So i got tired of looking for a controller with singularity dpad buttons and no company will give you a controller already built in with one except battle beaver but lets be fr who finna buy from them😂😂😂. But i got a homie who specialized in this kind of department and hes helping me mod a ps5 controller. I will let yall know how the controller feels and everything. Im very excited cause if this work im going to convicne him to make a buisness out of it. And we can try to help folks like me who hates Back jump when you press back on mkx or mk1 and mvc2

DUDE THAT CONTROLLER IS INSANE. Hopefully sony makes something like that cause it would be game breaking on tekken 8 back dash or mishima dash that i have yet to master on kitzune hitbox

Finally got this controller today. Thing is a monster on inputs. Accurate and hardly have the issue with the inputs misinputting when doing quarter circles.

Dualsense dpad was fixed long time ago. Only 1st gen had that issue with loose dpad.

I can confirm that octa i terrible for diagonals in Tekken 8. I don't know ho Chikurin won Evo Japan with this thing 🙂 I also confirm sharp edges on the dpad.

Man, I really hope this catches on. Patching everything is a real pain, especially with location editing mods

I actually think the 8BitDo Sn30 Pro 2's D-Pad is technique-dependent. I don't move my thumb much, so I actually like it and have zero issues using it in even SNK games that have fuckass inputs. I can see why those who move their thumb a lot wouldn't like it - but since my thumb is always contacting the central divot at all times, I get to enjoy all its D-Pad has to offer. Meanwhile, the Raion is on the opposite side of that spectrum, where it's purely for moving the thumb a lot around the Pad instead of having it smooshed into the middle. Also somewhere in the middle is the Hori Octa's pad. It works for me, but the back bumpers are way too easy to depress.

I have 8bitdo SN30 pro+ and Pro 2.The one model you complain on is the Classic Edition GameBoy look.Mine is Grey Edition on Pro 2 and Black on SN30 pro+, it's the best Directional Button in the World for me,Just like the Super Nintendo and Super Famicon,The very best when inputting Ryu and Ken's Shoryuken Very accurate command. I'm collecting 8bitdo controller because it's the best when it comes to directional buttons,I did have or own the Classic Edition GameBoy style,So I didn't experience the bad situation that you occur,And I don't like the Classic Edition it's ugly to me,But the Grey and Black Edition?Are good

Wonder how much it would improve with even just lining the bottom of the "stick" with a custom mouse glide or the like, would not be cheap though I imagine

Surely a Pi is overkill for this, and is adding a ton of latency? Consider using a microcontroller to half your response time. The square gate for the switch stick is very clever. You do need switches with better actuation but the basic concept is great. If you made the switches hotswappable, you'd hands down have something phenomenal.

Why would you not make the stick gate the same as the GameCube?

that other setting for ps5 is for if you have a usb passthrough for a normal ps5 controller (cough cough mayflash's ps5 magic boots). that's a firmware thing, your board does NOT have it, which is why it basically doesn't do anything.

i think the direction would be better with low profile kb switches. with maybe an hexagonal gate

if you want to make it faster have you tried a square rod(under the disc) to press the switches instead of the circular one?, make it sit flush with the 4 switches I think main problem is is that the switches need to travel too far to register a click also have you tried some grease, WD40 or something under fhe disc to get a smoother motion?

PDP released a fight pad for PS3/360 that actually functioned very similar to this, though that used mouse switches as opposed to keyboard switches. Still, it worked pretty well for the most part.

the upside of keyboard switches is that they should be way more durable.

This particular controller would require a converter from the like of brook or mayflash in order to work on PS5 same goes for xbox.

i tihnk a mini rubber grommet can improved the navigation switches.

It does not have the pivot from factory, becose Nintendo has the copy right for that design. That is also the reason for back in the day, Sega and Playstation controllers also didn't had pivot designs for their d-pads.

Hey man, I've always had similar ideas and I saw half of the title and the thumbnail and I immediately jumped to joy for finding like-kin. Its like 20 to 15 bucks, check out the xbox 360 or ps3 pdp Versus fighting pad. It had a similar "Joystick" but it used mouse switches I believe. Unfortunately wasn't build with much integrity so the accuracy of the switches wore out, however hands down the most input accurate and detailed non traditional joystick I've ever come across. it was fluid, quick and easy but the feed back from the clicks from sound and feel made you sure you hit complex directionals without any doubt. I use leverless now but still dream about having the ability to recreate that thing just with modern equipment and better design. I really liked how they made the right side smaller to compensate for those who would use a claw grip. I'm all for innovation, i'd love to help out in anything, I tried sponsoring a small team to make it but they bailed out in the end. Let me know!

Can you make hall effect joystick and triggers?

I wound up printing domed caps for my victrix pro BFG and hacking all the weird buttons off to get a fightpad I could live with. Might wind up having to do what this guy did, with cherry micro switches.

Have you ever seen the Capcom's FightPad from early 90s? It's basically gun shaped for the left hand, and SNES controller shaped for the right hand, but with 6 face buttons. Very weird looking, but it works great.

def want a version of this with a clicky dpad rather than the arcade stick design (just better for movement in general but the arcade design is still nice and accurate), but outside of that i think this is one of the best layouts ive ever seen for a fightpad.

100% a lot of those problems could be solved by using better keyswitches... Blues have the WORST actuation point/time/feeling. They're so clicky in a bad way too, like cheap clicky.

what you think about the sdp split dpad. for the dual shock 4 is it realy better than the regular circular dpad
