Hello Lisa. I played a church organ in an empty church for the first time today, but I didn't do well at all. It's like a hymn I can play perfectly at home, on that organ it was like something came over me and it felt like I didn't know what I was playing at all. That's zero confidence - but it's probably why I'll never ever be a church organist. How did you learn? And how did my teacher Karen learn?? I'll ask her later on WhatsApp. Hope you're having a lovely Memorial Day weekend.

Hello Lisa. When I began learning the piano around 17 or 18 years ago I used to have these piano books called Classics To Moderns and the Bach Minuet in G was in the book 2. However as wonderful a piece as it is, I just couldn't play it correctly. I was seeing a piano teacher at the time (I've had several of those before I settled with Karen 4 years ago) but still couldn't master the piece. I kept on asking what I was doing wrong with it and they said I'm not doing anything wrong but I must have been doing something wrong all along! The Minuet will probably be one of those pieces I'd like to be able to play but couldn't so I moved on to a piece that I could play. Perhaps after all these years I could try and find a copy of CTM2 or download it, and have another go with the piece now I've learned such a lot more. I know Karen will help me and I could put it on my channel! How was church today? Wishing you well for the week ahead and thank you for sharing this video. Your pal David.

A very Happy Easter to you my dear Lisa ✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️I saw a brief glimpse of you playing Prelude at the service this morning on UA-cam. My piano teacher played this morning and last night too.....and she's playing at a funeral next Saturday afternoon. Thine Be The Glory is another one I would have wished I could play had I been a church organist. I could sit and cry wishing I wasn't so much of a scaredycat......but it is how it is Lisa. You are such a lovely musician and a lovely person to have as a friend.

Thinking of you this Easter holiday Lisa, with all the extra services you'll be playing for! How lovely it is to see you and hear you playing your church's organ - your hands work those keys so expertly and confidently - and it's a lovely tune too on what sounds like a very well maintained and well cared for instrument. Do you play the pedals as well or are you one of those organists that play the manuals only? At my piano teacher's church in MN she is the only organist there that plays both pedals and manuals (she's 6ft tall and having long legs helps her to reach all over the pedalboard!) Hope today's Easter Eve service goes well if there is one, and the Easter Day service too - and I am looking forwards to your Easter Day musical offering. I wish I was confident enough to play something like this. Before I resigned from the Church I was part of a handbell group. Yes, they actually PERMITTED a new member to join them! Anyway we would ring this one whilst our musical director accompanied us on the piano. Happy days.

When I was a kid of around 4, Ray Stevens did like a country version of this song and it got into the charts. So the Ray Stevens version is for me the version I default to!
