    Hi mate, I bought the exact brackets but would like to know which timber you used for that as it looks perfect. My countertop is also 40mm so I need something a bit thinner like you have done. Many thanks in advance.

      Hi, as far as I am aware, you have to be able to stand up in the van which I can do as I have about 6 foot from floor to ceiling, I have not tried to have log book changed and so have no experience in these things but there are guidelines somewhere on a dvla website that lists all the criteria. Sorry I can’t help any further. Thanks for watching and all the best. Ian.

      Hi Andrew, I’m beginning to wonder why I fitted this plastic tray when many others seem to have had better ideas. Thanks for letting me know about the epoxy resin as I am now wondering if I could apply this to the existing tray and then make a slathered board to distribute the weight? Thanks again and all the best. Ian.

    Our yacht shower has Shower Floor Wood Slats made of marine-grade teak that does not rot. They sit on top of the floor and can be put out in the sun to dry. If you have a jigsaw and a place to work, you could measure the gaps between those cracking circles and create a set for your shower. Even if, after many years, the teak looks a little worse for wear, you could sand it back and refinish it with a waterproof coating. That would be much less work than pulling up the shower floor. All the best - you have a nice-looking van! We also have the same setup on a larger scale in our cockpit, and being outside, the timber slats are constantly wet due to rain. Every couple of years, we sand them and coat them with a waterproof coating, and they look good and stand up to a lot of foot traffic as we often have four people in the cockpit sailing our yacht. Plus, the amount of dirt that builds up under them means we lift them up once a week and rinse the cockpit with a bucket of salt water. The teak looks excellent and has not caused a problem so far, and the conditions on a yacht at sea are much harsher than those on a shower cubicle in a van. Good luck!

    • @onevanandhisdog3641
      @onevanandhisdog3641 2 місяці тому

      Hello Ken, many thanks for your lengthy and informative input to my shower tray problem. After reading your message regarding the slats, I think that this is going to be the way forward. Someone has said they used epoxy resin on ply to make their shower tray so I’m wondering if I could coat the existing tray in a resin and then make a slathered board to distribute the weight more evenly. I am in Spain at the moment so will be getting on with this job on my return to uk. Thanks again and all the best. Ian.

      @onevanandhisdog3641 2 місяці тому

      Hi Michael, that sounds like the way to do it if you’ve got the equipment. This tray is so thin, probably about 2mm in thickness, do you have the details of your van converter that you would be able to pass on to me? I’d be very interested in talking to him. Even if he could make a thicker one it would be a hell of a job to change this one out but would be worth it in the long run. Thank you.

    Chuck my pennies worth in while I'm here.. once you've found a way of sealing it, make a board of wooden or plastic slats that sits in the tray and spreads ya weight evenly across the tray.. bit like a stand on draining board.

    I love regret videos, I learn so much from it. You could drill a hole, and fill those empty spaces with something, maybe expanding stuff, just to avoid further cracking, and then see if you can get some clear epoxy to sit on top of this, to seal it up. 🤔

    • @onevanandhisdog3641
      @onevanandhisdog3641 2 місяці тому

      Yes all the regret videos should be watched before starting a van build 🤣 Not a bad idea that, would be worried about to much expansion blowing the whole thing to bits but maybe some kind of silicone instead? Thanks for your input 👍

    • @strawberryroad1347
      @strawberryroad1347 2 місяці тому

      @@onevanandhisdog3641 I did actually watch plenty regret videos, before starting. It prepared me for several things that those Instagram picture perfect moments doesn't seem to catch. 😜 I am redoing my van again (it's a basic transit connect) because I don't have much space, I need to figure out the best way to get the most out what I have. I went the traditional couch to bed style, but that felt very cramped, and didn't work for my use. Then I built a fold up bed, which gave me plenty of floorspace, but then had to go up and down, and blocked some drawers. My next setup, will be half and half, so a chair that folds the back down to a bed, then a skinny kitchen, all along the side behind the driver seat, with sliding doors, so everything is tucked away. I think this will be the best option, based on how I used it on my 2 month trip. It will give me both a raised seat, a longer bed (since it goes over the foldable passenger seat) and storage for duvet and blankets. I will still have space in the middle, access to all doors, a functional kitchen space, which won't be blocked when I am in bedmode.. At least, the "drawings" in my head says so.. 😉

    Hi, my 2 cents if you want to repair : 1. unmount the shower tray 2. put something around your evacuation tube part (to separate it from the rest of the "under the tray" volume) 3. remount the shower tray 4. drill small holes on the side, and fill under the tray with EPS foam (take the version that doesn't mold in contact of water, I think it's the blue one) - this is why step 2 is important, if the foam goes to contact with your evacuation you won't be able to fix this any more 5. to finish, repaint your tray to cover the cracks and apply some epoxy with a pencil to make it harder/stronger

    • @onevanandhisdog3641
      @onevanandhisdog3641 3 місяці тому

      Hi Greg, Thank you for that, it’s very much appreciated. I don’t know about EPS foam so I’ll check it out, I put a piece of ply in the central part of the shower that is raised so it’s just those other round pieces that are not supported so something like the foam could support them but I don’t know if the foam would be able to penetrate that far past the supporting ply, unless I removed the ply. Food for thought anyway. Thanks again and take care.

Very annoying… I find new plug on eBay but can’t see replacement boards … Question: in the 14 months you have this heater how many days was it going nonstop?? I probably used my heater every day in the 14 months but I have never used it non stop, I only ever use for maybe 1 or 2 hours maximum, I don’t know the answer to the problems you are having but for the low price that these heaters are it’s probably worth just fitting a new one if you can’t repair it. All the best.

There is the option of getting something of better quality at a higher price point if you’re in a position to be able to do that? But I ain’t no expert on them and cannot offer any kind of explanation as to why you’re having these problems, all I can do is hope that you can find a solution somehow. Regards. Ian.

    Hi Dear, I like your videos very much. As a UA-cam expert, I analyzed that your UA-cam video is not getting proper views and subscribers. The reason is that, video isn't SEO completed, no low competitive and ranked tag used & didn't optimize the channel with white-hate SEO. If these issues are resolved, then your UA-cam video views will increase. Do you know UA-cam algorithm which channel prefer and increase their video impression & search result first?

      That’s not good 😩 I feel for you. I should try changing the glow plug first and then if that dosent work it’ll probably be the motherboard ( main circuit board ) I should buy two glow plugs just in case it happens again. Best of luck.

      i’m in the same boat and it’s below freezing. Upon very new installation of Maxpeedingsrod diesel heater, I get this error 3 right out of the box. Will try to change the glow plug and see what happens.

      Hi, if I were you I would change the motherboard out next, be careful to get one with the correct type of plug on the electrical connection as some are triangular and others square. All the best 👍

      Sorry to hear that you’re having problems ☹️ I got mine from eBay in 2021 and apart from the glow plug issue it works great. It’s just a generic unbranded heater, a lot of people are using the maxspeedingrods ones now and I think this brand is trying to build a reputation and therefore provide a reliable unit but I don’t have any experience of them. Hope you get things sorted anyway 👍

    Is this an L3 van? Did you find this was good big enough for the shower and enough kitchen and seating area? We are deciding between a L4 or L3!did you make these cabinets yourself or buy ready made? Thabks

    • @onevanandhisdog3641
      @onevanandhisdog3641 8 місяців тому

      Hi, this is an L3, for the layout I wanted the L3 was most suitable as on the L4 the wheel arch of the van would have protruded into the shower area. I find it’s perfectly big enough but I am living in it alone. The cabinets were all made by myself out of furniture board. Hope that helps. Thanks.

    Great video, I am planning in getting a boxer L3H2 in a few months, First thing that came into my head watching this is how much weight you must have in the back! haha, I will be terrified to start, I will be sitting in the back scratching my head, but I really want a project to keep me busy and away from alcohol haha. thank you.

      Hi, thanks for your comment. It’ll certainly keep you busy, mind, body and soul 🤣 but it’ll be worth it if you take your time and do it right. My van only weighed 3060 kg on completion, so not too bad. All the best with your project.

    well this should be fun to do with one hand before a canadian winter when its already in the single didgets but ill be sure to add that to my list of parts to have on hand

      Hi Matt, its a while now since I did this job but having thought about doing it with one hand I think that it should be possible, although I’ve obviously never tried, the hardest part would probably be the wiring connector but I’m sure you would be ok. All the best. Ian.

    Excellent work! I was thinking about putting inline fuses on the pad that I'm adding (that's how they did the ones from the factory), but I'm planning to insulate the underside and would then have to remove a bunch of that to get at the fuses. I may move all the fuses inside to keep from having to cut too many access doors in the insulation. I ordered UltraHeat pads, but I'm in the US - not sure if they're available in the UK. I have read that the facon's are spotty at best. Thanks for the video!

    • @onevanandhisdog3641
      @onevanandhisdog3641 9 місяців тому

      Hi there and thanks for your comment. You definately need some fusing between the supply and the pad and as you say it would probably be better inside the van for ease of accessibility and the possibility of water ingress if they were outside. You’re right about the facon pads, one of mine didn’t work from the outset but I couldn’t really test before fitting as I had to wait for the temps to drop in the fall and so have replaced it with a tank blanket brand that we have here, I’ve not heard of the ultraheat ones but I hope they work well for you. All the best. Ian.
