marathon coming up march 1st myrtle beach. And i want to try to not hit the wall and have solid finish around 4 hours i feel like i always hit wall bec i start out to fast. I noticed when i start way slower paces i can work almost min down towards end of run of 18-20 milers. Do you think i need do my 20 milers at 10 to 1030 paces and get use to being out their over 3 hours at lower heart rate? I seem always run better when i train at lower heart rate with little speed. Im just tired of hitting the wall at mile 18 and 19, I heard you can avoid the wall if u mostly train zone 2 and 3. Last year i started marathon out in low 9 min paces and tried to hold on and hit wall mile 19, So maybe i need start 10 min paces and work down to lower 9s 920 for this marathon. I dont really care about a super fast time at this point i just want a solid finish and negative split and strong finishing without hitting the wall bad again. If i can run it in little over 4 hours id be happy as long as i dont hit wall. Also gels never seem to help me that much i seem do better training like a ultra marathoner and running on mostly fats and lower heart rate.
Not related but your seasoning containers - where did you get them and do they keep moisture out?
Yes they do keep moister out. They’re ball jars. You can find them anywhere online
Hi Vivian! Nice video, I was gonna ask you I ordered a aonijie vest that comes with a flask to put in front pocket of vest. It’s 500ml flask I got it for my long runs because sometimes I get tired using the bladder for long runs and just want bottle front. Do you think flask or maybe 2 flask bottles will be enough if I run in a 26 mile marathon? Or would bladder still be better. I feel like the vest with the flash in pocket would be lighter and easier use what do you think?
I prefer the two flask option and sully that’s plenty to get me through the distance (if it not too hot).
how to not get cramp while drinking water and running
The HydraPak that I have (i think the same as yours in the video) is designed to be flipped inside out for easier cleaning and air drying. I've also found some generic kits on Amazon with a brush that is perfect for cleaning the tube (it goes the full length of the tube too) and a hanger for drying various styles of bladders too. Cheers!
Very nice
Hi, if I remove the nails, is it a problem with holes into sole created by removing ??? tnx for reply...
I’ve never had to remove them for any reason but I’ve read that people often do and there are no problems
The nozzles from Decathlon bottles which are translucent are actually separable. If you pull hard you can remove the outer part from the inner part and easily get to the mold.
Bottle design makes a huge difference! I pay close attention now when I need to purchase a new one. Thanks!
Really helpful thanks. Looking at my first ultra next year so trying to build some base miles now
Now’s a great time to start building the base! What distance are you planning on?
@@VIVSVIBE 50k at the start of August. ☺️
@Eightfathorses Amazing!! I love that distance. Have so much fun with it and let me know if you’re ever have questions.
@@VIVSVIBE thanks so much. I was in chemo last year but I'm not letting it stop me reaching my ultra dreams
@Eightfathorses you’re amazing! Keep up that spirit. So excited for you!
Another great video…. Love seeing the great trails - thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much!!
and yet another comical reference to David Goggins from the trail running community. I laugh every time, but I do wonder if DG hates trail runners. I'm sure he's aware of these references, sprinkled left and right on a multitude of trail running pods. Thanks for the good tips vvv
I love DG for sure! His sound bites have a time and place though and can get out of hand if you’re not careful.
Great video! Funny and educational. I'm the queen of inconsistency... crap training, then epic challenges. Maybe next year, when I free up some fundage and am training for my first 100, I'll hit you up for coaching!
Consistency is where it’s at!! I’ll be here and would welcome you to the training party anytime 🎉
Thank you so much for this new video!! Super excited!!🎉🏃♀️😁 I live in Gilbert, AZ and just bought my Maricopa Parks pass today now that the temps are finally getting in the runner's sweet temp zones! I am going to wear out my trail running shoes by Dec!! 😅 Happy safe trail running!!🥰
The weather has been a much needed push to get out the door! Run those shoes into the ground 💪
This happened to me; I ran everyday in my beautiful homes state before work and I did it to get through the day beginning in the morning. It saved me for 10 years. I cut out the noise, no music nothing and no caffeine. This was a time when I changed my diet as well. I really saw what I was running on; adrenaline, fatigue, stress, caffeine, and the misery of my jobs stressors but this was what I thought was my happy place until it wasn’t. I retired and all of a sudden I did not have the same stressors pushing me, I was now a lot older mentally and physically, I did not have the safety and familiarity of the trails, and I had a different work schedule. So, I found that I had severe burn-out from putting my body through so much and I did not want to run anymore. My mind did but my body could barely think of the strenuous routing of getting up at 330 am, commuting, running before work, showering and barely eating to work a 9 hr day. I took three years off, and I need to get back into the game. I have not been myself, I gained 25 pds. and my identity is loss. I am a Christian and so I hold that close but I miss my attitude of never giving up and fighting till the end. Now, for the first time in my life I took a rest and I feel so much shame and weekness. Sometimes we are so strong for others and even for ourselves, but other times we need to be strong in a different way and not to beat ourselves to the ground. We need to forgive ourselves and like you did take this as a life lesson and listen to our bodies. We have to be our own friend and we need to take care of the one body and mind we have. Thank-you for sharing this and One thing is I wish I did not beat myself up because I really made things worse and I am trying to crawl out of this hole I am in and get my running life back. It’s in my blood and the challenge, fresh air, night sky morning dawn is what brings us to life and closer to Christ Jesus. A time for thanksgiving in the morning too for all the blessings. Take care to anyone who is struggling. One running shoe at a time. 🏃 👟 😎
I have these and i don't even go on trails or climb anything . I just like to have great shoes. If they are good on rough terrain they are amazing in town, being used just sometimes....
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Absolute gold, thanks Viv! Great advice and stunningly beautiful scenery!
How long is this trail?
How lovely, it looks so peaceful 😎
It’s not always easy keeping it easy. Ain’t that the truth! What a gorgeous place! Have fun!
Very helpful
I'm about to go on my first semi-solo trip (3yr old included!). I'm nervous so that's why itm here! I don't want anyone to see us as an easy target 😁 I'll be taking my son to the toilet with me every single time, and I'll get a lock for the tent. That's all I know so far haha
That’ll be so fun!! Most places are super safe and there’s nothing to worry about. Focus on having fun (with a backup plan in case) and enjoying the outdoors!
Who Knew??? Thanks
Easy easy!
OMG. Genius. This is the grossest thing to try and solve and you solved it! THANK YOU! ♥♥
Yay!! Glad it could be solved for you.
i'm pretty sure bacteria is growing in my freezer.
I use dishwashing liquid that evening after a run and rinse with running water until overflow to rinse bubbles. Done.
Simple!! I tried that a couple of times and my bottles tasted like soap for weeks. Maybe my dish soap is too strong. Hahha
Viv wisdom...Vivsdom? Nice, great tip, thanks! I believe this should work equally as well with traditional water bottles for us cyclists.
It should! I use it on my husbands water bottles that he bikes with. He even has one of those between the bars bottles with a straw, this method works particularly well for that weird shape.
😂😂 I prefer teats and supple bits. Literally tears in my eyes here... I just hang mine upside down on a spoon handle or chopsticks in the dish drainer overnight.
Haha! Yeah my brain is a special place sometimes 😂😂 When I put water in mine I do the same with the spoon trick. That’s a great trick, thanks for sharing!
So practical I learned a lot in a short video. Your experience is valuable to many like me… thank you
Of course!! It’s a trick I use often
THANK YOU OMG 😂
Of course! Glad it could help

WoW if the gorgeous views, great stories, and new friends in this fantastic video can't motivate someone to hit the trails then I am afraid nothing will. I loved this. Been to Silverton many times, but only hiked, never tried running - the elevation must have been brutal on your lungs!! Any chance you may sign up for the Franklin Mountain trail run in January?
I probably won’t be at the Franklin Mountains this year but maybe Bandera!
What an amazing recap! You rock the bucket hat❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Bucket hats for the win!
An absolutely spectacular video. If UA-cam gave awards for cinematography you would be a shoe-in for the win. This may be your most visually stunning video yet. Beyond the raw beauty of landscape, it was some bad-add women on some bad-ass trails....what more could you want! Bravo!!
I give all the credit to the incredible landscape. I was happy to get to exist in it for the weekend. Can’t wait to gib back and film some more epic trails soon!
Vivian! What a wonderful surprise to see UA-cam recommend this vid! The algorithm works in mysterious ways 🙃 So great to meet you at this camp and hope we can share some more miles on the trail in the future!
How funny! I’m so glad it made it to you. I’m hoping Ester sends out the contact spreadsheet soon so we can all stay connected.
What a cool event! I take for granted the fact that I live in a place where I feel safe being on the trails alone, even at night. (With common sense precautions. ) I feel far safer on the trails than I ever did on the roads. Then I'll read comments from women who live in and around cities and areas where they don't dare even think about running on the trails. This camp sounds amazing for those who live nearby, or have the disposable income to travel and stay... it would be really great if they held some close to Metropolitan areas, to introduce city women interested in trails to others like them, show them the available trails near them, and how to safely navigate the obstacles... both nature and man made.
That would be super neat! This event was specifically for Hardrock since so few women get into it. I don't know the plans The North Face has, but they are moving the needle for women in the sport. Maybe one day they'll have some camps in city areas like you suggest.
Leki should co-sponsor this training camp...
I agree! Their poles would be super useful.
Can I still use the hose with moulds
If you can sanitize it and clean it fully. Sometimes it’s easier to just buy a new one though to be safe.
Right on, sister... You speak for many. My spiritual director has been teaching me this one on repeat... "Slow down and listen" btw... My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers is a top notch read. Nice to see a glance in the frame.
Yes I’ve read through it when I was a backpacking guide in the San Juan’s and it’s still so good a second time in the desert!
4 times??!!…… I’m jealous 😒
Haha!! What can I say, my body is well trained
I can't wait to see how it went! I'm glad you're back to feeling the fun of enjoyment, instead of the pressure of expectations. I didn't realize my being a mediocre runner had benefits... since I'm not going to climb a podium, i always look at races as a fun challenge where I'm going to do the best i can that day, with what my training and the conditions allow. Priority # 1 is that it be a cool experience where I enjoy the atmosphere and people. I hope you got to experience that too, but with a better performance! 😂
Starting off this Monday with a fabulous drop of vibes from Viv!! Outstanding! My biggest take away from the video, at 3:43 "I don't have to prove anything to anybody" ~ amazing advice that we should all be living by! I am getting an overwhelming feeling that you are on a profound journey. I predict that you will one day wake-up and realize that you have made it to a place that you could not ever have imagined for yourself. After that realization, you will come to know that you have always been at that place, you just needed to allow yourself to exist there. Thank you for another wonderful video.
You’re full of wisdom! I sure it all comes together one day.
Serious runner question, what's with the floopy watch band end? I see all the "cool kids" just let that band flap. Is it better, am I missing some important part of the whole watch band experiance. I lock the end down hard, 2 keepers. I must be a fool...
That’s usually the first thing on a watch to give out, secured the watchband loop. I actually use two because I don’t like mine flapping around. I can’t speak to the kids, but I like mine high and tight!
Quick tip: if you have yours break, you can buy an o ring to replace it.
Yes! So fun to meet you this weekend and now hear a little more of your story. I’m just returning to running (now trails!) after several years off … and I may still have big goals but the mountain run camp was definitely a reality check that those kind of long distance event goals are waay in the future! Which is fine, just thrilled to be running again even a little bit and meeting amazing women along the way!
Heck yeah!! My only wish was that the weekend could’ve been longer so I could’ve gotten to talk with you more. I’m so stoked you’re getting back into running and it’s in the trails! Who cares how far out big goals are, as long as you’re having a blast along the way to them. Can’t wait to see what you’re able to achieve! Hardrock 2027-2070… depending on when we get pulled for the lottery 😂
