Mountain View | Spear Head Trails | With an Angry Can-Am!
Finally got the chance to ride with my parents again on some trails up in Saint Paul, VA. In this video we take the two seater Can-Am Outlander and the Honda Rubicon out on a trail system we never experienced before. Meaningless to say, we had a good time but ran into a major issue with the Can-Am while being miles deep on the mountain trails.
Luckily, we were able to limp and tow the machine back to the trailer and figure out what the best next step would be.

I Got Some Aztex's & Wild Boar Floorboards!
When’s your next trip to busco?
Will be a little bit of time, I'll post a community topic when we plan on going. If you clicked the notify button YT should tell you I hope. But atm am working on a new unit and got to fix my oil plug on Honda. If you see new videos come out about busco, I'm quite far behind on editing... sorry bud
Thinking about heading there. Have you rode any of the other trails in VA. How do they compare to wv. Great video.
Thank you. We went back the next day with a Honda Pioneer and my Rubicon and it was fun taking main and some not too difficult side trails. I haven't done any other trail system yet to really compare them and been a while since I been to WVA. Pretty much mountain view is as the name sounds, pick your route, climb some hills some steep some not and drive a little on hwy and off onto a rocky trail to get the main "mountain view". They got a waterfall but when I went it was pretty much dried up and some of the side trails had great views too from cliffside to overviews. I remember WVA having some rails-to-trails and waterfalls here and there and more complex rocky trails that are optional. But I hear some of the other spearhead trails seem to have a little bit more excitement. Hope that helps.
Were you there this weekend
I wish I was but no. This was back around June? Got another video of day 2 using a SxS instead of the canam.
@ ok were their this weekend so was wondering if you were their
@@Foothillsoff-road Dang small world. How were the trails now? Wondering if the storms did any damage.
Dangers
Nice video man. I ride at busco beach a lot. I’m Located in between Jacksonville and Wilmington Would love to meet up once it gets warmer
Heck yeah hit me up when your ready. We're located around Atlantic Beach so not too far apart. Would be awesome to ride with ya!
Klan. Ain't a gang 👊🏽😅💯😅👊🏽
U not wrong lol
That’s meee
😂 Should of went riding with ya! Hope we get another chance to!
Starting on 4wd doesn’t count
I Wish the cleats were a little more aggressive for the floorboards
@@powderaddicts6364 yeah it's some getting used to.. kinda weird for our feet...
@@WantedTrails I’m sure you could buy aftermarket foot fleets and bolt’em on but for the price a tad bit dissapointing. Really like Lucky 7’s design but price is almost a grand to get it to where I am sadly
@@powderaddicts6364 Goodness that's high!
i dont believe they have a quiet time. We ride all nite.
@@harlemdavid8405 yeah first time camping and that was a "rule" they told us to follow. Next time I'm riding all night too 😂
Good message. They need to hear this kind of support.❤
@@kirbycat Thank you. The people need all the hope and help they can get. But now we got hurricane Milton coming in at Florida and it's not looking good...
I know you already had it off before you did the floorboards but is the guard on the inside of the front tires connected to the floorboards? Im asking because i was thinking about getting these but my winch solenoid is connected on the inside of this so i don't plan on removing it.
I'd love to help you out here but can you describe to me what guard you're referring to? I threw my winch solenoid inside the little storage flap on the left front fender (now it's also a cup holder). The floorboards just involve removing some floor frame brackets and the plastic steps. If you're talking about like the splash guard on the inside of the wheel protecting the engine; I didn't have it on mine when I bought it, but I don't see why you can't keep them on there. If I were you, I'd strip the bike down and take the step off and see if they will still hold in place without that plastic piece (either by the pins or some strong zipties). I hope this helped you a little bit?
@@WantedTrails it's already gone from yours but it's on the inside of the back half of the front tire. I assume it keeps water from splashing on the engine. It's just a flat wall that goes from the fender down to the frame it's black not colored.
@@JohnnyRebLa Aight, I don't think the splash guards are connected to the floor boards. I do not recall seeing a spot on mine for them to be when they were removed. Not going to lie, I'm not entirely sure it's a great place for your solenoid to be mounted to but all that matters is that you like it there. With that said, if I were you, I would take the side plastics off which is just a few push in tabs and take a looksie before you decide yay or nay for the after market floorboards. Due to me not having the splash guards mounted when I bought my 2021 TRX520FA7, I cannot accurately answer your question. But in regards to a question you may be asking yourself "is the floorboards worth it?" - Then yes, if you do a lot of hard riding or just want bigger tires.
@@WantedTrails I figured you took them off yourself.
I've had the Big Gun exhaust on my Rubi already. I just ordered the tuner. I'm hoping it improves the way it runs. It won't idle under water even with the O2 delete.
I've had mine idle a few times underwater but I try not to... Mine can be finicky and stall especially when changing gears while underwater... The tuner imo worked pretty well with factory tune but I upped mine a bit to help in water for those "emergencies" lol
you got to let the tires work you dug that thing down
@@Bobberboyz_Official Oh yeah. Started that way until realized it was straight up cliff of all sand 😅. Tried to pop her up before Micah came over but traction left town 😂
@@WantedTrails it definitely was a cliff 😂
Went today and that hill climb is destroyed 😂 it’s got 6foot ruts in it at the top those razors and side by sides destroyed the trail 😂
Dang.. Yeah they rip and tear for sure! 🤣
Live down the rode from the arc park wife and I ride every chance we can on the weekend great video
That's very convenient! Hope y'all have a blast every time you go! 🙌
@@WantedTrails oh we do
Loved the park but there definitely needs to be rules in place for people to get some sleep
The trail makes no sense. Straight and flat is boring...then it turns into holes that only a 4wd can get through. Acres and acres of land, but they couldn't make multiple winding/parallel trails? It sucks having to drive all the way to Busch beach atv park for decent trails, especially when a huge forest is 25 minutes away. I'd love to see the local counties take control of the forest and make better use of it.
I say the same thing. I wish they opened up areas like Pringle road and croatan behind star hill as an ohv, because it would bring good income to the state or federal depending on who owns what. We got lots of sandy areas and decent places for trails, like the old days. I used to ride horses all throughout the croatan and it would just be a blast to do ATV. Thanks for the comment, I agree with ya 100%
This is so close to my house but I love the option of going around mud lol
For sure! It's not always fun getting covered in mud and having to fight the hole. I know the trail is a lot better than it used to be...
This North Carolina by new bern
Yes it is
We need hook up and ride Mudd pit adventures
Right! Maybe this summer we'll all get free time and be able to meet up! 😁
Changes coming to the can am soon…
I live about 45 minutes from here, and I've been 1 time. I wasn't a fan but I didn't have a good guide the day I came. A lot of mud, and the ruts were really bad. I actually laid my ATV over on it's side on a downhill trying to straddle the ruts. Wheels slipped and over she went. Had to wait for my riding partners to notice and come back for me.
Dang, I'm glad you had some buddies to help you but did you get hurt out there? This video was our first time and we didn't really have a guide either but the staff explained how the park layout was. As for the difficulty of the trail, I would 100% say you should have a riding buddy. A couple areas are truly technical and easy to flip due to the slope, slickness, ruts, or rocks. I can see why you didn't enjoy the park that well; but for me because I live right on the coast line, I really enjoy the change and the little bit of challenge. I will say for sure that a lifted bike like mine makes it so much more difficult at times and extremely intimating. Thanks for watching and sharing your experience.
@@WantedTrails no I was OK. I was barely moving when the ATV went over. Just had to stand there and wait because I couldn't lift it back to all 4 tires. I think your lifted ATV is a blessing and a curse. Good for some stuff, bad for others. My stock 25s didn't do me any favors that day. I definitely think a wider machine (SxS) has an advantage there because those ruts are bad. I saw a guy on some 30s or 32s there on a Renegade go up a hill and turned to the right to climb the hill more, and when he turned on those big tires it tilted right over and he was able to walk up the ATV as it was going over. Just luckily it leaned against a tree and he was able to stand on the ATV and hold on to the tree. If not for the tree the ATV would have been down the backside of the hill. He probably would have been able to keep walking up it until he jumped off, but the ATV wouldn't have been as lucky.
@@jasoncampbell2808 Right, our bikes can be pretty heavy. Since I'm lifted and ride on 30s, I actually installed some decent 2" wheel spacers to help with stability. Both times I been to that park I was just lifted with 30" BKTs; but I plan on going back in June with my new setup and tires. Stupidly, I'm running skinny mud tires and not the best choice for those trails... 😅
2 wheel drive sport quad with a clutch in the mud… just begging to get stuck! haha 😂
Right! 😂
Ole Honda puttin in work!
Yes Sir!
Man, just stop saying send it if you're gonna go 2mph
Awesome video my friend
Thank you man, it means a lot!
@@WantedTrails yeah we will have to right together sometime
@@matthewbateman7096 Yes sir! Let me know when you plan on going to Busco if you want to meet up! Be fun to see that epic 6x6 build 😁
@@WantedTrails heck yeah should be going sometime this summer just gotta find some time off work busy time of year for us farmers
@@matthewbateman7096 Yes sir I understand completely. I know in June 19-25 I'll be in VA.
Did you notice a big difference in power climbing or in ruts ?
Night and Day Difference! Before, I was able to crawl up logs and other steep obstacles only in Low Range. Now, I can do it in High (Drive). Not only did my High (Drive) improve, but my Low Range even ended up getting more power and torque! I wasn't sure if it was going to be worth it, but I'm glad I did it! Thanks for watching. 😁
I will admit, that exhaust did sound pretty good under load going through those mud holes at DeepCreek.
Yessir! Everytime I hear it go down it makes me giggle!
This video really look nice
Thank you! 😁
i love the intro, the exhaust made me lol
Thanks. I love the exhaust! Idk about fellas behind me tho 🤣
Kevin has that place set up right 💪🏼
For sure! Park is the best one in NC that I been to so far! 👍
Yeasir! It was a blast meeting you at deep creek Saturday!
Dang I was literally telling Micah last night that I thought M2Offroad was your channel! I should of asked y'all if ya wanna ride. Hmu sometime man, y'all are awesome!
4 Low
Yup, you got me. That's usually what I run in for some nasty riding! But in some videos coming up, 4 High (Drive) is almost just as good now as my old 4 Low. Thanks for watching 😉
Four Low
Does your Honda idle under water?
Yes Sir! But because I seen ya looking around, I'm gonna let you know that I do get an issue with my DCT electric shifter if it stalls... Even in manual it may get stuck or refuse to go into a gear, until it's moved a little bit... Just happened yesterday at Deep Creek ATV Park because I washed away my di-electrical grease... I will also add that my new exhaust setup is amazing with the tuner for water! However... Sometimes it will just randomly stall around a cold start. Haven't had that happen in the water yet but I'm guessing it could.
Some pole barn garage vibes here, nice
Lol
Pigs
Busco beach ?
Right on the nail!
Cool video not crazy mud but just right safe n happy trails guys
Thanks! It was a ton of fun out there. It's nice not having to worry about too deep of holes. 😁
As slow as y’all move thru deeper mud holes y’all gonna end up sinking those machines a lot. If your unsure hop off walk the hole to get a feel for it - Then hit it - you let off the throttle completely several times
Also let the water push out the exhaust before turning off the bike - just incase you have water in the exhaust
@@ChannelMarker Absolutely, I agree. We actually walk every hole we go in before hand. In the water/mud hole in this video we actually both fell in it off camera lol
nice
We like that place but if want adventure we ought to hook up go pine lane Mudd pit adventures
Is that over in Kneeling, VA? Is it similar to Catfish ATV Trails & Pond? That would be awesome to hook up out there!
If you want, we may be going back to Busco Beach March 9th if ya want to try to hook up. I usually try to put on my UA-cam Community Feed dates and where we're going. 😁
I haven’t rode there yet but I have been to Outback. Maybe I’ll see y’all out in the trails one day ? Have a Great week
Same to you dusty! Haven't been to outback yet but deep creek was pretty fun. Still have to get Part 2 edited and out!
Y’all gonna be at mud bash?
Maybe. As it's looking, probably not; but we might be able to try to be at Mud Bash 2024...
