Momentum bike reviews: The Cafe Cruiser from Ride1Up
What size bike are you riding here? And how tall are you? I like your upright riding position
Large, 6'2"
How many miles do you really get? Do you feel a lack of performance as the battery is draining?
Because there are 2 bikes, the CGO 600 and 600 pro it should be clear that you are using the pro version. There are some subtle but important differences between them.
Great review. Thank you.
Just bought this bike and ABSOLUTELY love it. I am 6'2" and the Large fits perfectly. The bike connects to your phone or Apple Watch via bluetooth, and you can even control assist level with your watch easily with one finger. It doesn't have the torque of the Bosch, but a huge advantage is the light weight and that it works like a normal bike if the battery is depleted.
Great review. One correction, you refer to it having a 1x9 drivetrain, but I think it’s actually a 1x10. And even better, it’s Shimano’a super durable “Cues” drivetrain too.
Thanks. Beautiful. How tall are you and what size did you test?
It has mechanical disc brakes not hydraulic.
What’s the saddle brand?
Great video! Seems like a good bike.
can order with six speed? how is gear range for hilly city?
$1,500??? No front suspension, 48 Volt 12.8 amp battery, mechanical disks. There are other eBikes with front suspension 48 volt 14 amp batteries and hydraulic disk brakes for $1,100 out there.
Hi, here are my thoughts: I did some thorough research, and you are right, front suspension and hydraulic disc breaks would have been nice at this price point. However, everything seems to be well thought through and is nicely designed. I noticed high attention to details pretty much everywhere. Also glad to see, that company is located inside the USA and not in China. The main point why I decided to go for it, is the fact, that they use high quality Panasonic 18650 battery cells. And about the battery capacity restraints: I will order a second battery for $499.- if it turns out that I like the bike for this year. Certainly a massive upgrade from my Jetson Haze bike for $600.- , where I just experimented to find out if this foldable idea was the right thing for me. In addition to that, I have a Prodeco Phantom X3 full sized e-bike that is still going strong after 7 years of continuous use. Love it! But there was no way, it would fit in my car, and I did not want to add a bike rack to my sports car, obviously. Hopefully, Blix stays in business. Prodeco is long gone, and if anything major fails, I have a $2,500.- yard ornament. BTW, biggest challenge for me was to find a foldable bike that does not incorporate those fat tires. Not my thing. I believe the proportion of tires versus frame don’t look right. Might consider them for a full sized mountain bike or something like that. Greetings from Ohio, Marco
@@V8-friendly Thanks for the reply. I too don't like fat tire bikes and would prefer regular tires if they would make the foldable bicycle lighter. But the Blix is only 5 lbs. lighter than a fat tire bike like Ride1up's Portola which supposedly comes in at 59 lbs. It's great that we have a good selection of electric bikes to choose from. Yes, the fly-by-night nature of many of these companies is annoying.
Milage in a HILLY city?
What is the tech on your handlebars? I like it, nice and big. Cool bike!
Ot another e-bike! Can we at least see SOME evidence in Momentum that actual bicycles exist?
Only issue i had was seatpost keep sliding down but this model doesn't have landing gear so I have to move seatpost down whenever I fold. ans also it's using super narrow Z chain
how much does it weigh
28kg
This bike pretty much checks all the boxes on my list. Tires and wheels, brakes, power output, battery range.
Excellent, helpful review, well edited, detailed but not over lengthy!
I have to remind myself that Greg is selling to the masses and not me. For 6k there are better alternatives in the market that are lighter and don't use the outdated Mahle x35 hub. (Mahles X20 makes this obsolete and they aren't upgradable) And while this isn't limited to Lemond...why are the bikes so plain? Remember Greg's glory years? the bikes were works of art then. For this much money I'd expect a more interesting paint scheme on a full carbon frame in the 26lb range. Kind of disappointed as I am definitely looking for something similar, but before I dish out 6k it'll need to be better than this. Compare this to an Orbea gain and you'll see what I mean.
Can I ask how tall you are ? Im 6ft2 220. Im thinking we are similarily sized. Was it comfortable to ride?
Yes, it was surprisingly comfortable actually. I had no problem finding a good fit and riding position.
That's great. I just got one. As I was typing my question you mentioned your size in the video!😅
Nice to see a drop bar Lemond model. Super clean looking bike.
Are those tires 700c or 27.5?
Mechanical brakes my dude. 😊
This is a great bike! I have a bunch of Aventon Soltera videos on my channel too. The 2 gen isn’t a huge leap from the gen 1 model, but it’s still pretty cool.
I struggle with reinserting the battery , do you have any tips ? I do place the bottom end in first, but I struggle to get it in.
@@Tamara-qo4bi Yes, I also put in the bottom first, push it all the way down, then push the top of the battery into the frame until I hear a click. If it’s hard to push it beyond the click, you could twist the locking lever to the left when sliding it in, and then twist it back into place once the battery is flush with the frame. Some of them seem to be a little harder to push into place than the others. Hopefully that helps!👍
I love my HeyBike,my husband loves yo go on them. The customer service is fabulous
Is that the cadence sensor?
It looks like it might be the adventure2 so it would be the torque sensor
Nice! Welcome to Brompton World. Should try T line as well.
150km downhill with nobody on it 😅
Too slow
I doubt anyone has ever set any PR or KOM on Strava on a Brommy and still I'd buy one in a heartbeat.😅 Very nice.
Great video! I also have a CHPT 3; I have been having mine for 3 months now and love it.

Is there any concern about the fragility of carbon fiber frame for what is typically riding on roads (with potholes) and then stress related to battery and the like?
going nowhere near this bike but it does look pretty nice. when it comes to that everyday commuter concept though wouldn't an internal gear hub and belt drive be a better bet? IF i had the money to spend on this i'd certainly want it to be a mid drive. like the ones from schindelhauer is friggin beautiful...for example the arthur if it was decked with carbon fiber components..🤤
Please note 750W motors are not legal in Canada.
Thank you for sharing! ☺
Another beautifully finished frame from Aventon. Looks are subjective, but I think it has the nicest looking frame of any cargo bike, motor-assisted or not. The Lectric XPedition carries a bit more, especially on its integrated rack (surprised the Abound has a bolt-on one given the rear frame design - perhaps they’re concerned about wear and chipping of paint?) and can accommodate two batteries for longer running time (great for delivery people), but this gives people another affordable cargo ebike option with different features - torque versus cadence sensor, brake light and turn signals, suspension fork. Both are great, and I love to see their companies bringing them out at thousands less than comparable models.
Nice ebike, but I think I'll go with the Lectric XPedition cargo bike. It has 2.5 times the range and can carry more.
Hey, you're in RI. I have an REI CTY 2.1 EBike if you would like to review it.
