That yellow hill to the North West about 4 miles inland is Carman Muir the site of another Iron Age fortification large enough to fit the whole site at Dunadd within its walls. Unfortunately there has never been an academic excavation conducted on Carman Hill Fort

Why don't they fix these old castles? I'm sure there are a lot of stone Masons would donate to their time to see these as they once were

Thanks for this. I can't remember going right to the top, but it must be 40+ years since I was there. I don't remember seeing barrels in the powder magazine. Perhaps more of it has been opened up since I was there.

Some kind of history along with this would be nice. It would so be good and an understanding and you doing your research on the original layout.

The stone masons were truly masters of their craft. They give meaning to, "They don't build them like that anymore."

Very well built but I can't even begin to imagine trying to heat it, brrrr. Any enemies of the Campbell's would have great difficulty sneaking up on them with those deep gorges to climb.

I was there in 1971. Hasn't changed a bit.

I've passed Dunnoattar Castle, but I didn't have the chance to visit it. I do need to rectify that. It looks like a stunning castle.
