Dang, forget everthing except finger and diaphragm. The rest gives a vibrato, but its absolutly not playable. Shaking the whistle like a chanter of a bagpipe and keep a proper air control? Forget it

Description for the first few sound like (or include) tremolo rather than vibrato, changing volume rather (or as well as ) pitch. If the vibrato is immediately before or after a slide, it seems to dictate which technique is best.

You cant articulate ,the techniques without a brand good whistle....any beginner tin whistle will not work. I guess this is somewhere expensive one. May be you can tweak one for your perfection......

Sarah it looks as if I found your sight a bit on the late side and I am not sure if you get comments (it is now 2021) from your older vids on youtube. Thanks for the various vids on the tin whistle. I am fairly new to this, but I have bookmarked your vids for future reference. BTW my wife's family were Kearns. but they were from the Bronx in NYC. LOL you look very much like our neice Mariane, who is a District Attorney in Manhatten. Hope all is well and pray for my improvement on the whistle as I am terrible so far. LOL

I use shaking-vibration and finger-vibration. This types are the most simple for me now. But I play the Whistle only for 4 days yet!!)))

Great post, I particularly liked the way you zoomed out whilst demonstrating the sliding note. I found that not being able to see what technique you applied really enabled my ability to mimic and apply it. It was actually a very helpful lesson and I am genuinely grateful for the post, ta.
