What about me?
I took the long road to get here. I grew up in East London and then travelled for 11 years through exotic places such as Grahamstown, the UK and Europe, South East Asia and Africa. When I left, I had a bag on my back. Moving home to Cape Town, I had a cargo crate full of boxes and a lovely wife. And now 2 young boys and 2 cats - another adventure!
Having started 2 businesses and looking at my next opportunity in 2016, I found a career in Real Estate. In fact, it so happened that my Mom was making a move into my area at the same time. The stars aligned and we joined forces. She already had 20 years of high-level experience in the industry, the perfect person to learn from!

Hello Sean. Many thanks for your interesting publication. If I may ask you for a little piece of advice, kindly let me have your feeling about getting settled in Blouberg area, renting a small apartment, say just for 1 person alone, me, with a retirement monthly pension of just above 24,000 Rands?... What should I expect? Lets say cooking at home... Pleased to hearing. Best regards/Francisco (From Portugal - studied in RSA/Transvaal within 1967-1971)
Hi, thanks for your video. I am planning to move to cape town with my three children (12, 10, 6 yo). How are the international schools there, are they expensive? How about courses for music and sports? How about crime there, does it happen often? How about public transportation, is it orderly and comfortable like in london? I have lived in north west london (Golders Green) for 5 years.. please answer me, many thanks.
Hi. Kindly let me know what’s the average life cost there for 1 adult, renting a T1 flat in an intermediate area. Many thanks
Cape Town and gangsters killings...slums, informal settlements sprawling over onto main roads, freeways
Id like to address the idea that CT is clique’e. That’s true even for locals. But understand, my family and many other Capies came here long ago ... and never moved. The place lends itself to people who either can’t or won’t move. My own family came here 300 odd yeArs ago and have scarcely moved more than 100km from where they settled. Myself, I’ve only been out of the province twice in my life and never out of the country. We are incredibly loyal to each other. If you come from the North you are a stranger who needs to adopt Capie ‘houding’. That means looking people in the eye no matter their status, and see them as significant. Overall Capies value people more than things, an ethic not often shared by people from the North and East.
i was sold a lie , im from gauteng jhb . people are full of nonsense , clicky . It is extremely expensive in terms of accommodation . it is at least 2.5x more expensive than jhb in terms of housing .
I would like to move to Cape Town where is good place to stay . I am from Durban .
Love the Cape, great insight on the changes
Been there 3 times. I live in Scotland. My main concern is Crime. As I retire my mind often heads to Camps Bay or maybe into Harbour Area (Victoria and Albert?) I do not need large groups of friends or even small groups. I might drop u a line Sean.
For someone like myself who has moved to Cape Town, 10 months ago, not having any friends or family down here at all. The best advice I can give someone looking to move here is make sure you prepare yourself mentally. It won't be easy but with a positive mindset setting up clear goals and objectives, not getting distracted and staying focused on the plan, it gets better. The biggest factor that made it easier to cope with things was MONEY. Your salary is a BIG FACTOR so make sure you moving for a job that pays you good enough to enjoy nice things once in a while. With all the vibes and the scenes Cape Town is known for, you need money to do some things here and there otherwise you'll be miserable trying to save for a life that you might not have the opportunity to live if you were to die. Love and enjoy your life. I'm grateful I have the opportunity to do that. God bless your people❤
Is there a problem of racism in South Africa? Some say yes, some say no. So it's confusing. Racism I mean between the black skin and white skin. Tx.
London =Capetown London 70% non whites 30% whites Capetown 70% non whites 30% whites
I had a student from Capetown, (I live in the Northern Hemisphere) and she arrived in September. By November she had gone into a full blown clinical depression and had to return to Capetown she missed it so much. The weather and closed in feeling of where she was living here really affected her. She told me that every morning on her way to work she could see Table Mountain and the Ocean .
Born and bred here. The most Overrated City in South Africa. Pretoria Rules!❤
Been to many countries but living in Cape Town has the best lifestyle ever. Best social life and quality of life. Obviously you just have to be streetwise in dangerous areas.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Cape Town winters. And "cold" needs to be defined. I think "cold" is less than 5 degrees Celsius. Very few days or nights a year are less than 5 degrees in Cape Town. Usually only when there are snow on the mountains. It usually snows 2 or 3 times a year (high on the mountains) and the snow rarely lasts for more than 3 days.
In the areas you mentioned, you left out the Western Seaboard. Milnerton, Blouberg, Melkbos, etc. Close to the cold sea , windy, and not that hot in summer.
Welcome. I don't know about Cape Town. Can you tell me where I can find rent that is a little cheaper? I know it's in the suburbs, but I have no idea.
When it comes to finding a job in CT, where is the best places to go? I'm planning on moving from Gauteng to Cape Town
Great video, moving from Plett to Ctn, which area is do you suggest besides atlantic seaboard?Thinking of either Noordhoek, belville or Stellenbosh
😂 food is expensive in cape Town. Maybe its lower. for you but the real work force of cape town won't agree with you. Joburg is the cheapest more deal more options
thanks for the information 😀
Interesting, Looking forward to it...
Im born in capetown its nice crime is every where crime is the goverment. Who cant rule the poeple of them
1. The weather is shit 2. The people are shit 3. You pay double for everything and the quality is crap 4. you cant find places because there are no streetname signs 5. there are no sidewalks in the suburbs
I have been living in Cape Town since early childhood. The Northern suburbs beyond Tygerberg-koppie (Bellville/Durbanville suburbs) enjoy way less wind than most other suburbs. Rainfall is also less than most other suburbs. Floods in most Durbanville suburbs is unknown. Newlands situated in the Southern suburbs has the highest rainfall. The city of Cape Town and the Atlantic coast are subjected to the worst wind conditions. We rent furnished apartments in the Northern Suburbs and the current semigration to the Western Cape is observable.
Cape Town to my knowledge are not click,y, if one starts greeting others on a regular basis you will find the majority very friendly.
Mosselbay very very expensive. Weather horrible people conservative...like old SA. I HATE it
Their is a dark side asswell. Wait for it.
Strange that Capetown is considered the most dangerous city in SA...
The Cape Flats are dangerous.
Why not mention the real Cpt? The Cape flats, khayelitsha Manenburg? How hard it is on the poor..low salaries ..drugs,child kidnapping, murder, abuse .The Cpt you talking abt is for the rich. Please don't think it's all sunshine and rainbows. Schools for the poor are under staffed and badly kept. I can go on and on.
I love Cape Town....
The only good parts of cape town is the afrikaans subburbs
i come from JHB and been here 30 years, the wind has never stolen my tv, this is a beautiful but dangerous place as like anywhere.
Yip! I've been a Cape Town resident for all my life and the locals are super clicky. Ask me why? I don't know...
Depending where in Capetown you want to settle. Visit Eastern cape recently, and boy oh boy how did we miss cape Town. Service from restaurants to government is like day and night. Here in CT the restaurants are much better and food service and quality of food is higher than Eastern cape. Never I dug for potholes in my life. Man on the flippen highway, and nobody stops at traffic lights and stopstreets. The only move will be to garden route if you want value and peace for your money
This is so elitist, myopic, and kindergartenish. Nothing said about the burning social ills - inequality, poverty, racism, drugs, gang wars, foreign invasions - threatening to erupt at any time? Remove your blinkers.
Who gives a fuck about breaking in... I could care less about clicks
Omg an East Londoner! 5 reasons to move from East London, crime, filth, wind, pot holes and Buffalo Municipality. We moved from EL to Cape Town and wouldnt go back.
Great video! Spot on
From JHB, Lived in Stellenbosch for 2 years for my daughter's schooling..did great business, met fabulous people and simply loved it there. Fabulous scenery. What got me was the unsafe Highway conditions and endless squatters. I am back in JHB and I feel much safer travelling on the JHB highways and roads.
Which is the best place to buy
The rascim in Cape Tiown!! this review is for white people, you are shameless
What about Durban 🤔🌄
Cape Town is beautiful, but property is hyper expensive, and after all no safe.
Visited CPT a couple of times , I like the progressive attitude towards the city but you have to be a at least a millionaire to enjoy everything it has to offer. Especially if want buy and live in a reasonable house.🏡
Cape Town is a mediterranean climate, hot summers, cold-ish winters. I lived here most of my life, never moving.
No ANC = Good
The DA is only better because it's not the ANC. But the DA is nothing to write home about either. There's a reason their support is dropping just as the ANCs is.
💯
CAPETOWN IS REALLY COOL!! 😂👍👍
Capetonians are snobs. The traffic is terrible. The crime is out of control. You can't enjoy walking in the beautiful natural areas because you're very likely to get mugged. And the property is overpriced.
Nobody in upmarket Cape town talks about the bogey in the room….Crime Some of the highest serious crime rates in South Africa …. murder, rape drugs, gangs, in South Africa Wonderful place but, be warned.
