Awesome video! Would it be possible to post a video of how you assemble the center section, press the center taper and align it exactly 180 +- .001? Thank you for your knowledge… Adrian
You missed out re assembly, the most important and difficult stage!
Thanks, great video! Keep them coming!
I have a 2001 seadoo RX DI and fuel isn’t getting pass the air injectors which won’t allow it to start. Any ideas? I have 27psi fuel pressure and increases once cranked to over 80psi. I blew a line from the air compressor to the RAVE solenoid. Any help would be greatly appreciated
hey do you have the part numbers? great to have for these DI models
You have some plans, to build it?
Now you got a check to make sure it's not egg shaped
WOW!! that brought her apart from the loctite
This is a excellent tutorial. I'm dealing with the same thing with a ski that been out of commission for years. Thanks for posting
Is this only for very cold weather ot is recommended for any weather?
I have the small rectifier just installed a 16 amp stator wanting to convert to the voltage regulator rectifier do you need the grey 3 prong part or could I use the rectifier I have and just add the 6 wire one not sure what the purpose of the 3 prong part with the 6 wire setup
hello. my question is this. on a 717 engine, what is the no. to be within spec. also when i take a measurement is it between the cover and the block without the rotary plate installed? ive seen people measure between the rotary plate and cover. so im am confused of what to measure.
I have a 2001 rxdi, 52 hours, I took out the fuel pump to replace the filters and when I put it back it won't start like before also the pump when priming does not sound like before it won't start now but when I put a little starting fuel in the cylinders it does then dies
what pump are you using
The same pump I just replaced the air filters and put it back, I was thinking it could be air in the system cause no gas seems to go into the injectors and when I disconnect the main fuel line that has the fuel filter it skirts gas
what do you charge to do this i have a 2001 50hp tracker sleeve has moved on us and want to add two new ones
hi, just saw this. if you need outboard repair please text to 412-849-6190. thanks.
I'm only getting 75psi air pressure and 100psi in the fuel pressure....I checked for leak, none found. If I supply 100psi on the air side I get 80psi air and 105 fuel pressure. Does that mean my air compressor is not pumping up to spec ? Piston, ring and jug is all new for that. I'm not sure what to replace or how to troubleshoot this. Please advise ! Thank you. P.S. - I DID BUY YOUR TOOLS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS, I APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH. EDIT: My fuel pressure starts at 25psi.
You have a service ?
Yes here is the webstore crankshaftandco.com
Clearance used?
Any clue about why this happens? I’m running into an issue where my .109 drill is making a hole that pins at .107… the drill can enter the hole but a .108/.109 pin does not. I’m on a lathe too but my hole doesn’t look like yours
learn to talk, just spit it out uhhmmm uhhhhmmmm thhheeee ahhhhhh
What should the psi be for fuel on the water at idle and opening throttle. Mine is stumbling.
This video has a very small view window which sucks ass.
What RPM are you running that machine at...and does it matter what speed it's running at?
One of the only and best DI ski winterizing videos i have seen on the internet. Appreciate you taking the time and also explaining exactly what each hose and system is connected to. One question - how much of the system could be missed by back feeding antifreeze from flush valve with running engine?
Hi Thanks. First off engine on or off makes no difference there is no waterpump. The flush port will fill the exhaust water jacket but may not make it to the engine unless you pump it in.
Couldn't you hone the block with 3 stone hone just to clean up any scratches and help level the surface? Also use some wet dry 1000 grit paper on the outside of the sleeve?
Awesome!!!! I have an 1987 80HP mercury. Cylinder 1 started misfiring and I found out the rectifier was melted. Replaced the rectifier and that corrected the misfire but now the voltage is staying up to 17.5 I have replaced the stator and another rectifier/ regulator. Still 17.5 volts went back to the old rectifier and now I am seeing 60VAC from the stator and 60DC out of the stator. I am thinking I am overlooking something, just haven’t figured out what I am missing.
HI, I have the exact same motor, I have had a misfire on one cylinder for a while at Idle, and have decided it’s the stator, I am wondering if I need to change the rectifier/regulator as well, How do I test it before I order a new one, it does charge the battery
I doubt if it's the stator.
would a bad rectifier/regulator cause an intermitant misfire at idle @@crankshaftandco

Did you change out the rings and Pistons in the machine or took it out?? full send out the cylinders for rebore? :(
Just saw this, I do complete engine rebuilds in-house.
@@crankshaftandco I’ve done your compression test. I’m getting the 80lbs on the air rail. My cylinders are both around 145 psi. My ski gets to around 4700 rpm and only goes 25. I put in a new regulater it’s getting from 12 to 13 volts. Any idea what else I can look at? Please let me know I can’t figure it out.
@@rogermiles110 make sure your rave valves are opening around 5 to 6000 rpm. If not it won't rev up. Check you rave solenoid valve.

Where do you get parts
Internet vendors like WSM and ebay
Great source of diagnostic information and technigues. Are you still making the fuel rail airline test fitting? If so, what is the cost and how do I go about getting 1 ordered?
See my website crankshaftandco.com
Can you give more detail on how to rig up the pressure gauge?
If you want the pressure test fittings used in the video, I sell them at this website. crankshaftandco.com
I am having similar issues with my 2001 GTX DI.... we tested fuel pressure (GOOD) and air pressure (GOOD), then took apart the fuel/air rail to determine that the 1st injector was leaking and constantly stuck in open position, flooding the plugs. We had an extremely hard time removing the 1st injector, and we cannot seem to find out what the "injector special removal tool.
Any help on how to remove or reinstall the injectors would be greatly appreciated? Just got 2 new injectors, both still having similar issues and leaking.
I had a 60 horse mercury top cylinder sleeve actually slide down and lock up my engine a couple of years ago. Luckily I was just idling along. I wonder what caused that?
I just sent you an email, would like to buy those gauges form you so I can troubleshoot my GTX-DI. Order placed. Thank you!
Link for o ring?
do you have the service manual??
I am going to take this job on for the first time I have the same power head so these cylinder liners are dry liners from the factory? Installed dry and removed dry? Some guys say they need to be bored out to get liners out this video says different and it looks like it’s not necessary
My first question is why would someone fix a 20 year old DI? I seen these 951's hangrenade when still under warranty. even the 951 limited carb motor. Seadoo had and has to be differant when all other companys went large on 2 stk they went 3 cylinder to keep from slinging such a large bore piston. And usaly when a customer says new or rebuilt they usaly mean from short life technology. Thank you bombardier you have made me a good living for 35 years.
Well said!
Do you rebuild for others? I have 2 951 DI that need this done. Ty
Yes I do rebuilds and offer other services here: crankshaftandco.com

Yo now wait a minute! How did you get the torx bolts loose from the head without breaking them off at the top? I'm having trouble getting the one I'm working on loose and they're so damn tight it's like they have been Red loctited in place!
Try heating them with a torch.
@@crankshaftandco ok yet aren't the threads down deep into the Crank case like 12 inches? THANKS much already went ahead and emailed you
Got a 2001 GTX DI. Its throwing a P0335 code. It will idle just fine, but as soon as I give it throttle it throws the maintenance on the gauge and runs in limp mode. PO335 is wrong pattern sensed on encoder. Not sure how that's fuel/air related, as it seems its the crankshaft sensor.
Right, not related to the fuel or air injection system. Probably bent encoder wheel or tooth.
Where are you located at,
Near Pittsburgh PA
I have a 2001 gtx direc injected, my question is. , when I put the key on it should beep more than one time ? If I leave the key it should keep beeping?
