As someone who drove up and down '69 for a long time, I'd always see the sign for the "Little Britt Inn," which had the names of the two owners on it. At one point I drove by that sign and the second owner, Teri, had a BIG red "X" over her name. I believe the Inn was sold after that. I always wondered what happened (but I could hazard a guess).

24 years ago, it was all crack city in that area there now it’s cleaned up because the minorities have bought the place and they won’t rent it out to crackheads and the crackheads are moving north to Sutton where the prices are cheaper

Used to live at Sherbourn and Dundas. Across the street from Sams, on the 21 floor. Sure the neighbourhood was sketchy, but where else in downtown could you get a one bedroom with a parking space for 1065 per month...I loved Toronto.

First housing projects in all of Canada! Maybe North America depending on the stats. It was a slum before the 50's. Definitely was a hood in the 90's and early 2000's.

@SMOOVKILL1 NYC had large scale housing projects in the the late 1930s. The architect who designed Regent Park was American.

@TurfToursCanada The architecture was American I think I heard you say. I wasn't sure if if it was an American here or a Canadian there. Alot of architecture is from here and there. My grandparents were born in Cabbagetown 1915 & 1917.

You missed the axe. Take the road south in Britt and watch out. There was a crazy guy with an axe stopping your car and good luck! This used to be a port for gas coming in for the north. Moose mountain mine north of Capreol (noth of Sudbury) would send iron ore pellets by train to Britt and then by boat to the steel mills in Pittsburgh. Both industries are gone now.

Well, I don't know if I met your grandfather, but I met an older man named Vince outside the old Larry's Tavern nearly a half-century ago. At the time, I was making a habit of trying to find and learn traditional native wisdom and I kept a Journal then, and wrote about an encounter with another "white man" (like me) that we met in PAB. I was with two Ojibway elders and we were going fishing out near Hole in the Wall. One of the elders I was with got talking to a guy he knew as we had stopped in town for bait. The old guys knew each other, I could tell, by their easy banter. I remember Vince(nt) said something about how it was good in the spring but, now it was too warm. We went anyways and Idat in the boat thinking about how the cold water currents and the season affected fishing. (He turned out to be right!) I had never realized how complicated nature was, and how much there was to learn. I had always thought that a good fishing hole was, well, a good fishing hole. That comment was one of the few I heard back then that set me off on a life-long fascination with nature. Hope it was him, that would be an interesting connection to your video.

I grew up in this neighborhood in the early/mid 90s. I heard that there was lots of crime in 80s, but by the time I lived here it was pretty safe. In the mid 90s there were lots of issues at 225 Van Horne and Peanut itself. Things got cleaned up a bit and then by the early 2000s 335 Van Horne Avenue became the sight of a raid as there was a ton of criminal activity in the building. I'm sure you've heard of the stabbing at Georges Vanier too during their night school program in the 2000s as well. A group of Russian and Tamil students got into it and one person was killed. Things are much safer nowadays in the area.

Approximately 40 years ago my parents and aunt and uncle went and vacationed at Byng Inlet. It was at a beautiful big old house the bottom of a steep hill, landing at the water. They had 3 cottages and had just bought the place and were fixing it up. I recall they had twin sons. My dad was a mechanic and went fishing on one of their boats, which promptly broke down lol his luck. In the middle of water he fixed the boat motor. When he arrived back and explained he was offered a job and a place to stay LOL He declined but i would have loved it. Everyone was so nice❤ thank you Byng Inlet❤

Is this a rural slum? What a stupid question. To the people with silver spoons in their butts, maybe. Just looks like modest homes in a rural setting, people who enjoy hunting and fishing and less government. A few places that have garbage lying around, but you find that in any neighborhood. Most places take care of their yards. What is not to like.
