    correct tightness on wheel bearings is snug then BACK OFF 1/6th turn. It should be loose. Snug them and you will burn them up (on normal bearings at hi load or speed -these don't get that).

    Excellent video! I have bought the same model here in the uk,and am doing my 1st melt tmrw. I have some copper ,and also some aluminium to experiment with. Should be fun I'm wondering how long 13kg of propane will last? Any ideas..

    • @thetoolguy82
      @thetoolguy82 3 місяці тому

      13 kg converts to 28 lb. We have 20 lb tanks and I can get several melts out of one tank. The biggest problem is freezing if you run it for a long time.

    So what are your thoughts on the actual Hercules Grinder? I know it's sort of a basic grinder overall, but seems to have decent power, and a nice quality switch. It didn't get bogged down in the cut. One of my recommendations is definitely open up the gear head, and switch out the grease for a higher quality grease. It'll prolong the life of the grinder, and have it running a bit smoother. I don't often have a need for a grinder this size, which is why I didnt try to go super expensive on one...I'm glad I managed to wait and pick this one up for what seems like a steal at around $70-80 on sale.

    • @thetoolguy82
      @thetoolguy82 3 місяці тому

      It does seem to be of decent quality for the price. The only problem I see with opening the head and putting better grease in is make sure you don't overdo it. I have done that on some of them in the past on the smaller grinders and if you get too much greasing you end up overheating the motor. And also sometimes better grease is thicker so it puts more restraint on the motor as well.

    • @BigBear--
      @BigBear-- 3 місяці тому

      @@thetoolguy82 Right. I agree, too much will be a problem. Put in about the same amount as was in there. As far as which grease. Obviously don't use the wrong grease. Generally most quality NLGI #2 grade high temp EP greases will work just fine. Wolfshead, Amsoil, Lucas, etc... Harbor Freight sells packs of various sized Q-tips, that are great for cleaning these gearboxes and removing the old grease. You can also use foam tipped ones, that are available in car detailing and gun cleaning sections of places like Walmart.

    I'm a 'big' guy at 6'2" and 220 lbs (down feom 250 lbs) and my Lectric XPeak is arriving some time today. I live in the mountains just North of Yosemite and I intend to tear up the area like you are doing. Some of the hills are too dificult for me now, but with that electric assist they shouldn't bbe a pronlem anymore. The key, as far as I can see, is to get out on the roads and just do the work. I'm 77 years old and I'm too old to be carrying that much weight. It's coming off. Thanks for the video, and may I also suggest looking into the Carnivore Diet. It's made me lighter and healthier, which is important the older you get. Again, thanks for this video.

    • @TheNineinchsnails
      @TheNineinchsnails 7 місяців тому

      not sure if he mentions it in the video, but its not compatible in the sense that it is believed to cause bike wobble, so personally I wouldn't install it. However, it is compatible in the sense it can be installed on the bike.

    • @thetoolguy82
      @thetoolguy82 7 місяців тому

      TheNineinchnails is correct. I've been told that it only really affects the step thru model but I believe Lectric is leaning to the safe side and not selling it for either model. I did not experience the wobble but that is not to say it can't happen. The basket came with my bike when I did the preorder. I no longer use it because I like the saddle bags better and they suit my needs better as well.

    Thanks for taking the time to do these videos. I have been looking at this bike and trying to get a feel for how it will fit me. I am 6' 285 ish and wondering how you find the size of the bike? I asked another content creator the same question and he did not have an issue. To me it still seems small, is it a comfortable fit for you?

    • @thetoolguy82
      @thetoolguy82 8 місяців тому

      I don't see why you would have a problem with the seat height but depending on what stance you like, I would suggest a handlebar stem riser like I put on mine. That there is going to be a personal preference for you. I don't like leaning forward as much because it puts a lot of weight on my wrists and after long rides it gets very uncomfortable. With the stem riser, it is now a much more comfortable ride.

    I just today found out that my 25ton Countyline splitter is junk.. was trying to split this wood (people on fourm say pignut hickory) thats a very hard to split wood and the splitter would stall out the engine and after I was done trying i put em on my 22ton Huskee and it would power right through them in low gear! It also twisted the I-beam of the splitter and now its leaking from the front cylinder seal! I honestly can't believe this from a 6day old splitter in wood that was only 16-18" at the most wide.. I dont honestly know the wood type we always called it stringy poplar but its a low-quality hard to split wood

      @@thetoolguy82 oh darn I did just get a new one yesterday but I never truly thought to make a video of the old one's demise being so busy.. I took pictures and posted the whole story about this up on OPE fourm under the title "anyone tried to split this wood? It broke my countyline splitter" you could probably find it. The twist in the frame is hard to see in pictures but obvious in person I tried to get good pics but it's hard to make it out. But the leaking was obvious and I got that. We're now thinking it's some kind of ELM wood but a true determination will only be forthcoming once I get back into those woods and find mature leaves from another of the same species

  • @jouman450
    @jouman450 8 місяців тому

    With those cylinder diameters, and assumably 2500psi/178bar of pressure, the "25 ton" splitter is more like a 14 ton splitter, and the "40 ton" splitter is more like a 22 ton splitter. Do the math.

    I just bought a 25ton one of these, on sale $1250.. my initial thoughts after using a Huskee 22ton for 20yrs were that this Countyline is a whole lot nicer and faster than it was. Interesting to note is that there was never a piece of wood in all the years of splitting big branched Oak and Hickory, Sugar, Locust etc that the Huskee wouldnt split, it spent a lot of time in low range but it always went through. Its cycle time was around 16sec and that was without load. The countyline 25 ton however splits a lot more pieces without going into low range so it does it far faster. I personally also factor in initial cost and upkeep, the 25 ton is just cheaper than that 40 ton, less fuel burning, less hydraulic fluid to change, less oil and less expensive parts.. also far lighter to move around if you need to wheel it without a trailer, that is the one area the Huskee 22ton wins, it's about 350lb, the CL25ton is about 500lb and that 40 ton is probably something like 750lb. I do really like that 40 ton one you're showing there but most of that faster cycle-time is in the withdrawal stroke, most of the time you wont be able to put another piece on fast enough to actually make that difference matter.

    • @thetoolguy82
      @thetoolguy82 8 місяців тому

      I've been wanting to do another comparison while actually splitting wood. From what I've been told from other people that own the 25 ton and have seen mine run is that the 40 ton stays on the high side of the pump more often than the 25 ton. If that is the case then the 40 ton would definitely be faster and would equal out the fuel. But on the other hand if the 25 ton does not go into the lower side then yes it will definitely use less fuel for the same amount of work. Something I might have to test in the future. As far as cost of upkeep I agree the 40 ton will cost a bit more in the long run but that is something I'm willing to do for the higher working area and the heavier built machine. Usually I have a second person helping and with 2 of us we can just barely keep up.

    • @JoshNoss
      @JoshNoss 8 місяців тому

      @@thetoolguy82 the 40 ton would most certainly stay in high gear alot more, in fact it may never go into low range with anything you're likely to find, the 25 ton will need that low range in 1/3 pieces but typically only for a moment or two until it pushes through a branch area or other type restrictions. I understand your point in liking the higher working area, where I have mine positioned it's kinda up on a step of ground so I'm standing a few inches below where it's at so I probably wouldn't like the higher working area as much. I'll be sure to watch the comparison video if/when you make it, that'd be interesting.
