I'll be honest with you I have never played a souls-like but I plan to for research proposes. I've been more into the floaty combat w/ ability management style like in Insomniac spider man and God of war games. But the course I took for the base of the game was a soul like combat system that I modified. So defintiely plan to do a deep dive into during development.

@TheXplanations that's great. Because from what I've seen so far, a souls-like system would fit this game incredibly well. You know, playing as a fantasy warrior and fighting against insanely difficult bosses in a dark world... and yes, dying over and over again until you learned your enemies' moveset😁

Oh It's yeah. In the current outline the bosses will deliver alot of dailouge, Primarily the Angel of Light and Roaring Lion. Still deciding on my implementation for Set Apart One. Do I make him a non verbal protagonist like Jak and Daxtar Precursor Legacy and Destiny 2's Guardian which are big inspiration for my level design direction. Or do we need him a chatbot 😂

I really appreciate all the Feed back and have noted them all down 😁. Especially the settings options as I know the shield block audio and SFX mix is quite loud. This is indeed the very first "get the idea out of my head and into and actual prototype" version. So of course a lot of it will change as you stated as I continue to develop it. The combat values are quite overturned for the player currently especially the shield recharge (Blue Bar) which is not a glitch atm. For this build I wanted to keep the player in the Empowered state so they can sort of get an idea of the ability system I have in my head. There won't really be a stamina bar bur more of a Rage Meter style system. Abilities will have a natural recharge rate but can be super charge once you in the Empowered state. Kind of like Destiny 2 Prismatic system to draw a point of reference off the the top of my head. I couldn't quite figure out at the time (Some months ago) how to properly implement A kind of "Rage Meter" system and the course for the base of the code was a "Souls Like in Unreal type course". So I bounded the Empowered state to your Health. If you keep your health above 80% then the 'Stamina/Blue' bar recharges become 4x as fast (So basically instantly). It is intentionally busted currently but be will definitely be rebalancing it further as I developed. I encounter a skill issue with my own Code where I could not beat the boss with the values I set so just said "What ever, lets hit the OP switch 🤣" Which is the build I put up on Patreon that you played where you are overpowered. IDK if you played Destiny 2 but the Void titan ability "Unbreakable" is one of my favorite abilities and is part of my inspiration for the implementation of the Shield of Faith. Activating it heal you while you hold the shield. And if you block a certain amount of damage it dispels it outward to anything Infront of you and one shot most small enemies. But Instead I want it the sort of work like you are empowers your sword and Shield. Lock on was Middle Mouse button. It is kind of Janky though. Planning to implement a parry system and all those systems as I develop. Performance is definitely big on my list as I don't want to be one of the "Unreal Games are horribly optimized" kind of Game Dev. So I have been watching alot of performance optimization talks. I have a 4090 and I know somethings in my projects run just because of the brute force of a 4090. But for most of the gaming market I can't develop that way for release. @@TheXplanations Yes, makes sense to have the player be OP at this stage. I can see how it makes testing easier. It was playable without the lock on, but now that I know how to do it it makes combat feel a lot better. I think I was just trying to lock on from out of range. It would feel better to me if you could increase the lock on distance. Personally, I really like a long lock on distance, I would preferably like to be able to lock on to any enemy I can see, though I think some game designers limit it for difficulty purposes. The animations are great, by the way. Didn't mention that in my original comment but I really like how everyone moves. The player character's attacks feel nice and weighty. There seems to be a bug where if I attack too quickly, I'll get "locked out" of attacking. Don't feel too bad about being unable to consistently beat your own boss, haha. Miyazaki famously can't beat his own games without using cheesy strategies. Keep us posted on future updates. It's fun testing new games like this
