I'm just one guy in my garage working on anything from ATV's to Hot Rods. If it's got a motor, I'll work on it. Also do custom interior work on my own cars. Just began this UA-cam adventure and look forward to getting some videos out there of some of the things that I do in the garage. I am not an expert so don't do anything I do without consulting an expert or someone with the knowledge and know how.

Also, I tend to favor accessibility over space. You might consider shortening the table top to where you can reach the back wall
You could attach the 2x4s with hinges so they fold down when you pull the table out
funny i also spray some small wheel well rust spots on my grand caravan. i heavily spray it once per week and over the past year and a half it has not progressed much at all. i think there are better rust inhibitors than wd40 but frequency is the key. i also see the color change.
I have the same issue on my 350. What size springs and meter in rods did you switch to? Mine ran rich and was very fummy at idle but ran fine at driving speed. Was yours the same before?
@@dodgdatona Mine did the same thing. I can’t remember the springs or rods. I’ll have to look in the kit I bought for it tomorrow. I also went one size smaller for the jets.
@@dodgdatona The main jets I went from .098 to .095. The metering rods I used are .073 x .047 and I went up two sizes to the pink springs. Hope it helps. Mine is running fine now. No more black spark plugs and the exhaust doesn't smell or burn my eyes anymore. 😂
Running minimal lean is the key to a good running engine.
A couple pointers. With MIG, you push instead of drag when making a pass. Also, maybe have the tip just a bit closer when welding for the shielding gas to clear better. Just keep fine tuning settings so it doesn’t ‘pop’ when welding. It was sounding better towards the end of the video. Like with anything, it just takes practice
@@FarmerSteveO Thanks, all suggestions are much appreciated. I’ll keep practicing.
I have one for many years now and it works pretty good but not as precise as a spin balancer, but it will get you buy in most cases.
i have one of those and at best it gets you "close enough" works for around 55-60 mph but anything faster you need it speed balanced.
I have a 1998 Chevy Silverado Z71. Now what if the bushing holes are elongated. I took my truck to a restoration shop here in Michigan. He welded up the bushing holes then redrilled them. The truck is beautiful. All the body lines are perfect after the repair and the door closes perfectly. Do one of these repairs
I have a 87 GMC Jimmy 4x4 that I need to fix the hinges, so thank you! Awesome job!!
Glad I could help. Thanks for watching.
Nice job it looks very good well done 💯🤔👍
@@martindoyle766 Thanks 👍
I hope you cleaned off the block before putting on the base gasket and cylinder as there was old gasket material all over it still when you installed the piston.
Yup, all good. Thanks for watching.
Great video How does the truck run now? Just subscribed
@@tooljunkie6003 Runs great. Doesn’t run rich anymore. 👍
Thanks for the video. Sorry for what is probably a dumb question, but are those rockers that you installed stock or aftermarket?
@@Oheeeoh They are the stock rockers. Thanks for watching.
Polaris500 2004
Most excellent video,- much appreciated, how did you get that head so clean,? and milled?
Took it to a shop to have it bored.
great job.
Thanks for the well made video and reference. I am right in the middle of the head install in our 2003 Sportsman 500. What a crazy torque sequence!
Yup found it very strange.
Just curious if ring 1 and 2 are any different or is there a top and bottom to the rings
Rings 1 and 2 were marked and the markings face up.
Why did you stop making videos? You seem to enjoy it.
I do enjoy making the videos and will make more soon. I moved to a new place and don’t have everything set up yet. The move was overwhelming.
why you have the vacuum advance hooked on to the manifold vacuum port? when I do this on my edelbrock 1406 the car idles up and down rpm and hard gear shifting
For some unknown reason, mine runs better off manifold vacuum. Tried ported vacuum and it ran like crap.
My 2009 has a frame bracket right over the top of the head, cant get to the top two head bolts. . Instead of removing engine, Ill just cut the fram bracket off and re weld after top end rebuild. UGH great engineering by Polaris.
Fantastic video for the following reasons: 1. not ruined by music or a wide angle lense, good teaching, good views. Thank you.
The torque specs was useful thank you on that
What brand cam shaft did you use
Didn’t change camshaft. It was ok.
Thank you for these videos. I also have a 96 that I'm rebuilding this moment and your info is very useful.
Is this thing a 2 stroke? It sounds like a 4 stroke
It's a 3 stroke, silly.
4 stroke
Le falta velocidad y desplazamiento a ese chevelle...
Less than helpful
Where did you get the Camshaft kit?
also did you notice a large difference in speed after you replaced it?
Didn’t replace the camshaft. Replaced the piston and had the cylinder bored.
Thanks for the great video. Tackling this job tomorrow on a 99 sportsman 500 and this will help lots ! 👍🏻
What’s the wheel and tire spec combo? Especially on the rear I just picked up a 73 and was going to go 10” wide, maybe 4-5” backspace?
Tires on back are P285/60D15 and I think the backspace is 5". Not positive, was quite a while ago!
@@oldjalopygarage right on I really appreciate your reply. Trying to snag up a ‘73 right now and I want to fill the rear wheel wells up if it needs new tires anyway might as well order a wider black ralley for the back and save tire money. Did you get rid of that one?
@@lownds_8249 My son has it now so still in the family.😁
@@oldjalopygarage awesome that makes me happy 😃
We didn’t get to hear it run…

I’m doing a head gasket on a 96 Magnum so your videos are extremely helpful. One question…before starting it for the first time, did you give it an oil change or did you let it run for a bit, then change it?
Fresh oil and filter on first start. Some antifreeze got into the crankcase when the head gasket blew. So oil kept getting milky. Changed the oil a few times after running until oil wasn’t milky anymore.
I would recommend next time when changing a cam shaft to when ever you take the 3 bolts off the timing sprocket to tie something up to it so you don’t haft to adjust you timing chain
Hello Great video!!!!!I have a question about the ring gap since you had the jug machined was that the standard ring gap? Thanks for you time and video
Oversize piston and rings. The place that machined the jug had it figured out. The ring gap is the spec that was given in the install instructions that came with the new piston and rings. Thanks for watching.
I need to do this on my 2 stroke 400 but i don't know where to start. Do I order the piston kit 1st then find a machine shop to machine my jug?
@@jaysta86tubeThe place that machined the cylinder supplied the piston and rings.
I guess somebody has to be first
