John how old were you when you had Eliot? ..am looking to buy same watch A168 I keep seeing it often around
@@Brian_Tonei_8 Hi Brian, I was in my early 40s. I highly recommend kids :) and the A168! This Casio is the one I see the most often out too.
Just started collecting, already 3 Casios. This one is up next I believe.
@@cnkilts Good to hear that. This watch scratches a lot of itches! What other Casios do you have?
@@FatherSonWatchTalk My Casios are the AE-1500WH, DW-5600 and Casio LF-20 in white. I also have a Timex Expedition. Two work watches and two everyday watches.
@@cnkilts Sounds like a great collection! I have a Timex Expedition too. Very affordable field watch. Have a great day.
7 years battery
My ten year old got this from his great grampa. He wears it every day.
@@savvygood That is awesome! Great memory and watch for your child.
Great watch. I've also got the 158, 178 and the 700. You need to check out these models especially the 700.
@@billtinnell2206 Thanks for the advice. I will definitely check it!
@@billtinnell2206 I checked out the 178 and 700. Very sharp versions! Love Casio. I just bought a Duro this week and have another one to enjoy. Great affordable brand.
Casio forever. Great watches you showed here. I love the tough solar system! G-shock always wins for me, but the non-g tough solars are reealy interesting. Love the air force watch too. Thanks for this video!
Cool stories, interesting watches and a very nice video! I particularly liked the US air force watch and that Bulova is super, super cool! I have watches of relatives too and I find it’s such an appropriate object for remembering your loved ones. Thanks for this video!
@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed You are welcome! It is nice to remember the person when wearing a watch. Glad you had this experience as well.
An evergreen from Casio. I’ve had this for more than 11 years and had to change the battery only after 10 and a half. I made reviews of that too, but Mr. YT is preventing me to send you the l i n k s , as I meant to do for the ARMitron (as you asked in response to one of my comments). Thanks for this video!
@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed Thanks for trying to send the videos!
The Apple Watch does offer Sapphire Glass, It does have always-on Display...The battery life is still only ONE day. I love my Apple Watch, but I still wear my Casios more often
@@Rfpepe7295 Yes, I think the battery life is a big negative for now. The always on display is a big energy drain. Thanks for watching!
There’s been long periods in life where I didn’t wear a watch just because it felt weird to have one on but currently in a period where I feel weird without one on. Thanks for the vid.
@@The-Casio-Man 100%!
It must be (in general) smartphones and smartwatches. I mentioned on WC that for me the phone is such a pain, I have to unlock it and that can be challenging as it has a mind of its own. Smartwatches have so many functions and I actually have one that I keep as a dress watch ! as its kinda smart looking and you can change the watch faces, but it need a charge once a day so as a practical watch it doesn't cut it. A Casio as minimum has a 3 year battery and many have 10 years. Another great video guys, I see the leaves are changing colour on the trees.
@@paulkennedy6386 Thanks Paul! Charging is a big issue. Love quartz and automatics.
I had given up wearing a watch After smart phones had begun so ubiquitous. Then I found myself really needing to look at my wrist to see the time instead of having to pull my smart phone out of my back pocket or wherever it was. That was the beginning of the end for me! It rekindled my long dormant love for Casio , and all other watches. And I fell into the rabbit hole! Now, on the rare occasions in which I don’t wear a watch, I find myself looking at my naked wrist… Armitron has a story that goes back to the early 70s. I own an all- stainless steel Arbitron Rubik, I made a couple of videos about it, maybe have a look at them if you want. Thank you for this video!
@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed I also had a dormant love for Casio and watches. I like how you said that! Appreciate the feedback and input on the history of Armitron. Can you reply with the links to your video? Thanks.
I didn’t always wear a watch because i didn’t like the feel of something around my wrist and i assumed I wouldn’t get use to it even if i tried. I started with an Apple Watch which changed that eventually leading to a quartz analog then mechanical.
@@Skyler.Santana Glad the Apple Watch helped get you into the hobby! I was wearing the Timex with a bund strap this weekend and was thinking of you. Have a great week!
@@FatherSonWatchTalk 😉🤝
Casio, Seiko, Timex, Citizen in that order are my faves. My first watch was the DBC-63! The A168 is great and want one but I do want to do the SKXmod so its all steel. I do wish it had a timer!
@@rm9sbg93zxjzg That SKXmod looks awesome. I would love to try this out too.
They actually make a titanium Apple Watch with sapphire glass. My fiancé ran hers through the washing machine and it’s totally fine! They definitely should implement a rotor magnetic charge from kinetic energy like automatics and solar charging. One huge thing with them is heart and sleep tracking, if worn often they can detect abnormalities. I still don’t own one though lol.
@@CHWatches Thanks for the info! It would take a lot for me to get one. But I understand the advantages.
Just got mine, really enjoying it.
@@nicholaspietrzak9992 Great! They are dependable and classic. Thanks for letting us know.
A Casio fan here. After years Of experience in various fields I can say that Japanese products are excellent, while being affordable. Musical instruments, fountain pens, cars, … watches: they are all superb, and yet hum in a way. Thanks for this video!
@@WUDN-WatchUDontNeed Yes, Japanese quality is awesome. My car is one of their products too. Glad you enjoyed the video.
For me it is hard to rank, as I like most Japanese watches. I wear Casio the most as they are more affordable. For pure choice I guess Seiko as they go from 100$ to mega money, so the range is vast ! For value it has to be Casio. Citizen are also on the up lately and if they continue to do so I see them stealing sales from Seiko.
@@paulkennedy6386 Agreed. Citizen is really saying “move over Seiko!”
Correction: Casio on the wrist is the A168-WA
Excelent choice and fantastic taste young friend. Enjoy it in good times.
I'm a big G-Shock fan. My first one is a Baby-G BGD560-7, which is basically just a smaller DW5600. I also fixed my brother's old DW9052-1V, which was missing a spring bar and bezel studs, as well as having a shattered bezel. I do like the way that it fits me, and I'm going to compare it to the GW6900NASA24-1 that I have coming in later today.
@@Ricelord4 Elliott loves his too. We agree the G-Shocks are just plain awesome. Let us know what you think of your new one.
@FatherSonWatchTalk I love it! It wears very similarly to the DW-9052. Even on my 6.5" wrist, it feels right, though I will give it to the 9052 for having better strap articulation by the case. The resin on the 6900 strap feels more supple. 😅 Maybe that's because the DW-9052 is over 15 years old, though, and the strap may need to be replaced on it. The only slight gripe I have with the GW-6900 NASA 2024 Edition is that it costs $170, while a standard GW-6900 on Casio's website costs $140 (and even cheaper on Amazon at $89). But honestly, that's fine since this is supposed to be a limited edition. Something about staring at the NASA logo and the TRON-like lines for the Tough Solar panels fills me with joy. I don't regret buying it, and it'll probably stay on my wrist for a long, long time. I just need to make sure that I'll be able to order a new bezel and USA flag keeper when those inevitably start to show signs of wear and tear.
@@Ricelord4 very good! Enjoy it and have a great Sunday!

What a cool channel concept. Im 35 years old and I still love “watch talk” with my dad. A love we both share for these little machines and works of art. Thanks, guys.
@@8polyglot Glad you enjoyed it! I am really happy you and your dad talk watches. I am so glad to find this hobby for Elliott and I. We have had lots of fun!
The difference between seasons, for me, means only one thing- if it is colder or in bad weather, I wear long sleeve shirts, plus maybe a jacket or coat, so my bigger pieces, more so my thick watches simply doesn’t fit under all these layers, so it is time for my more thin pieces🤷🏼♂️. It is something I take in count when I’m buying a watch.
@@Zotrax1946 That is a great point. I usually just wear mostly short sleeves, even in the winter. I do notice some watches get hung up on my coat. I may switch to a thinner watch as you do.
casio good tier watch forever❤
@@faishalhasbullah07 I agree! What a great watch. I wore mine today.
The A168 was released in 1997 according to Casio. its more of a 90s icon than an 80s.
The design of it is really late '70s early '80s. So it reminds me more of the 80s and not the 90's. Greetings from Amsterdam, Holland, The Netherlands 🇳🇱🧡

Have you guys seen the recent release of the ABL-100WE? An updated modern version of the A-168. What are your thoughts on it?
@@The-Casio-Man I just looked it up. That is a nice update if you wanted more functionality. However the other watch features seem similar (crystal/case). I would prefer the classic version, but it is a good option. Thanks for letting us know!
@@FatherSonWatchTalk yeah I agree, it’s a little bit pricey too. It’s already sold out most places as I tried to purchase one earlier, the hunt continues.
@@The-Casio-Man I do like it’s upside of being more advanced and at least it has a decent backlight like the original!
Hi guys. 👋 The A168 is such a smart looking watch. I wonder if you've considered the SKXMOD case/bracelet mod kits for this watch? I think it would address the shortcomings you identified. You'd have to get a new faceplate for the module _(and SKXMOD-supplied faceplates can't contain "CASIO" or other trademarked terms like "Illuminator")_ , but on the plus side you can choose the faceplate with the color scheme you like best (one of which closely resembles your A168's face). Some might question spending a multiple of the original price of the watch to upgrade it, but all that matters is 1) the total that you spent, 2) what result you got, and 3) whether you feel good about it in the end. In any "case", wear your A168 in good health sir. 🍻🥂👍
@@vonkruel good ideas! Thanks!
