Was this any other club that i would of heard of after this?
My band, The Randys, played there. The cops raided club and shut us down. Fun gig.
Time machine please
Funny thing. Joe who ran the Bleu Grotto and I wound up living 1 block away from each other in NYC.
so this is what i was missing when i was 11, i lived in OKC at that time. seen a few shows at Cains.
Farfisa Compact, best garage organ!
Cool video
here I am 30 years later continuing the Tulsa punk scene
man in 1980 i would have been 8 and living in Oklahoma city with no idea this was even going on. really wish i could get a better look at that club now, im curious about the paper mache stalactites.
I spent that summer there every weekend, ask me anything haha
Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for this rare gem!
This was life changing, thank you for this blessing of a video
My introduction to the Tulsa punk scene occurred on a fall friday night in 1980 at the grotto. The Slits were playing. Showed up in full Allman Bros attire. (ponytail, cowboy hat & pearl buttoned long sleeve shirt) 3 days later shaved my head, bought a Dead Kennedys cassette and Plasmatic's "STOMP OUT GESTAPO TACTICS" t-shirt. The rest is history...
Who cares what the people say I thought it was well done nice job
Holy shit both of my parents are in this video...omg 😂
Punks not dead, it’s just resting.
Aweome to see live footage of this band. They were based out of Dallas, right?
And two drummers!? So cool.
Hell Yeah!

cool video for 1980. i started going to punk shows around april 1980 i was 14, in Southern California. What an amazing time for live punk gigs at run down old small clubs like: The Cuckoo's Nest( sweat box ) The Whisky A Go Go, The Vex( sweat box ) Al's Bar. And obscure one time only places that dared to book a punk show@!!!!. Amazing time!!!... So many amazing Southern California punk bands like: TSOL, Social Distortion, Black Flag, CH3, Circle Jerks, Wasted Youth, Legal Weapon, Adolescents, Red Cross, Angry Samoans. AMAZING LIVE PUNK SHOWS--- AhhhhhhhWhewwwwwwYaaaaaaaaBaaaaaabyDamnnnIt.
people need perms again
I created the band name. Used to play with DB. Bone, contact me, it’s Ralph, richeylather88@yahoo.com. Wondering how you are dude!
Keep up the good work 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Cute chicks in this segment!
Oklahoma City is one of the most normal places in the world to grow up, but in many ways, the last place on earth to jump on trends. My mother never saw a hippie until 1972, and that was almost 6 years after the first longhairs appeared in California. When we finally started getting "punk" here, it was already over in England, and the form it came in was arguably a punk/new wave hybrid. I remember in 1983, it was a big deal in our high school when a kid upset the "hair code" and got a mohawk, and when we I finally saw it, it really wasn't a mohawk, or a really poorly constructed one, anyway.
DISLIKE ,THIS IS THE WORST LEGO JAWS,DISLIKE
Love it

What's a POGO alert? Googling just gives me Pokemon related results.
Did u ever find out?
I did! Apparently it was a wry reference to a dance of the period. The context and dry tone, however, led me to believe that it was a warning for some now-archaic threat.
Punk is more than just the music. It is a way of life. It is about what you believe as well. It is about the underdog.
I remember this. My friends and I were all the freaks. Mohawks Liberty Spikes green and blue and pink piercings and tattoos everywhere. Combat boots and Docs dirty flannel shirts. Awesome. This was the late 80s early 90s. I started young. I was 12 and 13 when I got into it. We were all excited about this news story. I believe it was in 1992.
this is 1980..you even hear that chick say it
That was the third wave. There was another wave of punk in the mid-eighties too. This was 12 years before you.
Excellent!!!
This is fun! And, any other memories of KCSC's "Insect Lounge"? I used to go to bed with a cassette recorder going, listen to the tapes the next day, and make my own compilations of the songs I liked best. Pearl Harbor and the Explosions, Blotto, the Bakersfield Boogie Boys, and many more ... wow. Thanks again. markssuperblog.blogspot.com/ spocksrecordround-up.blogspot.com/
any one recall …The Reactions... and venues like Charles’s Chilli, Rumours, Destinations, Quicksilvers.. After the Gold Rush..
I remember it all. U2 played at Charlie's Chili on the tour for their second album "October".
I was the manger for the Reactions and they played at Charlie's Chili (after a law suite). the Reactions were Ted front manm, vocals, Martin drums, Haden bass and Steve lead guitar. I also recall having discussions with a the owners/management of Quicksilver nightclub (on the corner NW23rd and a street who's name escapes me) Destinations bar (3.2 beer) was there (Reactions 1st gig) and a biker bar close by.. about 'producing' and putting on a U2 show there (at Quicksilvers). I don't recall U2 playing at Charlie's Chilli.. I do recall that U2 wanted $13,000 to play in OKC and my portion was to be $3,500(which I just didn't have the and so passed on the opportunity.
here from U2 web site... 1982-02-17 - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - Jammys (5 songs) must say I dont recall a place called 'Jammys'
Ah here is is... Boy Tour 1981-04-03 - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA - Quicksilver's
4:42 Girl looks into camera and destroys the universe.
Wow! People in Oklahoma have lost their "country" accent over the years. This is an awesome video.
They all sound like they're from California now!
Woman at 4:15 is coked out of her gord, check out how she touches her nose, hilarious. And was that Will Rogers park at the beginning?
That's my mom!!
@@milaisruthless Lol, really? Ask her if I was right.
Artists steal from artists? Unheard of.
Oklahoma's first punk band was Debris' from Chickasha. They recorded an underground classic album "Static Disposal" 5 years before this was released. These kids were late to the party. Debris' are still playing in the OKC area now as Killer Kicks.
+Race Baker Hey friend I had a question. There is a film out which details the Hardcore movement of the early 80's called American Hardcore and in it a map is shown of the U.S. showing the bands from all around. Oklahoma had one on that map and for years I have wondered who that band was. Here is the map. Maybe you can help homie. s77.photobucket.com/user/coffeesnorter13/media/ah1.jpg.html
Hey man, that band was N.O.T.A. aka None Of The Above. They were out of Tulsa. I don't know too much about their history, but there is an album of theirs on UA-cam you can listen to. Just do a search for "N.O.T.A." I saw one of the guys from that band at the Green Door in OKC years ago in a band called The Beer Mongers, I believe. I don't think they are still playing, but I could be wrong. There must have been a pretty cool national network of punk bands in the early 80's. I remember reading about the Flaming Lips doing shows with Black Flag in OKC way back then. Funny to picture now.
+Race Baker Thanks so much man. Crazy I always wondered who they were I'm from From Tulsa and have always asked about it with no real response. Thats cool that there some legacy here. Thanks again for the info il give the album a listen if I can find it. I wonder if any record stores here might have there LP. Do you know what year they recorded?
My name is also Nick Romine
0:34 - Those flares are killing me ! First a Pogo warning , THEN a Tornado warning....which is it? What''s cool is ,, they gave fans and casual observers a chance to voice their opinions....Even if some of them couldn't do so without interrupting each other. Her hair looked blue , but , it was'nt so ahead of it's time , it just took brass to look like that in Oklahoma. First time I saw a woman with purple hair was in Dallas in '81 , but , I was too young to get into clubs , there must have been many others.
Great Stuff!
