I knew Ray and Billy. I played my share of gigs in Huntsville, 1995/97. They were very friendly and helpful. Let me sit in more than a few times. What was the name of the place they played? Rainbow Lounge? They were house band there? Yes? Huntsville was a great music town. So many places to play. Bobby G's!. RIP Ray, both Danny's all the other great pickers I knew that have since passed. My name is Bud from Virginia. Thanks Huntsville for all the good times and all the real deal music.

What a nice Tribute. I knew Ray Brand. My name is Bud. I am from Virginia but I lived in Huntsville a few years. I am a musician also and got to know Billy Teichmueller. I was a huge fan of The Crawlers when they were just Billy, Ray and John. Other members came after my time. They used to let me sit in. This was in 1995 and they had a long standing house band gig. Rainbow something maybe? It was a great band and an eclectic "lounge" they played in.......then you went to a place called the Chicken Shack, if I remember correctly. I had many conversations with Ray, short but long enough to know how unique and special he was. He knew a lot of players from my neck of the woods. Very kind man to other musicians at his gig. A real deal musician. My kind of player....a guitar, cord and an amp (Marshall).....no effects. Thanks Mr. Smith for doing this vid. The Ray I remember only played that SRV strat you pictured. If I am not mistaken, I was in Robbins Music Store and a guy came in and sold that red 335 Ray is also pictured in. I think Billy bought it and gave it to Ray. Such memories.
